WHAT HAPPENED TO MY LV POCHETTE METIS AND WHY I WON’T GET ANOTHER ONE!!

I've always loved this bag but I stay away from any bag that has a lot of glazing! I purchased the metis hobo style bag back in 2013 and over the years the glazing started to melt and become tacky to the point where anything that got on it stuck to it. I got a random call from louis vuitton in the summer of 2019! I thought I was being scammed because I've never heard of them calling especially since I only buy at most once a year! I called back and they informed me that 99% of the metis bags that were sold have been deemed defective! They told me I could bring the bag in and exchange it for anything up to $2,000. I ended up purchasing the speedy 30 bandolier, monogram cosmetic case, and the damier ebene key cles! I was astonished at their customer service.

I heard about the problems with the Metis Hobo - such a shame because that too was a beautiful bag. I must say though, LV contacting you is brilliant!!! So good to hear!! Someone once told me they carried their epi neverfull into the store and the SA told her that particular bag had been deemed defective and she was welcome to bring it back for an exchange - she had been using it for several years and thought it was lovely that they approached her. Great customer service does pay off as it will keep people going back.

I hv PM since 2019 and have problem with the clasp since i bought it in London. The SA told me that i have to put things in the bag and the clasp will be easy to close/open it. Coming back to my home country, it still happened but still i used it until i can’t stand it and brought to my local boutique and the offer to change the clasp. After waited for 3 months i get back the bag and the clasp works wonderful and happily used it for a while. And then i noticed that my bag missed some thread (when they change the clasp). Again i brought back the bag to the boutique, they admit it and offer me a credit store because there is no new PM available at the store at that moment. I opt to wait for it and keep using the defect PM until the contacted me few months later. So now i have the new PM for months now, hopefully i can enjoy it for years.

Ahhh now I want to go and check my pochette metis! This happened to a Vivienne bag I had in the tri colour, I loved it so much! The glazing melted on it and LV exchanged it without issue. Can’t wait to see what stickers you pick! 💕

The same just happened to my pochette Métis, I just dropped off my bag this weekend for it to be assessed (let’s see if they deem it defective) I was deeply saddened to see the canvas cracked at the stitching. I take very good care of ALL my handbags this one is by far one of my favorite lv bags, I don’t know if I can part with it. I’m considering getting it in the empreinte leather but I love the canvas. As an update I did just purchase the PM in reverse. It’s made in Italy and seems really good so far but your video definitely never left me and I continue to wonder if I’ll run into any issues or should I have gotten Empreinte leather. Did you consider the Empreinte version? Do you think you’d have had the same issues? Fingers crossed that if I do end up with problems that LV is good to work with.

Let me know how you travel with your Pochette Metis! Just enjoy it and if a problem arises at least LV are very good at dealing with defects. The Empreinte leather Pochette Metis is also very beautiful, and from all accounts, holds up well over time. So the Empreinte leather can be your back up plan if things go south for your canvas 😉

If was me I don’t buy her, ask your self are you gonna spend 2200 in a car is gonna brake in a couple months or 2 years? I don’t think I will do it, I am about to get it I have it in the past the PM with the braided handle 2020 summer collection same started cracking same spot on the flap I send the bag for a re glazing they mess up my bag so my SA told me you should return the bag pick something else or we refund the money he said this happens in most all the PM because there are 2 different pieces glazing together is obviously they gonna crack in some point. I decide to refund the money and don’t get another PM

Glad to hear LV had no issue in letting you pick a completely different style. And that they gave you credit at the current price. I just bought my first LV two weeks ago and chose Pochette Métis. The SA told me all the glazing and cracking issues have been fixed and I won’t have any problems but should I believe her? Thinking I should return it and pick another bag... makes me sad because I love this bag.

Ladies I am worried about the same thing. I JUST placed my order online for the reverse monogram pochette metis. Do you think I should make sure to get one made in France or does that not matter with this glazing issue? I researched the glazing issue heavily. I knew it happened all those years past but I thought we were past it and it would be fixed by now after their big recall and all that amazing effort for customer service. Have you had issues so far? Did I make a mistake buying this one? I don’t have a lot of money so this was a big buy for me. I hope I won’t get stuck with losing $2,000.

Mine was Made in France so I don’t think it makes a difference where it is made. Congratulations on purchasing your bag!! It really is a beautiful bag and if you experience any glazing issues you’ll always be able to go back to LV so don’t worry too much about that. Just enjoy your bag 🥰 x

I have a 10 year old canvas bag from LV, after about 5 years the canvas started cracking around the folds, I wasn’t well at the time so I wasn’t in the position to take it back in (& they’d already replaced the clasp on it 2 years previous). So I’ve basically retired that bag & will be replacing it with a Speedy B either 25 or 30 in the Damier Ebene (I’m over vachette too) sometime this year. I think cracking canvas is just an issue for any of their bags with tight folds, for this reason I will only buy leather bags after my speedy. TBH, I’m at the point where I’d rather a small collection of Dior & Hermes than a lager collection of LV. On that note, has anyone ever had any issues with the Empreinte Pochette Metis?

I don’t think there’s been any issues with the Pochette Metis in Empreinte leather... I really think canvas is just not the most suitable material for certain designs (like the Pochette Metis where the flap and gussets are opened and expanded often). Louis Vuitton seem to be focusing a lot more on their leather bags to move people away from canvas. Thank you so much for watching! ☺️❤️

Actually I have the empriente PM in black, same glazing issues. The leather won’t crack but there will still be glazing issues. It started happening after 2 years! Maybe after a few wears also. I rotate my bags often so it was still new when the glazing issues occurred.

It’s interesting to know, I don’t have anything in empreinte, but I have multiple epi bags & a wallet that are all 8 to 10 years old, I’ve never had any issues with the glazing on any of them (not even the handles). Maybe I’ll stick to epi from LV (it’s always been my favourite), I did want to try out something in empreinte, maybe I’ll just get an SLG to see how it wears instead of a bag.

@@yellowchicroad I completely agree, when you think of it the coated canvas was originally made to cover hard sided trunks, it also seems to work well for bags like the keep all, speedy & the soft sided luggage. So it kind of makes sense that it doesn’t translate well into designs with lots of folds or gussets. Oh well, at least it only took one bag for me to learn that lesson. Maybe I’m best sticking to my tried & tested structured epi bags (& a speedy).

How old is the bag? If it's several years old, there's nothing new here. I have heard the issues have since been resolved.

Omg girl I think about my PM all the time because one side of the glazing is cracking and it almost looks like the canvas in that area might crack too. I love metis but girl has got bills lol , a friend at my work place introduced slaybags to me and i googled ,saw good reviews about the quality of the bags so i purchased the damier azur mm from there and omg i love it , the quality is almost like the real and it came with card and receipt as well .
