Yeah in Tekken 2's lore it seemed like "Devil" was an evil spirit that Kazuya made a deal with in order to survive after his father Heihachi threw him off a cliff as a child

that's what it was devil gene is a total retcon.......kazuya sold his soul in order to survive the fall that otherwise would have killed him and to get revenge....that curse affected jin later as seen in the tekken 3 intro.@@texasgent4694

The aesthetic, the music, the story, the vibe.. it's luxurious and nostalgic even if the most of the people didn't even born when this game dropped. The style and the fashion, and the futuristic technology is just what makes Tekken 2 unique and not just a fighting game unlike the other Tekken games. (Btw Tekken 2 takes place in 2012)

Mortal Kombat og here. Mortal Kombat's story now is shit. Tekken's is better. The only good Mortal Kombat lore was the first timeline, that indeed will never be surpassed by any fighting game.

The first four Tekken games had a solid story, while 5 was the last game in the series I can call good. There's something special about Tekken 2, though - the last game to have a "realistic" story in the series, the last game with the classic lineup and arguably the grimmest until Tekken 4.

Tekken 3 may be the most beloved Tekken game of all time, but the best story is Tekken 2 hands down! Everything about Tekken 2 was perfect! Dark, suspenseful, gloomy, and filled with mystery. What more could you ask for?

@@TheTransformersFanChannel tekken 4 is fine except for kazuya coming back and as a result Jin's move list had to be changed. Tekken 5 all non Mishima blood characters got pushed to the side and dumbed down, and Mishima's are super human as Heihachi survives an explosion. And legacy characters from tekken 2 are surprisingly still alive and still able to fight even though they are really old. And from tekken 5 onwards the storylines (in my opinion) just keeps going down hill. However, the gameplay is still fun, and was pretty much the only reason I kept coming back for later installments.

@@TheTransformersFanChanneli would say neither. I feel Kazuya's story should have ended at Tekken 2. In tekken 2 heihachi ending you see heihachi drop kazuya in the volcano and as heihachi leaves you see the volcano erupt, kazuya's remains should be burned completely and be gone. And then in tekken 3 intro, you see what looks like Devil's spirit mark Jin shoulder. I feel we would have had a better focus on Jin with kazuya completely gone from the picture.

Back in the day how did people know the story of Tekken 2 with all these details and lore about the characters because the game didn't tell much, it didn't have the intros and interludes like in Tekken 5

It starts just like Tekken 1. A Mishima climbs back a mountain he was thrown off and ends with that Mishima throwing the Mishima, that previously threwn our current Mishima, down a mountain again... but wait! There's a catch: the mountain is actually a volcano this time around. Oh, a girl gets pregnant too. That's pretty much it
