Not comparing the two ability wise but just like Ronaldinho, Hazard’s peak years created memories that are worth more than other players’ whole career. Football is all about moments and memories at the end of the day.
@Anon971239 ай бұрын
That's exactly what I was just thinking about. Some people say stuff like Ronaldinho is one of the best players ever and then people respond with "his prime was too short he's so overrated." And I imagine people will do the same with Hazard in the future. Truth is some players reach a level very few others in history have reached. Regardless of whether they maintain it for a long time or not they reached this unimaginable level that anyone who's ever kicked a football before can appreciate. That's the important thing they should be remembered for. Not this expectation that every great player must maintain their prime for a set number of years. Hazard had 6 amazing seasons at Chelsea and 2 at Lille. He had one stinker right in the middle of his Chelsea career which is why there's this narrative that he was never consistent. But 8 years is enough to cement him as an all time great for me just because of how good he was in his prime. Similar to Kaka too now that I think about it.

@@Anon97123 fully agree bro. Over the years I realized many people don’t know what a brilliant player looks like anymore because they never kicked a ball in their lives themselves. Their eyes don’t know how to recognize artists on the ball because they don’t value the finesse and technique. So when people with ball knowledge tell them “use your eyes to watch football” they don’t even know what to look for. They consider longevity more important than actual ability which makes no sense, because if longevity was the only metric for greatness, only Messi & Ronaldo would be in the conversation. They’re very unfair and unbalanced in their assessments because football is like Hollywood for them. They never played a sport competitively or shared a dressing room so it’s all bs opinions we get to hear as actual football fans. Sad state of football unfortunately

People need to realize that Eden Hazard failing at Real Madrid shouldn’t be that big of a shock to anyone. A lot of people are surprised that he failed there and I get it at one point in his career he was one of the best players in European football with Chelsea but as soon as he made that move to Real Madrid he became a shadow of his former self not only struggling with injury but was unable to replicate his previous form and he ended up being a player on a lot of money but couldn’t even get off the bench that’s how big of a drop off he experienced over the years and I honestly think that he was never set up for any success as a Real Madrid player. He’ll go down as one of the most talented players of our generation and we saw his brilliance at Chelsea but we have heard multiple stories from his former teammates that he was a great player with Chelsea but the worst trainer at the same time. I find it problematic because when ex teammates are saying this stuff about you criticizing your mentality calling you lazy it’s not a good look for the player but got away with it for a while due to the generational talent he had and eventually that caught up with him and relying on just your natural talent is never gonna be sustainable in the long run. Going to Real Madrid for big money and then showing up overweight this created criticism from many and that plays a part in his shortcomings there because you can’t always get away with not working hard and not being a proper professional in training and some of the things I’ve heard about him and his unprofessionalism Samuel Eto’o John Mikel Obi José Mourinho have all criticized him for not being a great trainer and football was always gonna catch up with him later in his career.

It’s really simple with hazard you can train like shit at Chelsea and they will still play you because they need to, if Real Madrid see you train like shit then it sets a bad example and they have enough depth and talent not to play you, why was bale treated so harshly tho? Scored some huge goals for them

The injuries killed Hazard some players don’t perform the same after surgeries and he had a lot of them.

It was silly of hazard to take the number 7 shirt at real madrid 🤦🏾♂️

Would Love to get Hazard to Man City as a super sub and a cup starter and cover injuries! what a Great asset like Gareth Bale ! PEP could transform him I remeber back in 2015 i felt like Hazard was invincible He was utterly ridiculous i truly was Afraid in a annoying way never had that ever before or since half of it in 1997 because of Man u but then i was 14 2015 i was 32

Honestly I think Hazard did pretty well. Yea he flopped at Madrid but his injuries were always gonna happen regardless imo. Take out Madrid from his career, and I think it’s a career we can al appreciate because he really gave the best part of his 20’s to Chelsea, and in that time he won PL and was also crowned the best in the league. No doubt had he looked after himself better, injuries wouldn’t have happened, and he could’ve been at an even higher level for Madrid. But far from a flop or a disappoint when the whole career is taken into account

No one is saying he flopped he's carreer we all know how good he had been at Chelsea but that doesn't exclude the fact the he did flop his Real Madrid transfer.

Imagine if Hazard wasn’t just a super hard trainer, but just put in like a normal level of work in training. He could have been a goat level player. Go watch a sarri season comp of hazard cause I’ve read he essentially *did not* train that season. He’d rock up at Cobham, fuck about, eat and go home. He took no tactical instruction whatsoever from sarri, he just did what he liked. We sold him for £150m 💀

What happened to Hazard in Madrid is a bit similar to what happened to Jonathan Woodgate. Although Hazard is clearly much more special, of course.

Good player, even great but easily forgotten. Personally never cared for him and find his drop off consistent with gifted players that ultimately dont care

Deli Alli? That's some drop off.

Can’t get away with the lazy trainer at Real Madrid, I’ve only heard this ‘worst trainer’ nickname from premier league players, Italian and Spanish clubs will eat you alive if that mindset comes near the club.

But the warning signs were there at Chelsea.. he could disappear for half a season

Most of the man he played with said he got away with being lazy in training, looks like it came back to bite him.

A natural talent with a lazy attitude. What a waste! He truly did have a special gift

Hazard could be lighting up the Saudi league if he just hits the gym 😂

It's funny because most of the players mainly midfielders with unreal passing visión and so on get underrated af with the years while goalscorers and dribbling players totally the opposite Hazard at Chelsea was one of a kind and still inconsistent as Chelsea has been always, one year at the level of the very top next one absolutely nothing at alk People forget it and it's basically because players with that quality are always remember better than they were and others totally forgotten and they were insane
