U see the problem is that an artist in the mainstream especially back in those days were measured way too much according to record sales and charts that don't really matter regardless of record sales artist should keep it moving and do shows and sale merchandise , and collect performance royalties weather they get drop or stay on the label ... most artist back then just rely too on the label with out knowing that labels are sharks

@lynnaegink3 жыл бұрын
@@THEATTKID I believe they were the ones that left Uptown. Maybe Heavy was hurt by them leaving?How you gonna leave one company for another, because you thought the grass was greener at the new company, and when it's not, and everything goes to shit, you point fingers at the first company. I don't blame Heavy for allegedly ignoring them afterwards. If I put you on, and mentor you, and help you become a major grp, with a hit record, but then later you leave because you think you can do it with out me, or you think you know more than me, then I owe you nothing, and don't have to fuck with you no more. They made a grown up decision to leave the man and the company that made them. So they need to stop bad talking about Heavy, who is deceased, and can't respond.

I really hate what happened to them. I have a story to tell. Me and my brother and two cousins went to New York seeking a record deal. We won four times on the Apollo. Heavy d, got in contact with our manager to come to his house in Mt. Vernon to audition for him. So we did he loved us. He signed us on the spot. We were very good singers. But didn't know anything about the business. That was November 1992. He told us after the new year rolls in he's going to fly us back to New York. To take us to uptown records. But God saw different. Now I understand why everything went down the way it did. And by the way we're from the Queen City N.c. and we were inspired by jodeci. I actually grew up with KC and JoJo. My mom are good friends with there aunt and Mom. But I wish much blessings to so for real 🙏🏾💪🏿

*(**2:04**) Record business shyster move 101.* When a young group/artist comes to a record company the company likes to "change there name". They say it's because they want something more "cooler or hip". But what the record company really want is to OWN THE GROUPS NAME AND TO CONTROL ALL RESIDUALS FROM THAT NAME. (3:25) notice how they (probably Soul IV Real idea) changed the "for" to "IV" on the HEAT album.
