Yes the Beatles weren't always the first!😀,this is off ,'Days of future passed!' the Moody's first album released in 1967!,the album is a concept album running through the days of the week!,finishes with the classic 'Nights Ln white satin'.

To get the true experience I think it's best to experience the moody blues with music only since most of the world in the '60s '70s experience the Moody blues without visual aids or video.

The 60s brought on a musical Renaissance, a beautiful lovely music that made people happy and made them feel good. And made them love one another. Well, the evil ones couldn't allow that to stay because they are getting in the end of their time on this world so start in the 90s mostly from the mid to late 90s. I started changing music. And only allowed certain types of music which help them separate people from one another and help them Stir up anger against 1 another, which didn't exist in the 60 70s. In most of the eighties , those were the decades of love and the music of love period

Here's the my opinion about older/classic music. One or more people would write music, choose what notes, riffs, melodies. Where and when each instrument fits into the song, the arrangement. Each artist/band put their soul into each song. Lyrics are written. Sometimes the lyrics come first like in Elton John and Bernie Taupins music. Sometimes it the music first. Imagine creating music that's never been heard before, techniques, melodies, originals. Lyrics that mean nothing and are just fun to lyrics that try to change the world. Much of music today is computerized, only a beat that repeats, no soul, no true musicians that feel every note. Yes, some write and create lyrics from the heart and have meaning but those are getting fewer and far between. Vocals weren't always "american idol" worthy, but each made you feel. Not all artists were amazing singers but their songs touch you. For me the late 60s and 70s had such a diverse amount of genre's and artist but sadly corporate american chose to make much of music today all about money and hits. Back then you'd buy albums and listen to the entire thing, many were recorded in a story telling order. I have been passionate about music my whole life and to see the younger generations discovering my generations music makes me hopeful and happy. Hopeful that new artists see the value in live music and musicianship, background vocalists, artists and stop using computers and auto tune and just enjoy the art of creating music with others. That's just my truth. Keep on discovering all music but also appreciate the talent.

What happened to music? So much of it got its *soul* processed out if it. If you like this, check out The Hollies' tunes from about the same era. "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" is an inspiring one, and "Carrie Anne" and "Look Through Any Window" are catchy and fun. Another real *fun* record from the same year (1967) is The Who Sell Out, which was sort of a parody/tribute to British "pirate radio" which broadcast music the commercial stations wouldn't touch from ships with transmitters in the English Channel, with an eclectic mix of witty, driving, and beautiful tunes.

Nice. I would follow this up with Dawn is a Feeling. Liked your comments about this music being ‘pure’ vs today’s music. You’re right about that but what those 60s and 70s artists did have was the creative wizards in the studio. George Martin for The Beatles comes to mind.

Love this song. It's Justin's first single. Heard him launch it and perform it for the first time in Borders bookstore, Ft. Lauderdale, a few years back. It's played constantly in the UK or was at the time. Justin is the powerhouse behind the group. He is a true musician and song writer. The others are good too, Graham Edge, John Locke and Ray.

I think the guitar solo the person is referring to might be the one on 'I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band'. So many wonderful songs to check out: Question; New Horizons; Forever Autumn; The Actor; The story in your eyes; Driftwood. Might be easier to start with Days of Future Passed and work through all the albums!

Perhaps you’d like to hear something by The Moody Blues a bit more up-tempo, even rock ‘n’ roll. Check out their song “The Story in Your Eyes.“ Or “Ride My See Saw.“ Or even “Question,” which has some pretty radical tempo and intensity changes in it. All are exceptional songs.

I saw an interview with Justin Hayward a number of years ago in which he explained this song. He said it came about when he was hanging around on a Tuesday afternoon as he laid down in some grass and smoked a joint. It sounds like it ought to have a much deeper meaning than that, but this is what he said about the song's origin.

great reaction! this song is part of one of the very first concept albums of which the Moodies did 7 in a row. to fully understand and appreciate this song, the album should be done end to end because it tells a story. Remember, groups like the Moodies who are the grandfathers of progressive rock sold millions upon millions of vinyl records off of store shelves long before there was a thing called the internet. how many groups today can do that?

Yup, this was an era in which people felt encouraged to seek out nature in almost a mystical way, to get out of what they called the "rat race," and to find peace and contentment. This album came out in 1967, about five years before John Denver started to have his music about nature top the charts. In between, a lot of songs referenced nature in a positive way, and "getting back to nature" and being "more natural" was a part of the general youth / hippy / peace / spirituality movement.

REALLY the Moody Blues this is MY music (the old is my age not how long I've been a ONCE). I'm going to tell you a little secret you know WHY I stan Twice because unlike most reactors I don't hear the 80's or 90's or early 2000's in Twice music I hear THIS music they bring me home. To the other old farts here give Twice a chance and DON'T listen to the M/V listen to a B-side , that's what kids these day's call all the songs that aren't the Title track, kids right. Go with an open mind and appreciate the homage they pay to our music and yes there are NINE of them get over it enjoy the harmony and variety you will hear. Having said that their newest M/V is actually totally a western song it's called "I Got You" (no, no babe but a very little touch of yellow submarine lol). Remember when I told you slap vs whisper these guys whisper. Early Beatles and another stupid love song they whisper. Nice reaction guess I'll have more than Twice to listen too lol. OT9 forever (go watch Twice you'll understand).
