That may be the case with some people but Sam didn’t know anyone in the ANC. He was lucky, he worked as a truck driver and gained insight into the industry and used that knowledge to better his own life. He made mistakes of seeking public validation. His “friends” were jealous as well

There is a huge difference between an entrepreneur and a tenderpreneur. The former conducts business in a conventional way, while the latter uses political connections and nepotism to accumulate instant wealth without running any business per se. A tenderpreneur doesn't employ anyone nor produce any product. All they do is becoming a middleman, and the ANC calls that black economic empowerment. Even if this BEE can continue for 10 centuries (1000 years), more Black people will be poorer than we have now. Only a select connected few will be enormously wealthy, but without the means of production.

But Sam was not a tenderpreneur. He had a contract with a mining company. He built his business from the ground up from a truck driver.

Sam never had 50 trucks but he had truck slots so most of this trucks were bought by individual and other companies just with his name on to fulfill is contractual obligations and the farm story is rubbish he got a pay off from a front trucking companies that was using his name illegal and gained a few trucking slot as a pay off
