Well the show had an extremely low budget so they couldn't even afford advertising and just sold it to multiple countries. The lack of advertising caused extremely low ratings causing it to be cancelled after just 2 seasons. The reason it's underrated is because rainbow released it while their finances weren't secure hence the lack of advertising

I wanted to check the AO3 stats, and I regret to inform you that Winx Club does actually have more fics. Regal Academy: 4 Winx Club: 927 Ever After High: 871 The basic AO3 search function is a bit messy when looking at results - I did some quick scrolling through just the search results for ‘Ever After High’ and somehow found BTS, Original Works, Kuroko no Basuke, Revue Starlight, Sword Art Online, My Hero Academia, Minecraft, Star Wars, among others. It’s always better to go to the fandom tag for a franchise rather than just looking at the basic search results.

The reason the graphic novels for this show and the Winx club are so well done is because graphic novels are very popular in Italy, so they pay more attention to them. Very much so seen in the Italian book series Geronimo Stilton.

Not gonna lie, I actually despised this show as a kid because I feel like the main character is absolutely ridiculous and I would rather watch Ever After High other than this. Not to mention, I feel like some of the plot is unoriginal and even kid me thinks that the characters are too boring and generic. The romance and ship are meh too. I'm older now and I don't think the show is as bad as I used to think but I'd still prefer Ever After High.

Oh I HIGHLY recommend looking into Twisted Wonderland, where characters inspired by Disney villains all go to school together!!! The Disney stories/films are essentially really old history/myths that have gotten fuzzy over time. I think it’d be fun to explore a more boys-centric look into this sort of “fairy tale magic school” sorta thing and your thoughts on it!

I remember my mom recorded it for me and told me about it because she thought it was something I'd like since I loved Ever After High so much. why does so much of this remind me of "The Land Of Stories" with the being related to Cinderella, going to a fairytales are real world, learning magic, the dad being shocked when he learns about it cause he wasn't in on it, the main character being in awe of everything when she first gets there, the villain being defeated with something based on iconic from one of their stories, the villain trying to destroy the main royal families and bringing back the snow queen The only difference is the land of stories had a twin brother, stakes, a deeper lore, and they focused more on like, the other fairy tale characters rather than their kids. Also the villains have actual reasoning to be villains rather than just being evil for evil reasons.

I never watched the show, but I remember how I took the basic concept and went ahead to come up with a story where the descendants of the villains had their own school that’s abusive and shit. And sometimes some of the students from this school “nightmare academy” would come to Regal Academy just to mess with the good guys. And on one occasion the granddaughter of Maleficent “Cattiveria” (badness in Italian) turns the blue haired guy into a hawk (cuz that’s his name) and takes him back to nightmare academy. And while he’s captured Hawk learns how nightmare academy is very strict and demanding and how Maleficent is pretty abusive towards Catti. And he and Catti kinda fall in love.

When I found this show I tried SO hard to love it because the concept was so cool. In the end it was the music that did me in. Can’t remember exactly what it was but like, it played EVERY time the audience was supposed to be hyped up or something

I'm incredibly confused because I can SWEAR I watched 4 seasons of Regal Academy. 4 seasons, not 2. Hawk had a long-lost sister, Rose and him seem to finally get together. There were quests they went on. Did I imagine this?

@@andantette Yeah I was obsessed with that show when it aired on CITV. Admittedly the animation could be... wonky... at times, but overall I really liked the show’s plot. Shame what happened to it.

I think Mysticons also struggled with an uncertain audience. My guess is it was aimed at 7-11 year old girls but might've been trying to go beyond that & didn't quiet succeed. I'm thinking also that Piper was intended as an audience surrogate but she was the one of the 4 main protagonists that we knew the least about, with very little being revealed about her history prior to when she moved to the undercity & met Zarya. There was plenty of scary drama even in the 1st/pilot ep with Arkayna's parents being turned to stone (which is the way they remained for most of series) so the dividing line for who might enjoy the series could fall between those who enjoy the drama of say Harry Potter (also fun but very dark & scary at times) & those who get nightmares from the scary parts of it.

Basically, there's this force called the Tradition, that takes stories people tell often and forces people in similar situations along those paths. But what if you're following the cinderella storyline but the prince is a young child? Or the man who is meant to face down the djinn has no interest in the kidnapped women?

I'm almost positive the Taco vs Burrito thing was because legal made them change it. Because there is a beloved kids book called "Dragons Love Tacos". Since the studio is a bit cheap, they just did a sloppy dub, because re-recording lines is both faster and cheaper than reanimation.

I'm surprised to see it wasn't mentioned in this video, but there was actually a bus in NYC that was decorated with regal academy all over it when it started coming to america! But it is true there wasn't tons of marketing, the dolls other than the italian dolls that were sold in the US i only ever found any dolls were in toys r us before it got killed off. I'm not really sure how the european fans really feel either since I don't speak their languages but italy had magazine releases and several other toy releases that never made it over seas, after season 2 happened it's just considered to be on a hiatus and most people speculate it's because RAI was working on winx club season 8, and now season 9 too. Very strange situation

My country (Montenegro) had no merchandise of the show. It aired here in the beginning of 2017 and it stopped around 2019. In neighboring Croatia, I found dolls in Müller tho, but those aren't sold anymore.
