Her signature voice not only set her apart from her peers in the music industry but, made her one of those artists that you could automatically identify the moment she opened her mouth. It took her a long time to get her career off the ground but, when she finally did she was off and running. However, just as quickly as she shot to the top of the charts, she came crashing back down. Consequently, the combination of dealing with a failing career and numerous person issues sent her to the lowest place she’d ever been in her life.

I'm not a fan of her music. But I love her when she does movies. And I did wonder where she went.

When you don't have ' the look' people will judge you harshly for just about anything. And that is what happened to Macy. Tracy Chapman is a whole other story so no need for comparisons. I wish Macy all the best. Do something is my all time favorite song of her.

@Nina Westlake I agree no comparison to Tracy Chapman, but I will put her in the category of Angie Stone. Both beautiful and talented women.

A friend of mine sings backup for her and they spent a lot of 2019/2019 touring. The shows looked fun.

Singing wise she hasn't been AS relevant BUT she's been acting. I've seen her in a number of films. Even box office hits.

She’s a great character. Says it as it is. I’m not what you would call a big fan of her music but the songs I do like are I like a lot. Great voice.

I wish she would've played Nina Simone in the movie. I 🤔 she would've done it justice. They have similar personalities.

This was cute, but I'd like a full Unsung episode on her. She's one of those artists from my childhood that I just never could get into or understand. She just always seemed so eccentric, but now that I'm an adult I understand that's something unique and sets you apart. My overall already developed opinion of her is just one big mess. Hopefully, she's doing better now with the band that's mentioned she formed at the end of the video. I wish the video had mentioned she "mentored" Sunshine Anderson at the start of her career also.
