Thankfully, after two bad prequel films, Alien would find its footing again with Romulus. As for Predator, it has two good sequels in Predators and Prey, and just one bad entry in The Predator. Not bad for a Phallic-shaped Invader and Honour-bound game hunter from space!

megabakugan00 ...I don't even know what are you talking about. Look, before the events in the Nostromo crew, NOBODY knew what the xenomorphs are. The writers of "Alien" and "Aliens" didn't had the AVP movies in mind when they wrote the scripts for the original films. ...I mean... Are you basically saying that the OLD films should now follow the stuff that is established by NEW movies?!? I'm sorry, but it doesn't work like that, buddy. It's as if I make a prequel to "Dirty Harry" and showing that he and Scorpio are actually in love and care for each other and have an adoptive son, and then watch the original film and go "Hey, why do Harry and Scorpio hate each other? Shouldn't they be in love just like how the new prequel has shown? And where is their son?" The AVP movies have fucked up the continuity by establishing stuff that doesn't fit with the stuff established by the old movies. Now that you hopefully got that in mind, the Nostromo was NOT going to find the xenomorphs (AGAIN, nobody knew them yet in the original films), the Nostromo was returning from a commercial trip and it was an ACCIDENT that they arrived on LV-426 and brought the alien aboard. They stumbled upon the signal coming from the Space Jockey's crashed ship on LV-426. Assuming it was a distress signal, they decided to go check out the source and possibly save those who activated the beacon. The reason why they did that was because of a clause in their contracts which imposes them to investigate any systematic transmission indicating an intelligent origin. They say this while they're having breakfast, now I'm the one wondering if YOU saw the film and paid attention. While they were exploring the inside of the Space Jockey's wreckage, Ripley and Mother found out that the transmission was actually some kind of warning signal rather than an S.O.S. they they assumed at first, but when that discovery happened, Kane was already getting down into the eggs pit, it was too late to tell them to get out. "why doesn't Ripley shoot at the alien with the flamethrower?" ...Again, do I need to spell it out every single thing you SEE in the movie? First, Ripley activated the self destruction process, but then when she was heading to the escape shuttle, the alien appeared in the entrance, blocking her way in. Instead of setting him and the entrance on fire with the flamethrower (thus making her way to the shuttle even MORE difficult) or just sitting on her ass doing nothing until the ship exploded killing both her and the alien, Ripley returned to the console and tried to set off the self-destruction, but it was too late to stop the process. She then took the desperate choice of going and fight the alien at any cost, but she couldn't fire at him with the flamethrower... BECAUSE THE FUCKING ALIEN WASN'T THERE ANYMORE. She assumed that the alien just walked away and so she got in the shuttle and escaped from the Nostromo's explosion. The alien fell asleep in the escape shuttle because he just slaughtered Lambert and Parker (the scaredy woman and the black dude) and was digesting them. Sure, it briefly woke up when Ripley found him and ran away into the closet, but the alien didn't attack her because... Really, what's the rush of killing her? The alien probably thought: "Whoops, I guess she blew my cover... Oh well, I'll eat her later after I'm done digesting these two guys, after all I can kill her whenever I want, she's stucked in this little ship with me, she has nowhere to escape, she's all mine..."

What is even stupider on the scene of the pizza boy killing the alien with a handgun, is the fact that it´s a simple 9mm... Remember that scene from "Aliens", when Gorman and Vasquez are trapped on the air conduct? Gorman shoots a handgun against an alien and the damn thing bounces around the skull! It takes like the whole clip to kill the damn thing! Here that boy shoots 3 or 4 times and the alien is bye bye. It´s ridiculous.

An R rated AVP movie was the way to go from the start...but this one did it all wrong. The characters are incredibly flat and uninteresting, the inexperience of the directors shows in a big way, and AVPR is just, overall, incredibly mean spirited. I don't usually get offended by death scenes in this kind of a film, but what happens to the pregnant lady and the father and son out hunting is just plain tasteless, and done purely for shock value. I watched this movie once, and that was enough.

It did have one redeeming feature however, the Wolf Predator as a design is as faithful and amazing as we have seen since P2. He looks bad ass and he gets the job done as you'd expect. The reason they only sent the one imo is that is his job and he's good at it, he's actually an elder predator and he cleans up the mess, hence the name wolf, a nod to pulp fiction. That design deserved a much better movie and it's a shame he was wasted as he was in this forgettable Z movie...

You may be right, I like Aliens, but I'd actually say the Alien design hasn't been right since the original big chap. I mean where did that guy go? nobody ever used him again despite his incredible menacing look with the visible skull and eye sockets through the translucent dome. He was also much bigger than the warriors. Maybe in a future Prometheus we'll see him again if we're very lucky.

Defense of The Wolf Predator: He never tried to save humanity from Xenomorphs, he's trying to cover up their existence. Plus the Yautja technology. (Don't include the plasma caster, he was unable to retrieve it since he was fighting the Predalien.) And even if he did care why would he try and kill them every chance he got. Clearly this makes him an anti-hero -.- And I'm quite sure that the crashed Predator tried to blow himself up. Its just the Predalien killed him before he was able to finish entering the code. Predators are highly advanced in technological feats, advancing several million years more than us. I'm quite sure that they'd think that something like that would happen so my guess is thats why since the Predator failed to blow up the ship, his wrist gauntlet would have automatically sent out a distress signal. Predators aren't stupid you know. Plus what's wrong with Wolf anyway? You don't like Badass? Defense of Aliens: What's wrong with rubber suits? I grew up on that shit. Yes, the Aliens were portrayed as pussies but Wolf Predator was an Elite. He's been a hunting for about 500 - 1000 years. And both the first Alien movies had confined spaces. Out in the open, they can't really do jack shit or hide. (With the exception of bushes) Defense of the Predalien: ... You just shat on one of my favorite monsters. Congratulations. First off, no one really knew what Predaliens were like. I gave them a plus on creativity for trying to make something new. Defense of the Humans: ... Ok, there is nothing I can save here. Kill em. It's a slasher flick. You watch it to see people be killed by monsters. And it killed kids too. Thats a plus for me. Your not supposed to be scared. Your supposed to watch gore and fighting. And thats what I wanted, and thats what I got.

Eh, that's different. It's based off a popular comic book series where a bunch of villains are forced by the government to do off the book stuff, and if they refuse they will explode their heads with the bombs in their brains. The predator in this film is portrayed as heroic, the squad are still portrayed as scumbags. Besides Deadshot, and that's still quite faithful, since he's a hired assassin for money for his family. Something like that at least, I don't really remember much :p

There are 2 reasons as to why this movie had the "Requiem" subtitle: 1. They wanted to abbreviate that title, so that it would sucker in fans who wanted an R rated AVP movie. 2. A Requiem is a song that is meant to represent a recent death, which is perfect for a film that almost killed the Alien/Predator series.

It seemed the directors or writers tried their best to make the Predator look as strong & badass compared to the weaker & lamer Preds of the '04 movie. Here's the way I would have done it predators kidnap humans put them in an arena and make the humans fight so this one human who was so strong he won every match so the predators decided to send him back to earth but back on earth the whole human race is under ground because many years after alien resirection few facehuggers survived the crash while a queen facehugger got on a man the facehuggers got on anything including animals and started a war with the humans first the humans were winning until the animals attacked So when the predator ship arrived They have one mission Kill the queen

The way to fix this AVP series, IF there is any way to fix it... is to restart again by setting the first movie in the future just around the time after the alien films are dated in time. And to keep the Predators as the evil hunting monsters they are meant to be; killing aliens as well as humans throughout the entire film, and for the setting of the movie to be in a distant planet light-years away from Earth, in a Big spaceship, or space station just like the previous alien films did. And instead of making cheesy fights, trying to cause an MMA fight scene, to focus more on the horror and suspense rather than in the action of the film, and to have good acting! and some great animatronics, and special effects just like they did in the film "Aliens(1986)" and some great suits just like in the film "Predator(1987)". And to make the films R-rated. But that's only with a Big "IF" there is a way to fix it... I realize many of you who will read this may have mixed negative feelings about this... Feel free to leave your opinions on why this is a terrible idea... let it all out of your systems...

I saw this in the theater and agree it was not great, but I later found out, much like Alien 3, this film had a lot of meddling from producers and the studio as well as being on a super small budget. Most of the actors were actual local theater actors. The Predalien design was dictated by executives after they got input from one 13 year old boy claiming he was the target audience. (The film was rated R so the kid could not have bought a ticket.) It was filled with fan service. As for your complaints on the Predator, he was the clans highest elder and was trying to hide the disgrace of his clan making a Predalien (An Abomination in their culture). As for the aliens, they were simple making a hive. I just found your channel and I am loving it! Keep up the good work! :)

Why the predator remove his mask: because (like in predator movie) it has a good adversary. By honor, the predator remove his mask for his opponent see his face. I looked up the actor who played the pizza boy in this movie on IMDB and was shocked to learn about the circumstances of his death. From what I read it seems very tragic because he was apparently a very talented artist and a kind and cultured individual. I'm not sure if you still check the comments on these 6 year old videos but if you happen to read this look him up, he seems very interesting. That being said this movie and every performance in it is still trash.

Mostly when it comes to the Predator Wolf. Wolf isn't like Scar and his band from AVP. He is an elite hunter, and as such is far more skilled in hunting Xenos than his brethren. He takes off his gear because he recognizes the Predalien as a worthy challenge in single combat, hearkening back to the honor of their species. I already stated your hatred toward the Predator Human team up is based on personal bias, while the books and comics have done this very act numerous times. Common enemy is the alien, therefore the predator and humans team up to survive.

I hate to admit it but both AVP's are guilty pleasures for me. I know they're terrible, but to some degree I still enjoy them. If FOX or whoever owns their titles makes them non cannon I'm perfectly ok with that and will just enjoy them for their stupidity.

I was 13 in 1990 and I was absolutely enthralled by the AVP concept. As soon as I saw what Darkhorse had created I my imagination went wild with what the possibilities of this story could represent. I collected the first four comic books and read their novelization. 14 years later I get Anderson's pithy excuse of a movie. I went "WTF?!" the setting was EARTH? He had the entire galaxy to choose from for a setting and he chose our planet as the setting for TWO extraterrestrials. So I was all set for the follow up to clean up the mess that was the first AVP and I received quite honestly one of the most poignant, and upsetting regrets of my life. The brothers strauss and whoever okay'ed this abomination of a film didn't have to go through channels and didn't give a piss to what any of the fans may have thought about what they had done to this series. They put the titular characters into a blender, pureed them, poured it down the drain, recovered that mess from the sewers, put that in a coffin, shat on that, then drove the nails into the franchise. Whatever potential this franchise had to become a great film has now gone the fucking way of the dinosaurs no thanks to those two assholes.

All together now: Why do the characters stop for guns at a gun store instead of getting out of town? Why do the elders send only one Predator to clean up the mess? Why does the government think dropping a nuke on the town when several of the national guard are still inside a good idea? Why does the Predator take off its gear when it's fighting the Predalien? Why does the Predalien just STAND THERE when the Predator takes off its gear? Why does the military cover up this event? Why do the filmmakers think we care about this whiny pizza boy? well wolf the name of the one predator was more of a well more train hunter with better gear,weapons, and better skills in the comics we have had different ranks from predators from young teens who must go on a right of passage where as the predators from predator 2, avpr, and predators or more like master or teachers, wolf was more of super predator the one time predators would be in groups are for games or for new born teens. Where as something like this they would need more train hunters who face worst stuff, plus wolf was not really trying to save the humans his mission was to make sure. That no one would find out about the aliens or the predators tech as you see in the ending wolf fails his mission.

i ways hyped for this movie and disapointed after watching it, why do they always give movie to someone who have less brains, less originality and less faith than actual fans, i would have wanted to see some futuristic large city getting overrun by aliens and group of predators literally goes for war / hunt against aliens and poor bastards are watching from a side and trying to survive, they couldve made better movie based on plot from Snes game Alien vs Predator.

I remember being excited to see AVP2 when it was being described. Even the creators said they hated the first one and wanted to make a mature film. How bloody wrong I was to get excited for it. There are so many great graphic novels that they could have used as an adaptation!

My co- workers at the time were die hard AVP fans and they called this movie a " Horror / Comedy." Because this movie really was a Laughing Stock of a film. A great review that pritty much sums up my feelings for this cinematic atrocity. What in God's name made them think that Dawson's Creek meets Alien and Predator would make a good film. Also it was a stupid idea making the Predator's cannon to the Alien films, Aliens vs Predator is (and should be treated as) it's own seperate and self contained univers, AVP was more of a 'What if' and it worked. Let's just hope they don't deside to adapted Aliens Vs Predator Vs the Terminator, if that happens god help us all.
