I loved "Downtown" Julie Brown! She was so much fun to watch on Club MTV. What I hated most about the network was how they killed the music videos that use to play 24/7. That was it's trademark, and when they started letting go of their hosts, I stopped watching MTV. It wasn't the same anymore after that. But it's still good to see Julie again, that's for sure.

I am 33 so I never got to experience the 24/7 music videos but what I did get to experience was music videos playing all night long and sadly MTV put a stop to that and also to TRL with Carson Daily as it's host after all that ended MTV became total trash and completely lost my interest.

@@richiethev4623 Actually, you experienced some of it, so you're apart of the generation when music videos still played on MTV on primetime and so on. If it weren't for the old "I hate music, so I'm gonna make sure these kids don't have a better life than us." generation, MTV would still be intact. But these boring executives wanted the channel to change, and they're the one's pushing this reality and game show crap down our throats still. It's funny how we "Want our MTV." back, and the new generation want to experience what we had. And honestly, it would be nice because MTV was developed solely for music anyway.

But they created MTV's second channel to look like all the other channels because this was their plan all along...to increase cable access to grab a bigger audience (not knowing they already had it along time ago). Today, MTV doesn't have a strong following like it once did, but you can't tell that to the executives that nearly destroyed it that. They still keep pumping out these shows that even kids don't even watch anymore.

actually, the original "downtown brown" was downtown freddie brown of the nba's seattle supersonics (now oklahoma city thunder). he played in seattle from 1971 until 1984. known for his long- range shooting, he helped them go to the finals in 1978 before they won the title in 1979. his lifetime scoring average was 15 ppg.

Ms Julie Brown I met once in a chip shop in Swindon --- yes I kid you all not!! She was, at that time a (not so well known) host on an another music show on that earlier rival to SKY satellite TV. And, she was a child of I thought a US serviceman based at USAF/RAF Fairford, so Swindon (in Wiltshire, England) was the nearest 'metropolis' with any kind of nightlife. When she came into the chip shop, obviously her looks drew admiring glances, but I believe I was the only one who actually recognised her so said 'Hi Julie, nice to see you here' or words along those lines .... she smiled and said something equally pleasant in response with a huge smile. The other customers were quite surprised that we had chatted. (even a little jealous I might say). Anyway her order was a 'ring and collect' one, so she stayed no more than 30 secs or so, but I will never forget that encounter. She was indeed very beautiful in reality. Yes later she became a big star, but she had also danced on TOTP (a BBC weekly pop charts show) with a group who succeeded the iconic Pans People, as mentioned in the video called ZOO, but they were short-lived. Look up here on KZbin, a pop video from TOTP of 'LOVETOWN' by Booker Newberry III and she is the sexy little nymph in white at the bottom LH corner dancing alone (but as part of the show act). She could move.

If you are John Taylor of Duran Duran, we stood and briefly chatted at the bar of The Lord's Taverners pub next to the 'Grace Gates' at Lords (a famous cricket stadium in London) for some final or other back in the early 90s. You were with the beautiful Ms Amanda de Cadenet, who actually was the one next to me and being a ''local' at that pub (in those days), I was able to get you swiftly served by using my influence with the poor ever overworked bargirls, who were obviously my friends. I still recall that Julie was heavily featured on MTV at one time, and indeed was mostly doing the MC work for a week long spring break feature, when doing an outro for a commercial break, she had been flirting with a couple of collage age boys, one of which had put his arm round her, Julie thinking they had cut to commercial said on the air right before the actual sign out, “get your f**king hands off me! When they came back from commercials, Ed and Dre were featured for the rest of the weekend. I think that might have had a big influence on her departure from MTV since this all occurred in the afternoon, when younger viewers were likely to be watching.
