I have been using the binding phrase with all my quads and transmitters on ELRS (micro, all the way to 7") so regardless of the radio I brought with me (RM pocket, qx7 with Betafpv module, or RM boxer), everything just works. My favorite way to go out is with a micro or 2, my Grinderino, and then one of my 5" quads.

I've been thinking about doing the exact same thing for the exact same reasons. I bought the Demibot with the intention of finally going 6S & digital but then I just never got around to it. Haven't flown in almost a year. After talking with a streamer buddy up in Canada we both came to the conclusion that having a couple of whoops and micros and maybe one 5 inch is the way to go. You can whoop anywhere and micro is all the fun of 5 inch without as much risk or cost giving you access to far mor flying locations. Having to make a day of flying 5 inch and lugging around my big Torvol bag is a pain in the ass anyway. I just wanna fly & have fun.

For the stripped bolts for those who have not upgraded them yet, definitely worth having a pair of smaller vise grips with a flat tip. Even the little micros you can usually grab onto it and break it loose without resorting to needing an easy out. The worst one I had, I just used a small bastard file to give myself a flat on either side. Came right out nice and easy. Also don't forget to swear at it during the entire process. 😉

My own quads have been tiny whoops and a 3” 5-6s build I love flying. My 5” is a hand-me-down from my dad that scared me because the way it handled was so different and the analog camera sucked and vtx was very noisy. A new camera and added capacitor and suddenly I could see properly and calmed down, realized it was not at all a freestyle build, it was a race quad and all it wanted to do was race. Then I could have fun with it once I understood the design. Maybe someday I’ll give a 5” feeestyle build a chance, so many good analog or even vista 5” freestyle builds are getting offloaded for peanuts as people move toward micros and cinewhoops.

Ever since the o3 came out (sorry bot), i fly my 3.5" quads more than anything else. The recording quality is good enough, it rips hard enough, it doesn't piss the Karen's off nearly as much, and it's so much easier to find places to fly. It's the sweet spot for me, and because of that i fly much more regularly than when i relied on my 5" for freestyle.
