To me, Revenant's release still remains the best when it comes to lore and marketing. The Forge mis-direction, the Hammond Robotics teasers and backstory tying the two together, the cinematic with Loba's parents, ... all great! The only negative I can think of is that the character himself was way underpowered on release, but the hype was certainly there! Second place would have to go to Loba, being a continuation of this story arc, or Ash with the whole in-game quest and tie-in to Horizon's story preceeding her eventual addition to the game.

There seams to be about 1 year worth of development for a new legend. Elle Newlands (Horizon) was hired about 6 months before Horizon's debut. I imagine it is similar for the other legends as well. So the final character model is made some time in those later six months.

Allot of legends go back that far actually Crypto and Revanant (as previously stated) were data mined all the way back in season 1 with blisk too After around season 3 we got to see a whole new roster of character concepts that eventually became loba, rampart, fuse, valkyrie, seer, vantage, and I think Newcastle Loba was going to be a cyborg theif who ran her own actual black market Rampart was going to be a guy who looked allot like fuses legendary white skin and I think he would have been able to fortify or replace doors as well Fuse was originally gonna be called pryo (or something similar) and his abilities were based more in thermites his passive was a longer thermite his ult was the same as fuses but the explosion would happen on his position rather than firing it into the air on top of another character who was based mostly in ordinance and could carry 1 extra grenade (this was data mined in season 1 or 2 as well I just failed to mention it) Valkyrie originally just called Valk was basically her but without her rockets her entire kit was just launching yourself into the air with no offensive abilities and it seemed super dumb if it werent for her being a portable jump tower (something everyone wanted back then) Seers abilities were never actually defined properly the only thing that was set in stone was that he was a scanner legend who used microbots to see people health bars not much else besides that Vantage I think was originally called vigilant though I'm probably wrong on that was going to be a sniper oriented legend her kit hasn't changed much but she was gonna be able to see sniper scopes through walls and her tactical was gonna be a pistol of sorts I think similar to ballistic or it was gonna be a flashbang but I cant remember Then later in season 5 or 6 we found out about catalyst and ballistic which was just gonna be a legend who could carry 3 guns and could give infinite ammo as his ult and his current weapon (the gun you were holding) would be set to the gold rarity Catalyst had the ability to reinforce doors and lay sticky traps on the ground that slow you overtime the only difference is her ult was gonna be horizons tac which would just be a giant black tower you and your team could stand on I think we also found out about Newcastle but he was way different I can't remember where or what season I heard about him in I just remember hearing something similar to his kit

I love every second of this. Forget the fact that this was a middle finger to data-miners, it is also just great storytelling. They got us to feel connected to Forge, and then killing him before he was actually in the game and introducing his KILLER as the new Legend is so sinister. We all saw that interview and thought "WTF just happened!?" I love shit like this; I also hate being spoiled, so I wouldn't mind more shit like this in the future. i remember when back in season 3, there's this dataminer that said revenant was supposed to be the new legend with the ability to go through wall (shadow form), and then suddenly forge was inside the game file, but everyone was saying that forge is the next legend, but the datamine on forge was full of hole (only existing of english translation, no translation in other language, too few of a description than revenant) so yea, i'm on the side that never believe forge was the new legend on season 4 since revenant's leak is more complete than forge

If i don't recall incorrectly. Forge's controversy was mostly because people was expecting Rev to be the next legends because every season so far had been following the same pattern: Legend gets datamined > The community writes their story > the legend actually drops with an accurate backstory (wink wink). So the whole shitshow on the subreddit and such if i'm not mistaken was because people was arguing over which legend was the coolest one, not much because of the abilities.

That would be such a great part of Rev's story too. Just the horror Rev would feel having this guy back again, and still toting Hammond's greatness because they saved his life. I thought that as well when I first saw him die like that. (I wasn't around during the whole Forge thing....so Rev was already out when I came along). I think it's just a shame to throw him away. They got a great concept and a great story arch for Forge and Rev if there were to do it. Put Rev on the ropes now and make the angry robo boy sweat a bit lol
