Loved the competition - first time I have been to a Strongman competition and it was brilliant. Seeing Pavlo win was amazing and Oleksii looks in great shape for Worlds. Felt like Oleksii maybe held back on a few events that he could have potentially won (he looked like he could have easily done another rep on the deadlift and he seemed to put down the Conan's Wheel before he ran out of gas), but maybe he was looking after the lat and didn't want to take too many risks with World's so close. Forget UK vs USA for World's Strongest Nation, with the Pavlos, Oleksii and Olga, it seems like Ukraine should be challenging for that title.

What a great event and what a revelation Pavlo has been. Tremendous athlete and someone to watch going forward. I still think Oleksii might be the guy to watch going into Worlds even over Pavlo because I don't know how he's going to be over a longer competition with the Heat qualifier and then the Final. Aivars is incredibly consistent and seems to just keep getting better so I'm looking forward to seeing him as well. Eythor looks more improved than I remember seeing him in the past, so I can't wait to see how he looks going into the Heats of WSM. Can't overlook Tom Stoltman or a healthy and determined final Worlds Strongest Man for Brian Shaw either. This Europe's has me really pumped for this years Worlds... I might have to request some spot leave from work and see if I can go see it in person.

Its Oleksi's paranoia. In one of his training videos he had whole issues around lifting stones and them being dirty or crumbling. If other competitors went before him on the same stone with no problem then it must be a self imposed psychological barrier.

Issue with Novikov on stones at WSM will be the run-in because he has to do an extra movement to get the stone up to his chest, and that will take a lot of energy from him which showed from last year why he came last on the stones

If you watch Oleksii's atlas stone training on his KZbin channel, you will see that he is not pleased with the quality of the stones (at least in the video I watched) that he has available. Either the cement crumbles and sticks to him or the stone is dirty to the point that it interferes with his lifts. Not sure if this could have formed a bad habit or psychological impression that would make him think "the stone is slipping", thus throwing his technique off.

Hey Loz and Liz! Missed the livestream yesterday, so I didn't ask this question, but how is the interaction between Oleksii and handsome Pavlo? It could've been that it was just in the heat of the competition, but they seemed a bit "distant" with each other. Of course, during the awards ceremony, they seemed cordial, but I thought I got the sense that they weren't really "friends". Obviously, you don't have to be friends with everyone, even if they're from the same country, but I dunno... I don't have the full picture obviously, but the dynamic between the two kinda felt off (not as much as wide Pavlo and the Oleksii incident though)
