I never appreciated this movie until I got older. It actually teaches a good lesson on how not everyone acts like what they are represented as in media. And that just because you come from certain backgrounds doesn't automatically mean that you will be a product of your environment. You have black characters like Blair, Sean and PJ who are just regular people instead of the stereotypical rappers/gangsters that alot of media portray them as. Shondra actually lives in the hood but doesn't act like your typical hood woman and doesn't need to just because she grew up in it. B-Rad is a white boy from a privileged rich neighborhood yet acts like the "struggle is real" and behaves the exact opposite of what you expect someone in a privileged neighborhood would behave much like someone from a poor inner-city area.
@johndavis9321 Жыл бұрын
Exactly I do feel as tho their is a good message somewhere in the movie about not judging a book by its cover and not everyone is gonna grow into WHAT Their backgrounds would suggest they be that said I think the the point would have been better highlighted if they had done. BIT BETTER job with b rad's characterization cause as it stands he means we'll but like primm said he does feel like a bit of a poser

media and all is cool, but why people are posers themselves? Like he called character of Jimmy Kennedy a poser, but aren't all people posers then? You watch TV, you read books, and you take pieces of "your" character from different, well, characters. Like lets talk hood. Why young black boys always act so gangsta? That's posing. Talking about bitches and guns and drugs. Like take Moses. He is a cool dude. Simple friendly dude. Why can't everybody be like him? It's not about media, but about society. You have hood on one hand, then you have all these white boys from 90s movies on the other hand. You know, with sweaters or whatever tied over shoulders. Society is fucked.

Thanks for this review Primm! I always watch this movie about twice a year. B-Rad was supposed to be a hiphop caricature so he gets a pass for some of his lame lines lol. They were supposed to be lame since he aint from the culture. It's part of the gag of the movie so i'll allow it.

Right ultimately dudes character isn't really meant to be looked at to seriously same as Marlon Wayans character in don't be a menace while drinkin ya juice these guys are really just supposed to be laughed at not have their CHARACTERS super deeply examined

If you can find them, there's after credit scenes, and bloopers that are extra funny. taye diggs clacking the guns together is still a joke in my family.

Once again Primm, only you can actually put thought into one of my favorite movies and have me rethinking my whole perspective on the film😂😂😂. It's official, you are the dopest movie critic ever ("I meant that in a good way" -Jamal from How High)😎💪🔥. By the way, I'm surprised you ain't picked up on the fact that this movie stole 3 scenes from 3 other hood movies. 1. Training Day (beginning and King Kong scene) 2. Menace To Society (Liquor Store scene) 3. 8 Mile (Battle Rap scene) Hell they even borrowed from Scream with the movie theater scene 😂😂😂. Also, there was a 4th writer as well. It's Nick Swarson. But he actually funny as hell though imo. Grandma's Boy will forever be an all time favorite 🔥🔥🔥. Damian Dante Wayans character was pretty hilarious too, let's not sleep on him. That GameCast line will forever be quoted, and the last scene at his house, he was funny "STOP IT😠🥺😢. YOU SAY ONE MORE LINE AND IM GOING HAVE TO SMOKE MYSELF" lmao

also, Regina from scary movie which was a parody of scream which Jamie was in hahaha they have characters from both movies in 1 movie too.
@dboslice Жыл бұрын
@@stanclark8824 and Anthony Anderson too lol. He was funny in Scary Movie 3 and 4. Granted, I still think they weren't as good as the first two imo. However, Anthony Anderson and Kevin Hart characters were the highlight of the 3rd and 4th one. Along with Brenda, Cindy, and George lol
