That GOD MODE Activated video from Steele was literally the final nail making me drop over 1300€ to get into fpv, it looked so freaking fun : ) You could see few years ago already all those videos of people trying to be like Mr Steele, with the stick cam and analog feed, or like Johnny FPV with the flowy juicy lines, doing the same, but not adding anything to it; same vibes, same tricks. It's the same nowadays, when originality gets copied, it's not original anymore, and it just fades into the maintstream; it's true for everything else. I used to enjoy watching fpv videos too, because they weren't obvious clones of another pilot, and it was refreshing to see and inspiring. The best thing to do is to keep pushing forward, enjoying getting out of the comfort zone, and keep experimenting 🙌

It's hard. When a hobby matures then, as you rightly point out, what was once exceptional becomes the norm and the norm can become boring. Pivoting is even harder though. People associate a channel with a particular topic and if they find something other than what they expected then chances are they won't watch. This is *really* hard for those who have built a career and a living by creating videos on a single topic -- what do they do when that topic is no longer as popular as it once was and revenues drop off a cliff? A creator who decides to pivot takes a huge risk -- will their existing viewer-base desert them before they find enough support from new ones? If not, they're toast. And... it's hard. If channels do decide to pivot then they have to realize that there are probably already a million other channels also well-entrenched in the subject area they're shifting to. They have a huge advantage, they already have critical mass. The answer is to simply make videos that get you (the creator) passionate and make them for yourself. If others also like them then that's great but it shouldn't be the driving force. I'd rather watch a Botgrinder video than a Mr Beast video because I appreciate gritty reality and honesty from someone who's enjoying themselves and happens to be doing it in front of a camera.

The new studio setup looks so good! I'm relatively new to FPV, and I'm still trying to develop my style. My goal is to just have fun and improve as a pilot. I don't feel that I'm interesting enough to make vlogs or voice over content, so I just try to fly as best as I can. Dude I havent watched FPV videos for around 3 years. Your content was always my favorite because it was RAW as fuck - pure scumbag fun. I had fun watching you get better even tho you were always on the edge of totally destroying your gear. Then we had a law here in canada that basically killed FPV unless you wanted to pretty much get a pilots license. Killed the vibe completely. Just started getting back into it and came back to see what you were up to. I gotta agree, the early days were awesome - now the content is regulated and.....safe. No fun. It’s the flow of the video that attracts without a dull moment and even with a dull moment, come with a great rebound that’s hilarious or a great explanation of the dull moment ! So editing is important to weed out those moments and that’s what you and good content creators do that pulls people in! But don’t get so caught up in editing that you seem like a robot doing it! Don’t be afraid to express who you are as a person! Like if you smoke weed then you smoke weed and people as myself can appreciate a person being them selves than trying to portray yourself as a perfect human that doesn’t have flaws! shoot the shit and express your differences to standout from the crowd! You have to be fearless to be great these days!

I think at this point it’s all about location, both for the audience and the pilot. When I was trying to get good at freestyle, I had trouble staying inspired because I don’t have great spots near me to go do crazy stuff around. Aux Plumes always has crazy places to fly which makes it cool to watch, but I imagine also makes him push harder and get crazier with flights. It’s hard to get to that point in a Best Buy parking lot. Bot grinder does the same in his own way. If he was still just doing office park rips I’d probably have drifted off like I have with a lot of other FPV channels. Between locations and personality, he’s able to keep it fresh!

As a newer pilot, I like to watch brand new pilots alongside me progress, improve, and encourage them to keep with the hobby. They/We need it more than the big names. For me, it is more of building friends than watching the trick/video of the week. I guess it is different for content creators vs just a bunch of people gathering to have a good time.

You’re right. FPV freestyle is more like skating now than it was in the beginning. It’s best when it’s just about friends hanging out doing something they love. Most pilots these days just edit flight videos to share with their friends, they aren’t trying to be vloggers because that’s a whole different hobby. I love ripping with friends and then throwing together an edit during the week to share my best moments with them. Love this hobby and appreciate you and all the others for showing the rest of us what it’s all about.

I was watching one of the latest videos from the Yard Buzzards. They train hop from City to City. In this newer video, they found a couple cool bando's in New York that I think you will probably find as cool places to research and rip some FPV through them for a future video. YT will not let me post video links for some reason. But look up the video title "Train Hopping Checking Out New York summer2024". Their bando exploration starts at 12:55 into the video.

So true. Drib when he actually looked like he was flying for fun and not selling a product. If you look at most modern vids with Bubby in, he looks depressed in them, like the realisation that FPV as an influencer is not what he wanted or maybe it's the whole warmonger side of Rotor Riot.

I liked making FPV videos back in the day because i liked watching my progress, i didn’t do it for anyone else. But almost 4 years ago i started paragliding and that has COMPLETELY taken over my life, i haven’t flown a drone in probably 4 years, I still have a couple of my favorites but sold the rest. And now i post paragliding videos, and i hope others like watching them but I still only do it to watch my progression, and progression in this sport is much more important, everything is, we can’t just smash into a mountain and keep flying, no we break pelvis’s, backs, femurs, heads, or worse. Unfortunately i have seen some really amazing people get hurt very badly, I’ve luckily not, I’ve had some close calls but no injuries more than a few bruises and sprained ankles. But I do still like watching FPV videos if they are good. The old johnny FPV reverse wall ride was my all time favorite, he’s just got such great flow, and he really started the flowy, flick style. There’s was also a guy from Hawaii that was really really good, don’t remember his name but he was on another level

This is a very true video, the over all vibe of fpv has changed. I personally think that its because there isn't the main stream idol any more. Before I remember being so pumped about fpv and the names that come to mind are mrsteel, ledrib, bardwell, and you botgrinder. I feel like thats part of the pashion that has been left behind, which is sad verry sad. I remember going to the fpv meet up in dc after the march for fpv in front of the FAA building. I think I was 13 at the time, and mr steel, bardwell, and ledrib were all there! It was the coolest thing to get to actually meet your idols, the people you actively watch on a daily basis (sadly, you wernt there yet, pretty sure they said you were hung over lmao). But thats the part I think is currently missing from the FPV seen, main stream idols that the entire community collectively looks up too and adors. ❤ atleaset that's the part of the community I miss most Love u botgrider keep making that og content 🤟

I only post a video like once a month, usually a some “fun testing” or something. If I do a review I don’t just unbox it, read the specs & fly in my backyard, I try to do something interesting AND I don’t have affiliate links… BUT for me it’s just a hobby, a way to share my findings with folks. Overall though I do think viewership has dropped, and I believe it’s because every person that’s started FPV in the last two years did so simply to become a content creator… like everyone that owns a drone has a custom-made “pilot logo” now, haha! Oh well, it’s “the death of hip-hop” again, but a few people will keep the hobby alive. Speaking of which, pop some headphones on and listen to J-Live “the best part” album, it’s pure gold. It's time for something new. Noone knows what it is till it drops. Patiently waiting on the new fpv thing. I watch your videos cause it has flying and NEW stuff to talk about.

The crawler video was awesome. Don't worry about the hate. They're all just toys. I do crawlers and fpv. You should try amateur rocketry!

Travel vlog + FPV!!! There's a vlogger wandering around my country. They've got a mavic so they got some nice standard drone shots of the beaches and hills and shit, but if I had the budget it would be awesome to hit the same spots with a 5".
