They aren't making much progress on the one though lol. SpaceX is testing their Starship and launching Falcon 9s nearly weekly now. I don't even think Blue origin has even made it to space before. I'm not sure what Bezos's plan is with it. Maybe since they are aiming at tourism, they don't want any failures to make the public doubt the saftey. That's my theory as to why they don't test much.

Though this is a nice quality video, the title is still clickbait. Use of the past tense “Happened” is misleading and suggests that Blue Origin is a failed or failing corporation. The video provides no facts or opinion that Blue Origin is failing, past the suggestion that it is losing government launch contracts because it can’t meet development milestones. Yes Decebal: I can’t believe anyone takes seriously this idea of hauling batteries back and forth to space as a means of supplying earth with additional energy. Jeff Bezos doesn’t know anything about science, certainly not physics, most certainly not the laws of thermodynamics. The guy is a laughable clown, and people only take him seriously because he has so goddamn much money as a Middleman merchant. America is a place where both the brightest people and the stupidest people rise to the top. Sadly, more of them are stupid and rich rather than intelligent and wealthy.

@sickbailey21
@sickbailey21 3 жыл бұрын
@@tyharris9994 depending on how the fuel is sourced and the rockets destination it could actually be positive for the environment. Whether costs would allow for that is another matter entirely, but they could be used to reduce carbon in our atmosphere. Source the fuel from our atmosphere and burn more outside of it than within and it would have the effect of dispersing it out in to the galaxy. Edit: Am not claiming this is the best way lol.

Was Ford too late after Mercedes Benz started building cars? Was Airbus too late after Boeing? We're still only at the first step of the space age. In a few decades the demand for launch providers will become so much greater than one company can handle. Any company that can get a succesful rocket system going in the next few decades has a potential grand future over the next century if not longer. Bezos has grand plans, and regardless of what you think of him, he has achieved a lot in this world and knows how to make things happen. He is adamant that New Glenn will be their smallest orbital rocket. Further down the line is New Armstrong, which will be a big step up. Don't be fooled by the lack of twitter updates, he's no Elon Musk but he has the money and stonecold business attitude to make anything happen. And Blue Origin has made massive strides in engine development and propulsive landing over the past decade that only a very select few organisations in the world can match. They are not too late and i hope both SpaceX and Blue Origin achieve all their rocket goals.

This recap leaves out the number of versions of New Shepherd in existence. The next version of NS must have some major modifications to make it more "robust". Besides tourism, if you imagine a little further out, the NS vehicle could be a basis for launching critical equipment repairs or bringing back people from space. This next NS must have much more modifications such as using LIDAR technology to make it more safe and effective. Future NS's are likely to go far beyond the Karman LIne. With the basic "robust" features in place for NS, and transferred to New Glenn, BO will be sprouting missions into space several times a month. Be a skeptic but, get informed about progress and vision coming together at BO before making simple remarks about this organization's capabilities. The prospects are enormous and so should be the capabilities. BO is doing fantastic work!

Passing Karman line requires only about 2km/s deltaV when going to orbit requires about 9km/s. The difference is huge. You can reach 2km/s by having any working rocket engine and bolting it into old oil tank or anything. To reach 9km/s, every component needs to be highly optimised, which makes design challenging. The reason why New Shepherd landing seems so controlled is because they minimum thrust is lower than they weight at landing and they have lots of fuel to waste. They can hower in the place and stabilise the ship. SpaceX, however, have more thrust than weight, so they need to time everything perfectly. There are very many variables like the wind, landing speed, engine thrust and altitude. And of course very little fuel to spare, and it is consumed very fast, making the rocket much lighter. SpaceX don't have a luxury to optimise they engines for landing because they have to optimise them getting into orbit.

The demand for moving heavy material and people into space over the next 50 years will be many magnitudes larger than what NASA/SpaceX are capable of. The New Glenn Heavy Rocket from Blue Origin is scheduled to launch in 2021 and already has three commercial contracts for services. I believe that NASA has also added the New Glenn to their launch services catalog. I live on the Space Coast in Florida, they are here alongside SpaceX and ULA and have been for several years in a large facility on the Cape. The biggest difference I see between SpaceX and Blue Origin, Blue Origin is not as public facing. Having multiple launch options is a good thing especially in a business where several launch failures can put you out of business.
