@@clanjebb2017 He did indeed, and he was incredibly self-aware of his reality being a video game (even talked with the game writers at one point iirc.) it was also on PS3, PS4 and XBoxOne. Since it came out originally in 2013, that would indeed put him before Sans and the rest, though I imagine there are other characters with the same level of self-awareness that came before even Deadpool's game, though most of this group also had a certain amount of control over their game worlds 🤔

No, he definitely is. During the genocide boss fight, he recalls you being friends in the past. He literally breaks the game's rules in order to fight you by hitting the ui when you select attacks and stops attacking at the end because he knows you can't take your turn to attack until his turn ends.
