I think you forgot to mention that Eurizione scored the game winner against the soviets, and Buzz Schneider was portrayed by his son when Disney made their movie about the team.

Bob Suter was Ryan's (DAL) dad. All throughout Ryan's career in NSH, MIN, and DAL, he wore his dad's number 20.

Don't forget Bob's brother Gary, Ryan's uncle who played like 20 seasons in the NHL. He wore 20 as well.

Valeri Kharlamov died in a car accident in 1981. The Olympic careers of Boris Mikhailov and Vladimir Petrov ended in 1980. Vladislav Tretiak retired in 1984. Viacheslav Fetisov won two more gold medals, was drafted by the New Jersey Devils, and won a Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings. Alexei Kasatonov and Sergei Starikov also had brief stints with the Devils. Sergei Makarov played six seasons in the NHL with the Calgary Flames, San Jose Sharks, and Dallas Stars. Most of the Soviet players that ended up in the NHL were on the gold medal-winning teams in 1984 and 1988.

Soviet Russian league goal scoring leaders were in 1980 Shalimov 34 goals Drotzdetzky 31 Varnakov 30 Priodin 27 Lavrentjev 27 Only good Russian was in 1980 olympics Makarov 29 goals! USA have 500000 hockey players! Canada have 650000 hockey players! Ovechkin's Russia have only 80000 hockey players! Canada and USA should have 15 guys who have scored over 800 goals like Ovechkin today!, Lake placid 1980 had good players like Jari Kurri Peter Stastny Glenn Anderson Neal Broten! NHL points leaders in early 1980s after Lake placid were Gretzky Kurri Stastny Anderson Broten!! Miracle on ice or Wayne Gretzky did not made hockey popular In the USA because Stanley Cup tv rating 4% Nielsen rating in 1980 and Same story in 1997 Stanley Cup had 4% Nielsen tv rating in 1997!!

They sucked most overrated hockey moment ever ..... only reason people even praise it so much is because they hate Russians and its ok to be a bigot to Russians in America but nobody esle idk why it's not a hate crime if there Russian but if there Chinese... nigerian ... Indian.... or Swedish..... it's a problem ...

@NBCeeUs! why is a amateur tourment some huge moment for America when it's not even in the top 3 team sports for America.. for the few Americans who like hockey maybe its a big deal ... but not the rest of the world or the majority of America ... it wouldn't be considered as big of a moment if it wasn't for the hate towards Russia.. or can u explain why beating canada for gold wasn't as good as moment when canadians are clearly superior at hockey then anybody out there ... the ussr only won in the Olympics in the early days because it was a amateur on amateur tourment and the best soviets got to play ...nhl players didn't which honestly favored every country in the world not named canada... as every country was deeper at the amateur level then nhl level in comparison to canada ...if they aloud nhl players the gap would've been much bigger between canada and every one esle ...
