Just so y’all know, the reason Damian Lillard didn’t have 80+ is because he decided to only pass the ball for the first half of the third quarter, despite his teammates telling him to shoot. It really shows what kind of person, and player he is.

What is incredible about Kobe’s 81 points is that he was very efficient. 28/46 is a little over 60%. He also made all but 2 of his freethrows. And he scored those 81 with less than 50 shots attempted. It is sort of crazy that his last game when he dropped 60, that is when he shot 50 shots

The David Thompson 73 point game was the last game of the season. He was tied in Legue leading scoring with George Gervin. Who scored 63 points in his last game. Then Thompson scored 73 points to win the scoring title.

You are wrong. George Gervin won the scoring title that year. They weren't tied before their last games. Gervin was ahead by 14 points or something. So David Thompson scored 73 on his last game in an attempt to overcome that deficit and secure the title by putting it out of reach for Gervin. But then, after learning this, 4 hrs later Gervin scored 63 in his last game to regain the scoring title by 4 points that season. I think it was 4 points, something like that. 14 - (73 - 63) =4. Scoring title was awarded on season total points then, not PPG average.

I was at Donovan Mitchell's 71 point game. One of the most amazing sports experiences I've ever had. Something not emphasized enough in the video is how crazy of a comeback it was. Nobody's shots were falling until Mitchell put the team on his back in the second half. With only a couple seconds left and down three, he was at the free throw line and after making one, intentionally missed his second shot, got his own rebound, and put it back for two to tie it up. Proceeded to dominate overtime and secure the win

Nah his 70 pt game was trash since the refs spoon fed him so many fouls. I remember watching that game live & you couldn't even look at Mitchel without getting a foul. On the Wilt Chamberlain games: the offense basically was "give it to Wilt". Frank McGuire, Wilt's coach with the Warriors, had coached against him in the 1957 NCAA Championship and knew just how good he was. When he became the Warriors' head coach, he decided to make the offense all Wilt, all the time. This is also how Chamberlain averaged 50 minutes a game one season. McGuire would leave the Warriors after the 1961-62 season as he decided not join the team when they moved to San Francisco and returned to coaching college basketball.

@@sirstewartwallace3917 craziest stat of his career for me is that he never once fouled out. while playing almost every minute of almost every game at centre. on the All wilt all the time point. it always really annoys me when people call wilt a selfish offensive player that could never win in his early years when that was what everyone on the staff and his teammates wanted, i've heard guys like Al Attles ask why they would ever think of shooting when they have a guy like Wilt. the reason we know that no matter how good a player is they need teammates and a system is because of Wilts Warriors. everyone from Kareem to Jordan to Jokic has benifitted from that knowledge (well they did try it with Jordan but it was just as much a waste of time as Wilts was)

dude if u took away 3pt shots from all of basketball, how many times have ppl even had a 50pt game in all reality? remove all of currys games in that department. Jordan and LeBron could PROBLY do 50 or games without 3s, Kobe could too. Shaq could in his days on the Magic when a LOT of teams were weak. the 90s was weird, you were either a badass team or a team of all bums, there wasn't really any in-between teams. however, some of the best most intense ball games stem from 2 shitty teams meeting up to play each other. I swear dude, when 2 shitty teams play you see INSANE shit happening lol same thing with March Madness, those games are harder played than ANY finals games in the NBA . u see more injuries, more crazy game winning shots etc. NCAA ball in March is way more fun to watch than NBA finals . it's like that every year hands down.

People who say Wilt faked the 100 point game, cause there is no footage 1. It was in 1962. Barely any games were televized. In a young NBA. Considering neither of those teams were great. 2. Just look at him. If it was any other player. Ok i get it. But wilt was a cheat code. Aweraged 50 a season. Has 30 of 80 60+ games in NBA history. Half of the 70p games. 3. Why would they lie? It was a new league. Noone knew in 20 years 100p will be a lot. And noone from the 4000+ people in the arena (including the Knicks who should be embarassed) said it was a lie.

I think people who criticize Wilt's numbers don't appreciate that he played with a lot of excellent players who set records that weren't broken for decades or ever (Baylor, West, Russell etc). All these records were set in an era before the three point line, so back then averaging over 25 points a game was pretty exceptional. Wilt was also tall, he was strong, he had excellent endurance, lead the league in rebounds, field goal percentage, field goals, and assists. He would be an exceptional player in any era. The only argument against him playing in today's NBA is his low free throw percentage would be a weakness in an era where defense is illegal.

Anyone hating on a 20 year old Devin Booker's 70 point game is a bum. I'm not even a Suns/Booker fan, but c'mon. A young star playing ball. Like Sir Charles said, "you just sittin at home in your grandma basement with your draws on, typing on your damn keyboard, shut the hell up".

"Minimal defense" says the kid that doesn't know shit about the era (even admitting to it earlier) and hasn't watched the game. Funny he doesn't say that for the 3 most recent games where we have all the footage and we can see how vomitive the defense was through and through in those games And here's another example that shows you know nothing of that era. Making 50% from the field was way harder back then, and not only bc they played defense (great one at that), but also due to the rules (only touching the ball on the top most part when dribbling was allowed, strictly enforced traveling rules, every contact initiated by the offensive player was an offensive foul, defense could be way more physical, not only hand-checking but double hand-checking), as well as the shoes (chuck taylors), hard rims, bad floors (humidities made them uneven and had bumps), no heating or cooling, faster pace (120 possessions, today's pace is 98-99), much more compact calendar (played 78-82 games in about 145 days, so 0.57 games/day or 1 game every 1.77 days; while today they play 82 in about 175 days, so 0.47 games/day or 1 game every 2.13 days), way worse medicine, diets, training, transportation (no private planes, instead their own cars, bus or economy class on train, maybe economy on a normal plane if lucky), way worse amenities, no luxuries, etc. All that made them have worse %s, as all that influences in fatigue and endurance, which influences in shooting. So yeah, shooting below 50% was almost a guarantee, very few players in the history of the game can average over 50% shooting in a season in the 60s (certainly not a single one drafted this century). And again another proof you know nothing about the era. The Lakers were the weakest at the center position throughout the decade (and almost every year) despite having 3 guys in that span that were all-stars. That's why they couldn't win against the Celtics (aside for the fact that Bill Russell played on the Celtics). And having the worst centers overall means Wilt is going to cook you the most. That 63/31/7 by Baylor is the only 60/30/5 game ever and the record for most rebounds in a game by a SF (tied his own record which he got in his 6th game ever also against the Warriors, obviously before Wilt as he was drafted that following summer). The ones that "think" it's real KNOW it's real. And it's literally impossible to reach that, bc nobody has that stamina and endurance, much less today's players and the ones that'll come after if a ton of things (most not basketball related) change.

I mean Wilt Chamberlain is still a legend in the NBA, even though the league in his dominant year with the warriors had shorter players. The league still tried to change the rules so Wilt can’t dominate. Even with the Lakers with more taller players he still was a good player.

Really disappointed on your coverage of David Thompson's game. You wax on and on about Kobe's game but David hit his 28 shots on 38 attempt, while Kobe took 46 shots. He also had the 3 pointer to help. David's game was probably the best game on the list and you just glossed over it because they lost by one?
