The Wizard started his gig in Cathedral Square in the 1970's Guy. It is good seeing in comments that The Wiz is still alive and casting spells. An intelligent, erudite man I always wanted to see a debate between The Wiz and an in his prime, I don't care where, As long as I am Mayor, Tim Shadbolt. I witnessed Shadbolt bring Manners Street and Dixon street to a halt one time when Tim did an impromptu atop a box in Pigeon Park in the lead up years to his political foray, the dude could fire and had just spoke for 24 hours straight for a Guiness Book of Records attemt at the worlds longest political speech, Tim eclipsed the 24 hours by 30 minutes to set the new record, stated he could have gone longer but 30 minutes was enough to eclipse the previous record but tack an extra 30 mins to the new record. Disater was to strike later that day when Guiness informed Shadbolt that a guy had done a 12 hour 45 minutes the day before and it had yet to be posted, what an anti climax that must have been esp when he could have gone another hour at least, he was GOOD! The youngies likely have no idea where I am talking about, Te Aro Park it is called the last 35 years ever since the council whacked all the pigeons. Both The Wiz and Shadders were a fantastic listen in their own right, if only it had happened it would be a Kiwi icon preserved for eternity on Video later to be digitalized, but, alas poor Yorick, NO.
