So Cloudsdale is like the pegasus Death Star. Though it's also where all their children live, so maybe bringing it to the battlefield against the quintessential ranged class is not the best idea. In any case, it seems that the "ZH is Canterlot" idea was scrapped. The movie crew thought about it, but they didn't dare confirm it. They didn't deny it either, though. The location on the map and the overall topography don't match very well, but who knows, maybe the showrunners will decide to bring this idea back anyway. As for Cloudsdale, I like the idea that the clouds surrounding ZH are what's left of it, but they are most likely an aesthetic detail with no deeper meaning to the story, just like Pipp's wings and the random flying critters. There's an old version of the script where the pegasi had a weather machine that was powered by the crystal, and the unicorns and earth ponies also used their crystals as energy sources. But in the actual movie, they really wanted to push the idea that there was no magic left at all. Then again, apparently they didn't count the Sun, the Moon and the cutie marks as magic, so who know what else doesn't count.

Cloudsdale is more like Columbia from BioShock Infinite, a giant floating city that also serves as a warship led by a religious figure. (Although Cloudsdale doesn't have a specific leader)

I actually asked one of the G5 concept artists if it was an inspiration for ZH, but they didn't answer. It's a shame that we never got to see who is in charge or Cloudsdale. The only authority figure we ever see from there is Spitfire.

Well, like they said all this aesthetic and plot holes can be used for a new lore. Hope the series writer will make used of it. I heard they still didn't know what to do with what happened that leads to the current world in G5 when the movie is still in the making. I want an episode where the Pegasi are looking into the Cloudsdale ruined after regaining back their magic and were in awe of the level of magic and technology of this ancient empire known as Equastria as they are able to control the weather and also Season. Even after regaining their magic, they were left unable to understand the magic and technology to control the weather in Cloudsdale as so much times have passed and they were extremely disconnected from the ancient knowledge of magic and technology of Equastria.

The weather being automated in Equestrian isn't entirely new. We've seen the frozen area around the Crystal Empire's weather be uncontrollable even with two Alicorns fighting it off, and the Everfree Forest is stated to have it's own ecosystem and weather that doesn't rely on the ponies' manipulations. What do these two areas have in common? There are no ponies who live there and have the abilities to control the weather. Zecora, being a zebra, has no wings, and the crystal ponies seem to mainly be earth ponies with Hope and the old princess from the comics as well as Cadence's family and later Sunburst being the only exceptions as far as residents with wings and horns go. My theory for the weather is that when the magic was locked away after the tribes fought, the ecosystems of Equestria adapted and became self sufficient. We don't know exactly how long the time jump between the generations is, but if it's enough time that current generations forgot about Twilight and her friends, as well as the harmony the ponies had before, then it's definitely possible for enough time to pass for that to happen.

Unless the war dragged on for a long time, I doubt thier technology would be much more, if any more advanced than the other ponies. Because before the war, they would all be at the same level of technology. They would definitely try and find a way to counter the other pony kinds though. I am currently working on a theory as to how they would do just that.

My theory is that before g5 actually started, the weather factory stopped working then the pegasi moved Cloudsdale to the mountain then positioned the clouds around the mountain then the crystals got separated which causes the ponies to lose their magic like they can't levitate stuff or fly but there is enough magic left to show cutie marks then the ponies worked together to get crystals back together then reunite pony tribes.

*theory one:* chances are, Cloudsdale evaporated when magic disappeared because it was that magic that gave the floating city both its stability and structure, and this is especially true when you consider that Cloudsdale looked to have been made more out of magic then just clouds being clumped together. If not, then it was likely abandoned because Pegasi: 1.) couldn't fly, so they couldn't return. 2.) probably lost their standing-on-clouds ability when they lost their flight. *Theory Two:* If we follow along the lore recent G5 comics gave us, it would mean that Cloudsdale had the real possibility that it was obliterated during an attack conducted by another tribe, likely Unicorns. This attack would then prompt the Pegasi to invade canterlot by using their air superiority and their control over the weather. the battle would end in victory for the Pegasi, forcing the Unicorns to Evacuate into what would be known as Bridlewood. The now-desolate Canterlot was rebuilt by the Pegasi, then they would claim it as their own, renaming it Zephyr Heights and eventually establishing their own Monarchy. *What did Earth ponies use to defend themselves?* They likely fought using the brute strength that they're historically known for having, or they simply ran away from their attackers, which is what they likely did the most frequently as they would be grossly outmatched if faced with either a Pegasus or Unicorn.

I think its because they lost their magic because a pony without wings can't walk on clouds. So they lost their magic, that a Pegasus can't walk on clouds or they'll just fall off. So they moved to Zephyr Heights with the idea of The Queen which how she became a queen.

Since Sparkel's Seven Canterlot got a permanent upgrade to it's air space defenses with wind turbines that were designed to hinder the flying ability of invading enemies. Only very skilled flyers would be able to counter it, but even then it's unlikely that an whole army would be able to infiltrate the air space and be able to pass them. If Zephyr Heights is rebuild Canterlot, the pegasi would have had to invade Canterlot prior loosing magic from their bodies, as there's little to no chance an weaken less magical army of pegasi would be able to do aerial invasion with the deference system up, even if and when they would be having skilled flyers.

I had just assumed as magic faded Cloudsdale was moved over top of Canterlot and eventually just fell apart above the city and the Unicorns ran away from the city as it's architecture incorporated magic and there was no "war". The Unicorns abandoned the City running to the Everfree where the tree of Harmony was and the pegasi picked up the pieces. Which mean yes I am saying Bridalwood is the Everfree Forest/Ponyville, which is why the place is forest full of crystals. As it grew back the Tree Of Harmony either spread into the forest of Unicorns took cuttings assuming growing new crystal trees would restore magic. Since losing magic depowered the monsters the Everfree was safe to settle and it's canopy hid them from the Pegasi. As to earth ponies, they just stayed in place while the Unicorns and Pegasi ran of to Canterlot and The Everfree respectively.

The Everfree Forest is described in the first episode to be quote: "Just ain't natural". So clouds are not meant to move on their own. The Everfree Forest is the exception, similar to how the wind around the crystal empire is enchanted, preventing Rainbow Dash from being able to hold the clouds back in the crystaling episode.

I have an idea of how the wather works for itself. We know Celestia and Luna were responsable for the sun and the moon and the pegasus for the weather, so we asummed that after their retirement Twilight will take over the sun and moon and the pegasus will continue doing what they do. BUT at the end of G4 we see Twilight and her friends aged up and the sun setting behind them, but Twilight wasn't doing anything. I'm not even sure if it stays in one place in G4 or drifts with the wind, but it would take a significant force of Pegasi pushing to move the city into an attack position. Also just because conventional weapons like arrows and spears would pass through doesn't mean a blast like say the one Starlight used to KILL DISCORD would not utterly obliterate a fortress made of clouds.

We learn in "Tanks For The Memories" that Cloudsdale is meant to bring winter to all of Equestria. What actually motorizes it to move is unclear, but I think it's safe to assume they have a method to control where it goes.

Since walking on clouds was a part of Pegasus magic, when all magic disappeared they were no longer able to walk on clouds. Thus couldn’t stay is Cloudsdale. But if you rewatch the episode “Hearth’s Warming Eve” When the three pony tribes found new land, there was a mountain behind the pegasi that I thought looked like Zephyr Heights. And when the three pony tribe leaders are being frozen in ice, they each say “Earth ponies are numbskulls” “Pegasi are brutes” “Unicorns are snobs” meaning they have always had the same opinions about each other even now in G5. I think the real question we should be asking is… where are the Wendigos?

The whole point of g4 was to bring friendship to all of equestria and have dragons, changelings,unicorns,pegasi,earth ponies,yaks etc etc become friends and then in g5 THEY THREW AWAY THAT WHOLE CONCEPT AND DIDNT EXPLAIN AT ALL WHAT HAPPENED

I was Looking at chapter five, wich came out yesterday (9-18) im curious because in the small videos where it shows how they got their cutie marks. hitch, sunny, izzy, zipp and pipp's cutie marks just.. APEAR! so it makes me wonder with misty, in the last episode in chapter 4, misty starts to just FLOAT And get her cutie mark. im probably guessing it has something to do with her age. misty got her cutie mark as an adult.

I'm not sure how much the alicorns intervened in this conflict. They weren't mentioned in the movie, so I just left them out. I don't think there was any one side that was in the right in this conflict, so I don't think the alicorns would join any side, or fight the others. They may not even be around anymore, who knows? But if they were to be fighting, they would use more powerful versions of Unicorn magic, moving the sun and moon into positions that would give them tactical advantages, deprive thier opponents of sleep with endless nightmares by manipulating thier dreams, and they would be able to see visions of thier opponents to learn of thier plans. Basically, alicorns are overpowered :P

well if they were losing their magic to fly they were probably also losing their ability to walk on clouds and since they wouldn't have the knowledge how to make houses out of anything then of clouds it would be easier to take over a already pre-build area
