The final 20 seconds of this video was removed due to a copyright infringement issue enforced by the NRL. This portion talks about how Vatuvei is rebuilding his life. This was the text that was cut from the video. "Vatuvei also finds purpose in his role in his voluntary mentor role which he was offered to by the New Zealands Warriors where he educates younger athletes on the pressures and mental battles that come with being a professional athlete. It’s obvious that time in prison has helped him developed that sense of self and allowed him to turn his life around."

Your still a great warrior superstar brother manu everyone makes mistakes no one has a perfect life we all fall short of the glory of god so for all does judgement people about him focus on your own life and big ups manu for doing something good for the south Auckland community there's an old saying it's not about how much u get hit in life and fall it's about how u come back from it turn it in positive ways that defines a person godbless u brother manu stay positive 👍💯🙏

As a player in the modern game Manu was simply awesome during his time in the NRL. Ex players going off the rails is nothing new. The NRL is a multi million dollar business making huge profits each year. I recon they have a responsibility to give back to ex players because they have actively contributed to the creation of those profits. Surely it would not be rocket science to produce a working program that guides these athletes post retirement. Many need a career plan for life after rugby league. TBH, it should begin the moment a player is graded. It is well overdue IMHO.
@mr.e..
@mr.e.. 5 ай бұрын
Looking after the player's future after sports is one area that the US does much better in. College sports all have their own leagues and are hugely popular (and profitable). The athletes are given a free university education, and at the same time, they learn how to play and perform on the big stage. I know not everyone thinks a degree is important, but at least it gives the players some options after sport. A lot of NRL players are picked straight out of high school and have zero experience in anything else, so when their career ends at 35 or so, they have very few options open to them.

You believe in what you believe in, and i believe in what i believe in its what makes us all unique! It would be a pretty dull world if we all thought the same i reckon lol but i guess its about having these convos and meeting somewhat in the middle and having an understanding for both sides.. I would suggest this is more of a rise and fall and rise again. he still the goat and all of us kiwis who grew up watching him, understand what he went thru as we all go thru similar things in life, depression/anxiety is common in young men these days unfortunately. The main point here is, he has pulled himself out of living in the dark and is now doing positive things for himself and others. Much respect. Nice video.

Vatuvei was a sporting hero then he imported and sold meth think of all the misery that has caused in the community!!! Even in his playing career he was a top try scorer but made many many errors especially at the start of his career that caused Warriors to lose a lot of games. The guy seems to get a lot more chances than the average person...maybe delivering food parcels to families effected by a meth addiction might help undo some of the damage of selling Meth...

Why do you think the NRL went to Vegas? It's because they're clutching at straws against the downfall of the code. It's all for the betting dollar as the heads said, due to the time zone its one of the only sports you can bet on live in Vegas at 3am. The downfall is due to parents not wanting they're kids to have multiple concussions by the time they reach six years of age, and fair enough if your push you child into NRL they may aswell do boxing as the aim is the same, to hurt the opposition as much as possible. People need to realise big sport is a money making machine and nothing else. All the clubs, fees, memberships, ticket costs and merchandise is what fuels the machine that's why you see the AFL trying to get into China and NRL in Vegas becaus it's a business. Silly business I know so just have one more tournament, decide the winner and leave it there as we have far more important things
