Nice video, thanks for also covering that the SoDOff emulator exists. I’m one of the developers of the emulator and it’s always nice when it’s mentioned. Aside from a few missing features (friends, clans, chat) it is exactly how SoD was, except no membership fees or payments. Hope this helps people who want to play again.

I understand your prespective and hers to be honest. If she switched games she would not see the same number of views that playing SOD would give her. Thats why she felt forced to keep creating SOD content. But at the same time she is the one who made her own community and then wants to change away from it. Its contradicting but still can be understood.

I used to play school of dragons, but i ended up deleting it after being unable to collect eggs for a quest. A few years ago, i came back to it for a day or two before deleting it, since i felt the quality had worsened. I would've never guessed it'd shut down, and I'm sad it's gone, since it was a huge part of my childhood

I stopped playing for a couple years for similar frustractions. I had gotten the Wispering Death egg from a quest and was so excited to get a dragon other than my starter dragons, only to find out that I needed a stable to hatch my dragon. When I finally started to play again, soon before the game ended, I got lucky with a game glitch that allowed me to find and open that free chest in every section of the game and the limits and adds I was supposed to have wouldn't work, so every time I went into a new area I could open a chest. Doing that I could get stables for free often enough that I was able to hatch my dragons, I also got tons of dragon eggs of the base types like gronkles and nadders. I thinked I ended up with over 20 gronkle eggs, it was wild. The best I ever got was a single Storm Cutter egg from a chest, ironically I got that literally the day after I bought a Storm Cutter with gems I'd been saving for weeks. Oh well, I got all the dragons for free after the devs made everything free for the last few weeks of the game anyway.

God, i remember it too well. My parents always said no to gems, so i saved up gold coins to help me get things. I still remember my hobgobbler Buddy. He was my favorite. My first "good" dragon stayed up all night to get him. And my ice gronkel thing. It was so ugly (red and white), but god, i loved that dragon. Always with me and buddy. And in the end, it just broke me when you said they are still waiting, like, dude, my babies😭😭😭😭

Honestly it wasn't so hard to play SoD for free, you just had to have patience, save up for a Hobblegrunt (that was cheap) and do many boat fights and due to a glitch you were sorted. Just needed to do some grinding.

Yeah, I played for free as well. As a kid I gave up quickly but when I grew up being patient was much easier. I got lucky with a chest glitch where the limits on how many you could open a day were broken and the add never actually played so I got lots of free things that way

I ended up moving to rise of berk and dragon adventures on roblox, I had spent about 4 years playing SOD. I could care less about the graphics or glitches, I loved it.

I loved this game so long ago. I couldn’t progress very far because there was a glitch which caused me to soft lock progress in the arctic area. So I was left kinda hanging around because I wasn’t allowed to buy in app purchases. I did have a lot of fun exploring some of the out of bounds glitches though specifically in the arena area. There was a glitch where you could fly to the top of the cliff and go out of bounds that way and fly up and under the dome thing you did the fire mini game at. It was a ton of fun hanging out with other people and being a part of the community with events and such.

I had just been been getting back into this game when it was announced that the game was going to be deleted. I had finally saved up enough gems to buy my first dragon egg (a bundle set with a Storm Cutter and a Skrill, two dragons I wanted), and then the announcement happened. I spent every day playing that game while it was still around, and I've always loved it despite the horrible loading screens and constant crashing. I got as many dragons as I could when everything was made free and did my best to complete all those special expansion packs, but I couldn't finsih everything. I still enjoyed everything I got to do. I played this game as a kid so I'll miss it a lot. I hope someday there's some kind of remake of this game that uses the same concepts but has a better foundation for a game of this scale so it looks better and runs better. This game had so much potential that never got put to use.

My gosh… just watching this video brought me down memory lane. I played SoD since 2015 and I remember the old layout of the game (just seeing TinyTurtle’s clips). Just seeing Silver, I remember her videos. I used to watch em quite a bit as a kid. When she said “because of you, I hate this game” which to me sounded off but I understand why she said that. Being forced constantly to do something constantly makes the experience less and less enjoyable. I felt bad for her Silver but she could’ve worded it differently. Like “This game wasn’t very fun for me since a lot of the fans were asking me to play it”. Or something like that idk. I miss School of Dragons so much 😢😢😢

It shut down 2 years ago, because they werent making enough money off of it and it was draining their money keeping it up, so they shut it down. But you can get a downloax link that would allow you to open it and play it online, but you cannot use chat. Aint no way your using gameplay of tiny turtle and little lizard at least put props to them. Not fewer players were sticking around. THE shutdown so many people were there to say goodbye. I was there went it shutdown. And most people didnt care about the glitches i for one didnt, i played on a 10 year old tablet at my grandmas and it ran great.

Firstly this was about the general playerbase , there was no rate of growth and statiscally the playerbase had dropped and wasnt going to see a big influx anytime soon. Secondly all gameplay is credited in the description and i didnt even try to hide their name. Thirdly , the reason the gameplay wasnt as satisfactory to the general public is because the gaming quality has advanced ten fold since the game came out. The market had better things to offer and the gameplay experience of the game was no where close to what other games were providing.

if i had a nickle for every time someone used my quickly edited clip of the game shutting down i'd have 2 nickles, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice jokes aside, great documentary about the game!! i really enjoyed revisiting those memories after, what, 2 years now? i still really miss it to this day though, i wish it stayed forever, for the 10th anniversary they had planned to give us a swordstealer dragon and our very own, customizable light fury... the developers tried their best and failed, but in the end they still gave us tons of great memories

Oh, i actually remember this game! It was fun while it lasted though. But yeah, it was like EXTREMELY bugged sometimes, and the gems was extremely hard to obtain without paying (buuut there was a lots of ways to use glitches to dupe gems, like I remember how here was referral invitation that was bugged and you was able to invite your own account and just get gems over and over) so yeah.. Although some things was really cool there like mini games, lots of islands and the dragon themselves (at some point they ever tried to improve old dragons, giving them better animations and textures) but alas.. If only they could have more developers in the team to fix all the bugs, and maybe have subscription model instead of freemium one.. Maybe they could have made their game actually good and it could still live..

the fact the devs didnt bother fixing the massive bugs, glitches, lag but would rather cash into the p2w crap was crazy the games been out for years and you would think by now just hitting 2025 they should do something about it? i first played this 5yrs ago and poked around with it, i did buy a dragon but it was like 2-5 bucks at the time. but quit due to being overly buggy,broken. i come back prolly 1-2 years after to check due to "new stuff" were added, the game hasnt really changed, the loading screens were so bad.. i had high tier pc + internet and it was still having problems with just this game.. like im super surprised the devs didnt just shut this down or let it die.. Neopets i wouldnt bother, their servers were hacked, alot of info had been copied, stolen and the devs of neopets just kept going like nothing happened, more cashgrabs.. the site is still unsafe today..

I remember coming home from school and playing that game it was a pat of my heart when a couple years later i lost my ipad a year later i found it i played my heart alt but a couple days later i forgot it but when i seen it i gone on is straight away but the message was in my screen i don't know what it meant so i got it on my phone it wasn't on the games store i asked my mum and she told me i started crying my eyes out i still have that game on my ipad but it doesn't go on the game just the lodging screen 😭😭😭😭😭

Great video. My kid loves this game, is the equivalent of going to Hogwarts for her. When support stopped in 2023 she missed it a lot, then we found out about the fan made SodOff emulator and it's playable again.

Any game which is in a popular movies universe is bound to attract kids because thats all we wished for as kids too. Growing up we had the The Robinsons , The Cars and The transformer games which felt surreal to play

its UNFORTUNATE, i believe they couldve in some way remade the game and did it differently with the 'forced payment', i understand that all that was done probably in a few months since the first movie came out with all the graphics and simple tasks, it was a good game, i kept installing it, deleting it, i couldnt deal with it being hard to manage and especially NEEDING to buy toothless or other dragons just made me straight up DISAPPOINTED; they need a new game, the ps3 game is alright but it isnt the so called adventure, its more focused on fighting or so, and the journey is a specific chinese game that needs YOU to have chinese id, tis basically gatekept; no other good game exists, were upset, dreamworks hand out a good httyd game PLEASE
