Oh wow! I actually went to the same film school as him (Chapman University in Orange, CA). I never met him, because he graduated the year prior, but his film was shown in one of my first film classes.

This is the theory that I've been meaning to use for a while. Really proud of this one. The Villain Theory: There has always been something that's been nagging at me. Something that I haven't quite been able to fit into any theories or bring to the world. Maybe a couple of months ago, Mel announced a special project in a post and then a made a premiere a little bit later. I seem to remember back then, that the video was entitled something like: You Can't Win, Noris. ever since then a character named Noris has been at the back of my head. The premiere came and it turned out to be an audio drama. We got to meet the cast in a different video and find out a little more about the character's names. No character named Noris was mentioned. The 'You Can't Win' part obviously referred to the original song that was released with the same name. In the 'Meet the Cast', every character had a name, except one. One character was just labeled as anonymous. I believe that this character is Noris. This character is voiced by Madeleine Norton, so the Noris part will probably her last name. (Unless Noris can be a girl's name, which I doubt). The video showcased a number of different types of characters, such as students, professors, guardians and extras. But no Principal/Headmasters. I don't think that it would be too much of a stretch to suggest that the anonymous character is the Headmistress of Nightshade Academy? Finally, on top of all that, we can take a look at the song, linked with the character. It's creepy and eerie in all the right ways. In my theory I described it at as a battle-before-the-final-battle theme. Not something that you would hear when confronting a loving and caring principal. No, this is a villain theme. Headmistress Noris of Nightshade Academy and (a) Villain of the Book has joined the battle (maybe). *takes a breath* Wow, that was quite a bit. There you go, that's the theory.

As an actual friend of Mais (known by his last name in our friend group because there's another guy named Chris too), I was unaware of "Smile". I'd seen some of his grad work at UCLA but hadn't seen anything he'd done for undergrad. Guess I'll have to be a not terrible friend and watch it now.
