What happened to Ax Men? Deaths and the true reason why it’s canceled

The reality-television series “Ax Men” gained millions of viewers as it focused on the logging operation of selected logging crews in the woodland forests in North America. The show depicted the extreme risks that loggers go through each time they enter the forest, along with their personal dramas. The danger they encountered wasn’t limited to human or machine errors, but also to the unforgiving forces of nature that easily disrupted an operation without warning. For nine seasons, the series entertained and educated people about the logging industry, until it was canceled in 2016. After three years, History Channel rebooted it with the new name, “Ax Men Reborn,” and its 10th season aired in 2019. However, no 11th season was announced, and most fans believe that it might be because of the Covid-19 pandemic, which made filming difficult to undertake.
We'll try to answer to questions below in this video:
What is Ax Men?
Who is Ax Men cast?
What happened to Ax Men?
Who is Ax Men judges?
Is Ax Men canceled?
Where was Ax Men filmed?
Who is Ax Men host?

the producers clearly wanted people to act like morons on camera . most reality shows have the same formula . its no surprise professional logging crews don't want to be portrayed as idiots . its a shame because the logging industry is very interesting and a huge part of our culture and workforce across the nation

My parents rented a trailer to a former "star/logger" on the show. Your assessment is correct that it was the producers seeking more dangerous situations that caused his team to back out of the show.

I worked for a logging outfit for 10+ years and I found most of them to be drunk ignorant morons. Not highly educated. Not to insult. Many were good hard working people. But it is a different type of life. Small towns full of heavy drinkers . Buy was a great job and loved it but not the best paying gig. Ran loaders skidders and dozers. And ran saw.

@@billtmarchi4320 I do not know where you are located so it may be a regional thing. Our family has owned a logging company for 30 years. There are no drinkers, drug taking or the like involved with anyone that works for us. Everyone on our job is highly educated and we work hard for our family and for our community. We are a cut and Bunch crew for a One of the largest companies in the world, global not America. We are not millionaires living in mansions but everyone from the owner to the skidder operator makes a fair and decent living. Like I said before maybe it’s a regional thing I don’t know but that is normally not what you have with successful professional loggers in our area.

@@justmeimgigi5629 pretty vague statement. Depends on your idea of what logging is, what you consider highly educated, what you think a decent wage is, and what you deem as hard working. And successful and professional? What does that mean. What your idea of those could mean anything also.

yeah, exactly... the last straw for me was when they tossed the skeleton log trailer off the side of the mountain... I was like "this is bullsh!t" and was done from then on... truly a "jump the shark" moment! It did spin off some other shows... Shelby the river logger got his own show for awhile (season or two?) and they went down to Florida and started following a couple other guys, after the guy that was always cussing his son out even though the son was doing about 90% of the work... Never could stand that guy. Yeah the kid made some goofy mistakes but that's why you have to TEACH them how to do it right, not scream and cuss at them incessantly! My favorite of all the logging shows was "Swamp Loggers" over in North Carolina... it was a copycat or spinoff of Axe Men but done with much more class and taste, the family was likeable and good hardworking folks, and they were doing some really incredible jobs going into swamps that you couldn't walk across without sinking to your waist in mud with machinery weighing many tens of thousands of pounds... BUT after a couple seasons, you could tell the producers or writers or channel was REALLY pushing them for "more drama" and you could also tell they didn't particularly like it, and the show abruptly ended... I figured they got called in and told "MORE DRAMA!" and they said, "NOPE! not our style" and so the channel just cancelled it and cut their losses. Shame because it was a really good show! I even watched the Canadian one for awhile, where they were topping the giant trees and then cutting them down... don't recall what happened to that one... another copycat show. Later! OL J R:)

Some of the cast members gave interviews after the show canceled and said they didn't even work for the logging companies they filmed with. they would fly in on a weekend film get paid and fly back home. I did enjoy the show mainly for the saws and being in the timber and I would say I saw every episode. But you had to take it for what it was, purely entertainment.

i understand this is now a year old or so. i watched to the end. having said that, i also work in the woods. and yep, i'm 70 years old now. still out there cutting the wood. probably the most dangerous work a person can be involved in. why? basically because anyone with a saw can claim to be a logger. no training required, no oversight by knowledgeable people. trees are living beings. they are also unforgiving when you make a mistake and everyone WILL MAKE A MISTAKE!. i know a lot of people who worked in the wood industry and i know a lot of them that died in it. get the training before you even try to cut a little tree in the back yard, it will kill! and yes, i have had my times of "extreme learning" from the trees. you work with them long enough, you too will get "taught" a lesson or two by the trees. the only job i can think of that may be a bit more dangerous? dismantling trip mines in the bush. the vets will understand that one.

I was and still am a logger. Most of these guys were jokes. Most of the men I worked with although some were hard drinkers and cussers. Most were quite hard working family men Chasers and choker setters tend to be younger and were more likely to get in trouble most took the job to support a family. Luca

I wish they would have showed more cat logging and dozer and skidder logging on steep ground. Got tired of watching line machine logging. I worked logging for 10 years. Ran loaders and dozers. On some steep steep ground in rocks and bailing over steep edges and rock bluffs. Would have been interesting to watch people really outing skidders and dozers in hairy places. We had a guy who flopped his dozer once a week for a while. More interesting than line logging. To many stories to tell.

Back in the '50's, in study hall, I read the accident reports of Oregon. I realized "choker setter" was a job that would have opening forever. If the hard work didn't get them, the fatalities would. I worked in the woods for 15 years. The term "busted loggers" is no joke. A lot of old disabled loggers never win the fight for Workmen's Comp insurance benefits. And the odds are, you're going to get hurt. Though I've been out of it for years, I can say with certainty that Oregon's Workmen's Comp has NEEDED a top-to-bottom replacement. for decades. The State is crooked that way. As for "unsavory characters," it's cultural; get over it. It just keeps the culls out of the woods. You DO NOT WANT these people getting jobs in town; trust me! Stop by a loggers bar any time. But if you're going to the dance, grease your corks.

Makes me cry to see pictures of Jimmy Smith again. He was my neighbor in Cle Elum. Jimmy died from cancer from a bullety wound he got during a bank robbery in earlier life. The bank robber shot him as he dove under a table in the bank and the surgeons never removed it. The bullet was lodged in his pelvis. We shared many happy times together. He had a heart of gold.
