I appreciate how respectful you are of every player in these videos. Virtually every other KZbinr is rude to the “busts” and role players. Like you insinuated with Nikoloz Tskitishvili, being drafted into a different situation could have made a world of difference.

a lot of people dont want to recognize the greatness of yao ming and like to talk about his height only, most of those people wouldn't know shawn bradley from the same era and was even taller than yao. and dont forgot, yao ming shoots the foul shot for houston, he was an incredible shooter. if he plays in the modern era he would be shooting the three and dont suffer injuries as much due to the softer less physical game. he had to go back to china to play for the national team for the olympics, asian games and other international competitions also, so this 100% added to his injuries.
@jackdempsey2497 Жыл бұрын
That is true.. yao was the only asian player (so far) who i personally think was a problem. Like the footwork, movement, etc. he was calculative. Not reckless. Smooth jumpshot, Over %80 fts, mf was dunking on premiere centers. Every time he dunks on some1 i yell “y’all gon’ learn Chinese” 😂😂

it’s crazy how this is considered one of the weaker drafts in history and it still produced almost 5 times as many all-star selections (14) in the top 10 as the 2000 draft (3) had in total

Honestly, one of my favorite players of all time is NeNe Hilario, I'm glad somebody finally talked about him... such an underrated player with physical offense and his rough, hard-working interior defense... It's also crazy that he beat Cancer and continued to play far after that! Such a under-rated player

Man I'm a diehard Celtic fan first and foremost, but my little brother had a weird obsession with Yao, so I followed his career a little closer than the average non-houston or non-Chinese fan and in my opinion, him and TMac always being injured at different times and never getting really a full healthy season in the league together remains an under-discussed what if. Injuries truly are a bitch and a half. I wish we could've seen a fully healthy Yao and TMac in their prime just as a pure basketball fan. Houston might've had an extra banner or two in their stadium if the injury bug didn't exist.

YAO was underrated .. for me personally .. i think YAO was one of the most dominant players to ever play the game .. hes difficult to stop, he cant shoot, he can pass, hes suprisingly agile for his size, and his IQ is also impressive .. i didnt mention his bread & butter, low post !! thats a no brainer ..

Yao is a huge 'what if' but I still couldn't give much credit to his all star selections. No doubt he deserved some, he still wasn't worthy of them all. 2010/2011 is the best example of that. He literally only played 5 games this whole season and not only was he voted a all star, he was voted a starter. His rookie season is another example. He indeed had a solid rookie season but to the point of being voted a All Star starter over Shaq who had just won 3 straight rings and finals MVP still averaging about twice Yao's numbers? Hell nah! Those selections were flued by the massive support he got from Chinese fans who would vote him anytime no matter what and since All Stars were voted by fans only back then it turned him into a all star starter lock every year even when he wasn't deserving of it.
@vbeard5887 Жыл бұрын
Tskitishvili was just too early in every sense. He grew 6 inches from declaring the draft to draft night. He should have played 2 more years in Europe. Came over the class after Melo, maybe not be a top 5 pick. His style was perfect for todays game that favors the outside shot. Just played in the wrong time. Not everyone pans out though.

You gotta admit the overall quality of 2002 nba draft was quite bad, even including Yao Ming, who only played 7 seasons and made less than 10000 points in his all career (quite high by season), that is the only superstar level player in that year, and there is no need to talk about others get drafted in 2002
