There’s also in depth lore about each of the bosses. If I’m not mistaken all were originally humans that have been warped and deformed. A few of the legendary hunters (I believe the bone doctor, Felis, and weird sister) are also associated with a witchcraft/voodoo cult that is connected with the plague

It's not only the "when" but also the "where" There are description of demons and monsters in china (zhong qui and, I think, sovereign description) and even in siberia (hailstorm description). Obviously that is not part of the AMERICAN hunter association story, but it's really cool. Also, it seems that the native americans fought "darkness" for a long time

I'm not particularly good at this game but I keep coming back to it; mostly I play solo in empty lobbies and just marvel at the scenery and killig A.I. I think what I enjoy about it so much is that it reminds me of a Call of Cthulhu game based in a western setting, which were available scenarios if you ever played the Chaosium tabletop games.

I wish they would create a single player campaign in this world. I love the lore, the weapons and their animations, and the creeping dread that jump scare PVE and the locations provide. Unfortunately at 50 years old my shot reflexes mean I rarely see much of the map before death. A single player campaign would be far more satisfying for someone like me who is just too old to "git gud"
