Oh definitely not. Especially since Gon takes after Ging in many ways, and Ging is one of the best Hunters in the hxh universe. So I feel like Gon will end up being like Ging when he's older (in a good way). Not to mention Gon was the main protagonist for most of hxh so I doubt Togashi would just abandon him, he'll definitely be used later on in the story

I will always harbor an intense interest in Gon and his potential. I also very much understand that Gon is thematically finished and set aside as a complete narrative. That being said, I would love to see him reemerge after a time skip of sorts, having returned some of his potential and grown into a more mature mindset. @Wraith Ferron and @Hans Hanzo is his story really done though? Seems kind of half-assed to have a 10 year old that only knows his aunt and dad from his family just say, “you know what? I don’t care about the rest of my family.” That plus the info that Gon is has aura and someone in Gon’s family has been mapping the dark continent tells me that the Freeces family has a large part to play in their own arc. The perfect way to start that arc would be to have an older Gon get curious about the rest of his family (including the mother he never met and we haven’t been introduced to) and seek out info on them, which leads him to the answers are on the dark continent. That way he would have to train (probably with killua and Maha since Maha has been there and gives togashi time to talk about young Netero and crew), kurapika could be tied in since he will have dark continent experience, leorio could be tied in as their doctor, and Ging’s connection is pretty obvious. As you can see, I don’t think there is really any closure to Gon’s story at this point. If this is where his story ends, it’s pretty half-assed writing imo.

My thoughts: I think that Gon will be coming back. Togashi has stated himself that hxh is nowhere near the end. So while it will take awhile, but at some point I believe Gon will come back into the spotlight. Right now, his goal is to get his nen/aura back and find a purpose. Assuming Gon is out of the picture for a few seasons, if he does come back for some kind of distress reason like you pointed out by the time he is back, he will most likely have his nen back and possibly even a new goal already. His goal at this point could even be just to fight and stay alongside his friends. While it would be a "twist" to shounen to take the main character out of the story, Gon already has such a large fanbase and he's already contributed too much to the story to be taken out. In fact, I think it would be worse writing on Togashi's part to take out a character you spent so long building up rather than finding a way to get them back in the story. Of course this is assuming hxh ever comes back, and if it does I have high hoped Gon will still be a main focus of the story.

There's literally a 0% chance that Gon's just gonna be content sitting around living out a normal life. I imagine he won't be important to the story for a long time -- even if we assumed HxH were able to suddenly become weekly consistently and Togashi's health was miraculously perfect it could be years before we'd see Gon again, maybe a timeskip or just a succession of arcs, maybe he'd never be the main protag again even, but I can totally see him going on his own adventures and finding his own new meanings and goals and training specifically to push the human body to ridiculous extremes without the use of Nen at all, or try his best to figure out ways to do so. Gon’s perspective was a good introduction of hunterxhunter by setting us up with a character that is just as clueless as we are, that still has much to learn about Nen and the people. Now we’re at a point where we are going to see the world of hunterxhunter, there are many people involved in these turns of events that we all wanna look into. I really enjoyed following Gon’s story, but I like to believe that we’ve outgrown him. Of course, I like to see him come back with a surprise Nen ability or whatever

Togashi is prone to taking sudden swerves in his story. If an arc isn't working, he ends it and moves on to something else. If a hobby or niche profession catches his attention, it's going to be the focused on with an unusual amount of depth. To be honest, when Gon lost his powers I didn't think of it as a sign that Gon was going to be come less important, it was a sign that Nen was about to. The series has come a long way since Gon was just a boy with an unbreakable fishing pole and senses so strong he could track people by scent alone. With how Nen focused the Chimera Ant arc was, I could imagine Togashi being exhausted by it and wanting a change of pace. Especially after he had to spend so much time explaining just how the Chimera Ants got access to Nen in the first place because that was the only way a group could still be a threat to the main characters. It's a bit of an arms race at this point, the power creep is setting in and everything is decided by Nen abilities. HxH combat has always been about out-smarting and out-maneuvering your enemies, with or without the power system, and I don't think it's 100% necessary to have Nen central to every arc moving forward. The Succession War leans into this theory, with most of the princes not being Nen combatants themselves but instead utilize Nen by proxy. But who knows? The arc could go in a million ways or maybe get interrupted by something completely different, you can never tell with Togashi. As for future arcs, there's a chance that Gyro has no Nen, and that all of his threat will come from his intelligence and charisma alone. And who knows what the Dark Continent holds? Maybe the reason Netero was so disappointed was that none of the threats challenged his martial arts or nen using skills, and Gon's sharp nose and affinity for nature makes him the perfect candidate to take it on. Needless to say it could go a lot of ways, maybe Gon will get his Nen abilities back and maybe he wont, but I believe that matters less than you'd think in terms of him continuing as a main character.

Gon was restored by Nanika to the point he was before (likely just before the transformation but with most of his aura node closed) Ging could see his aura when they meet as he said in chapter 345, Gon just need to re-awaken his Nen.

Honestly, I think this is Togashi's way of doing a "timeskip" for Gon and Killua. In order to allow them to have more possible stories, they need to grow up (together or apart). So the shift in perspective to Kurapika and Leorio is a nice way of going about it as these 2 characters weren't really in "play" during the Chimera arc but part of the main cast we were introduced to. I am curious if the dark continent arc will actually pass the time in the story "faster" and since most of the Zodiacs and powerful characters are part of the ship, it ended up creating a big power vacuum in the "old continent". What if this vacuum is where Gon and Killua could take part in while most of the other cast are away? And when the others do get back, everyone is older (or maybe time moves "differently" in the dark continent and it presents it as another "calamity type" event) Maybe the existence of Gon's/Ging's relative who wrote the books of the dark continent also play a part in something to this effect/revelation later on. I am just patiently waiting for new chapters but I am not getting my hopes up. The last chapters are actually hurting my head as I have trouble remembering events and characters, plus they are word vomits of exposition, more than the Chimera Arc (in my opinion). But I have to admit, quality is still there. There is just TOO MANY FREAKING CHARACTERS NOW! I don't know who they are anymore and what significance they hold.

I could watch it if Ging was the main character during some of the dark continent arc, but not for the rest of the series. Kurapika has a better character than most anime characters and protagonists, but after having Gon as a mc, Kurapika would taste like water to Gon's orange juice

@@ammaryaseen509 I would watch it because it's not just Gon that I'm interested in it's the concept of nen and the dark continent. For example,(MAJOR ATTACK ON TITAN SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT!!!!) Isayama thought that attack on Titan was something that we watched and read for the concept of titans and surviving which is why there is a potential sequel to continue the concept, but the reality was, we just wanted to see a good, well written, story. For hunter x hunter, the people that wanted to just see a story, are only interested in Gon's, and they don't care if it's called "Hunter hunter" and not "Gon". The people that are interested in the concept and the story, are the same people that are ok with Gon leaving for a little while.

Now that I think about Gon really did sacrifice everything he built up just to meet his dad. Became a hunter, sold his license. Learned nen, sacrificed it in a fight. Then found his dad, just to go back home. It makes sense that he’s done lol

He could either go the short route like he did the first time or he could go the long route, which I think he will, to be able to USE nen again. Conjure is a bad word to use since conjurer is a type of nen user but I still understand what you mean.

Gon is not the type of protagonist who will save everyone and try to help his friends. He focuses on his goals and has already found his father. It boggles the mind how Kite is left out of all Discussions and Lists for new Protagonists, or even out of Hunterx-Hunter-Videos overall. On this channel, but also on KZbin overall, all Analysis and Theorys seem to mysteriously end with his Death - even though he literally survived it!! Even Hisoka is consideres a possible new Protagonist, when Kite is so much better in any regard. People, even Hunterx-Hunter-KZbinr, seem to have forgotten about Kite. Colour me confused about all this.
