There were actually 2 players to appear before Eddie George on the cover Garrison Hearst was on the PAL version (the European version) of Madden 99 and ended up gruesomely breaking his ankle and was out for 2 seasons and never fully recovered. Barry Sanders is on the 2000 cover in the background to John Madden and he abruptly retired 1 day before the 1999 training camp This makes him the first athlete to appear on the cover twice. Also wanted to note, I think you guys meant he made the First All-Pro selection 6 times because he has 10 total All-Pro selections together because he made the Probowl every year he played

madden 08 was the last good in-depth madden there was, you could do everything, see everything and be anything. had all the hall of famers and create a team options. Absolutely everything madden fans wanted from a football game that game had. obviously aged graphically and there were some little things needed ironing out but man they really gutted the game. took out everything each year to make a skeleton of what it was with better graphics. they were only getting rich off the old format of making a good game, they wanted to get FILTHY RICH and added the micro transactions from fifa.

The curse doesn't just affect the player for the year there on the cover, proof: Michael Vick, Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham getting hurt in the soup bowl, Patrick Mahomes will never win another super bowl, neither will Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald's rest of his career was wasted with the Cardinals, Calvin Johnson retiring early, (yes this is probably just Detroit being cursed all together but let's just say it was both curses) Drew Brees never got back to the super bowl, and would go on to have multiple heart breaking losses, Richard Sherman's team would go on to lose the super bowl, and he would lose the super bowl again years later. Please realize I'm only talking about what the curse did to players the seasons AFTER the football season they were on the cover, not what happened to them the year they were on the cover.
