@@PrimeSportsNetwork I know what the movie was attempting to do... and it was good until the end when m night ruined it with such a laughable ending. So, highly advanced aliens run around a new planet completely naked, then get trapped in a kitchen closet, and never at any point realized most of the planet they are invading is covered in a substance that is deadly to them..right.. only a simpleton rube would be able to maintain cinematic suspension of disbelief through that. Just because it's a story about faith doesn't mean it has to be idiotic. I wish I was more simple. I would be able to enjoy poorly written movies more.

I don’t understand why Signs receives so much criticism. Not every film he makes has to equal the Sixth Sense. An alien invasion told from the perspective of an isolated family is intriguing and I love how he tied in a man grappling with a loss of faith.

I can understand why. He was being hyped up as the next Alfred Hitchcock. The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable were under his belt. Both movies had a very serious tone, and the plots were pretty strong (i.e., there weren't many blaring plot holes). Signs took a bit of a different direction. It had it's share of silly scenes and dialogue. The water thing was arguably a pretty big plot hole. It feels pretty different from his first two films in terms of it's "tone". Mind you, I LOVED Signs. But I can see why there was criticism. Critics had set VERY high expectations for Shyamalan, and built him up as the next big thing in cinema, and that resulted in expectations that almost inevitably would lead to disappointment.

People found the aliens and the water stuff approaching ridiculous. I’m not sure I’d go quite that far, but I’d say whenever a movie deals with aliens it has a lot of preconceived notions it has to overcome. It was just too much in this case. I think this was still a really great movie.

A lot of people think the aliens were actually demons. That idea changes the entire movie. Look up videos that talk about this. It makes a lot more sense than aliens. A lot of the choices they make dont make a lot of sense. They are confused about opening doors, water burns them but then why come to a planet where water is everywhere including the atmosphere and not once do you see any ship. And all you hear is that and then, BANG!!! We jumped so high on that one. But that is just one amazing scene in a movie full of those and then people get hung up on the aliens being sensitive to water. Oh well. We got a great movie with one little flaw that you only realize at the end of the movie. But it's still a great movie. So enjoy it. That's my 2 cents, if it's worth that much.

I wish I could remember where I read it, but I saw someone post this theory in response to water-weakness criticism: Survival training. Just like we do with our military, the aliens were conducting exercises in a hostile environment without protective gear or weapons. Remember, after they leave, it's reported on the radio that the aliens snatched up some humans before leaving. So, look at it as, "Your orders are to deploy into a hostile environment with no protection, survive for X number of hours, grab samples of local lifeforms, and bug out." And, if they were planning a bigger invasion to follow, it makes more sense that they would be doing survival training at that point. The explanation worked for me.

And the glimpses of the aliens were super well done until, to me at least, Shyamalan showed too much of them which diminished their level of terror imo.

He should have made the aliens weak to methane instead and had melly gibbons trap it in a cupboard and kill it by farting through the crack of the door.

The invasion plot would actually make a ton more sense if the aliens were weak to methane.

This movie will get a continuation in movie format. It's coming. If I had to bet, they'll do the same day of the invasion from the eyes of the parents who threw the Brazilian Birthday Party.

Signs is one of those films that could be called a perfect film. It comes together so well and setups and payoffs are textbook. This should be an example in film school along with some of the other examples used in this review. Its really hard to pick this apart and find real liget issues with the film. I do not share this across most and/or all of his films but this is a great one where Knock at the Cabin is probably the cleanist looking movie with about the quality of Troll 2, or that really bad Jeepers Creepers: Reborn and/or the newest Hellraiser movie, where the movies have a look of quality but are actually very very poorly done. Night is hit/miss these days but Signs is of high quality storytelling.

Signs was weak for me because the twist that everyone was expecting was corny. He knows what to do because of his wife’s letter to him? The aliens decided to visit a planet that is mostly water and it rains?

Anyone else feel a little clickbaited by the title of the video? Making it seem as if Signs was removed from platforms or rather.

Signs is probably my favorite M Night film. Love the 6th sense and split but Signs had that fun factor that old school 80s Spielberg had. It was like a fanily adventure with serious enotional beats thrown in to make it a deeper story. My only problem is the CGI towards the end. And i didnt know ILM did it! Wtf happened?? Its probably one of the worst held up CGI from a legendary studio. Still, Absolutely adore this film
