You know how that goes... once the major labels stop backing you its pretty much over after that. Most hits are manufactured through radio spins playing it all day everyday to force the listeners to eventually like it through repetition... so once the labels stop using that promo format for their new album/songs you start to notice the artist struggling to reach those charts again. They still do this today but only difference is everything went to streaming services so now labels go thru different loops and usually only look for aspiring artists that already have a big following to influence the masses. Main reason why alot of young artists get signed and released within a couple years after their "services aren't needed anymore" and sign the next kid that sounds the same. The Cycle Continues.
