Fun fact! Or rather a slight correction The one who killed the witches was not Envy, but Satella. But even though it was Satella who killed them, the witches don't hold it against her, instead they hate and will never forgive the Witch of Envy. This is information from Web Novel, phase 3 chapter 76

Interesting, that suggest that Satella had a good reason to absorb the others witch factor, maybe because only her own wasn't enough to defeat a common enemy (reason why they're not mad) or maybe to save someone important (Subaru ?) 400 years ago. Also I'm spitballing here, but maybe the fact that Betelgeuse is crazy is because he's a diligent person at heart, and absorbing the witch factor of sloth made him lose his mind

Season 2 is better than season 1 in my honest opinion. I really like season 1 as well, but season 2 does so much for the core cast, expands the lore and worldbuilding tenfold, and expands so much on characters like Subaru, Roswaal, Beatrice, etc etc. I would like to think that the people watching Re Zero solely for the "hype" moments like the White Whale subjugation would have jumped ship by now. And those that haven't need to understand that Re Zero isn't the kind of story where there's consistent "hype" moments. Sometimes, when you get knocked down, you don't get back up. Or if you do it takes a long time. Re Zero isn't the type of story that's out to deliver that kind of gratification for the sake of it. Of course, that's not to say that it doesn't do so, episodes like season 1 episode 18 exist after all, but it's not the type of story where just because you fall, you then will rise. It's more real than that, and that's something I love about it. I don't consider this a drag to watch because every episode is expanding on something in interesting ways, whether it be characters, lore/worldbuilding, or insane reveals, etc. This is how Re Zero is, and I would hate to see it change just to satisfy those who don't enjoy it (not that I think it will or that you were saying you think it should change).

I prefer season 2 more than season 1 but in the form of a novel. However, in the anime form, I liked season 1 more. Probably mainly because I really didn't like Subaru's design, and the animation is simply not the best, which spoiled my impression of some scenes.

@@Kcck.no.3that’s how I felt when I first watched s2. I especially hated how subaru’s face being different led to him not having the same expressions in s1 but I did really like when he shouted elsa and Garfiel’s name because you could see his hatred.

I get what you say, but the reason things are going so low, is so the highs can be even higher. The first cour is the set up, cour 2 is the pay off. And what a payoff it was. I won't say your wrong, since everyone is entitled to their opinion, but please hold your judgements until you finish the second cour, even if you still don't like it as much as season 1, I'm certain you will think differently of season 2.

In terms of Ratings on MAL (note from 0 to 10): it's S2 part 2 (8.43) > S2 part 1(8.33) > S1 (8.23) In terms of Populary on MAL : it's S1(2 246 259)> S2 part 1(1 139 751) > S2 part 3(922 662) I don't know if we should take ratings or popularity as a good indicator of which is a better season. I think both have their pros and cons. Ratings is a better indicator overall of what the people that finished the show are thinking about it, but popularity shows its reaching in the anime sphere. The thing with popularity is that each season has less viewers no matter how good the show is, so it's hard to use it as a good comparing point between seasons.

The average hater monkeys that give low values also tend to drop the later the season. On the other hand, opium monkeys will stay for their loved opium continuing to give high ratings. So, a gradual increase makes sense, assuming the quality remains similar.

I do agree that the pacing feels way more excruciating in season 2 than season 1. Arc 4 was the biggest arc yet and having the entirety of season 2 be this arc (which is mostly lore yapping) can feel weird coming from arc 1 to 3 in season 1. Not to mention the production issues due to season 2 airing during a certain worldwide pandemic. But from what I've seen the public opinion on season 2 is actually fairly balanced (and I'm not just talking about what I've seen in the Re Zero community because of course we are glazing that sh*t up). But yeah once you're finished with the entirety of the season I'm really curious to hear you're opinion. I prefer your honesty over dishonest reactions.

I personally find it hard to see why people would prefer s1 over s2, maybe its just extreme preference on my side. (I do love seeing the suffaru and also roswaal chilling on his bed) s1 sets up so much stuff but in terms of pure enjoyment arc 4 is just generally better for me

People want fast content because they don't have the patience to watch something carefully constructed to end in a majestic way and even so, arc 3 is quite big in the light novel, the anime cut a lot, and another point is that season 1 has 3 climaxes while season 2 only has one, honestly, everyone has their opinion, but season 2 has much better character development, world building, arc construction, better writing, better dialogues and better climax, in season 2 people started to understand Re:Zero because it was adapted correctly, in season 1 the cuts only left the main points, "changing" the true type of story that Re:Zero is, a slow story.

52:33 Was it ever explicitly stated that it was Subaru's mind that was blocking him from seeing Satella's face? Because ever since I read it in the novel, I've always theorized that Satella has some sort of curse, that unless you accept her or consider her an enemy, you won't see her face. Similarly with speech understanding, as long as you hate her, you won't be able to understand her words, etc. This is just my theory, but if it was indeed explicitly stated that it was Subaru's mind, and not some ability of Satella, that prevented him from seeing her, then I will have to consider this theory disproven.

Arc 6 is literally Arc 4 LOL All lows but Arc 6 is more fcked up... It gives you 1 highs then comeback to low but worse LMAO But the amount of lore drops are equal to Arc 4 or maybe crazier(Web Novel version). I'm also pretty sure most of pure Re zero fans likes the suffering part more than hype(I'm one of them cause that's what makes me likes Re zero)... No hate, but I think the one who likes the hype parts are mostly the fans who likes shonen
