Killing Hicks and Newt made perfect sense in the Vincent Ward story. It was the way they tried to ram the prison planet into a story of space monks that screwed that film up. If you watch the film their deaths are very well handled. Ripley is clearly distressed by their passing and even the prisoners treat their bodies with respect. Almost like they were meant to be space monks.

I love how everyone complained about AVP 3 and about 3 years later we got this. It was like "Oh, You think that's bad? YOU THINK THAT'S BAD!!? WELL WE'LL GIVE YOU BAD ALRIGHT!". I for one loved AVP 3 (I own it on both Xbox and PC) and as soon as this one was released, all of my friends went crying back to AVP 3. Flawless review by the way.

Something about Colonial Marines that I get hung up on is that its existence was supposed to improve Alien 3, something the developers were being vague about, and something I was really hoping for. That never happened. I, however, came up with a way to do that in less than ten minutes of brainstorming. Wey-Yu sent Ripley to the prison colony with the facehugger egg so that the colony, full of people that nobody would ever miss, would turn into a habitat for a few dozen xenomorphs, for which Wey-Yu could use for whatever purposes they wished to. Explains the egg, doesn't insult the entire fanbase within the game by handwaving the occurance, and its a move that Wey-Yu definitely would've done. Now to explain the Hicks body, well, Wey-Yu wanted the information from the last remaining military personnel. They knew that Ripley, well aware of the capability of the xenomorphs and having sabotaged Wey-Yu's plans before, would've known something was up if she landed on the prison colony without Hicks, so to keep her without suspicion, they just dumped a mangled corpse that nobody could possibly identify into the statis pod, which would be somewhat consistent with a fire and a crash. None of that is even to overhaul the main plot of the game itself. Its a bit cliche, and it bears heavily on the Wey-Yu, but it would've worked. All of that could've been incorporated into audio logs and a short conversation with Hicks without changing *anything* about the game, especially when they used the "we're fixing Alien 3 canon" line to help sell the game. It boggles my mind that they skipped over so important to the canon that could've been fixed quite easily without even compromising their shit writing. I came up with that on a whim, and if Gearbox hadn't spent all their A:CM development money on Borderlands, maybe they could've afforded to implement one of the most--used and cheapest corner-cutting methods of adding story details in gaming. Also, I really like the popsicle sticks. Its almost like you're afraid of even physically touching the game, and I don't blame you. I go suckered into that Collector's Edition too, and only backed out when a few days prior to release, it was leaked that the game was utter shite. Cancelled that in an instant and decided to buy XCOM instead - thats how you treat a franchise with respect. Lastly, Spec Ops: The Line references! *fangirl squee*

Well Jimmy it seems The Creative Assembly took that idea of a horror based First-Person Shooter Alien game to heart. Alien: Isolation is coming this October and from the gameplay I've seen it looks like it will most definitely keep true to the Alien series and tone. The story seems pretty okay and very interesting and honestly I'm looking forward to it. I'm wondering if you will consider reviewing the game since it does take place in the Alien universe, fifteen years after Alien to be specific, with Ripley's daughter, Amanda, as the main character.

I can agree with all your other reviews and how this contradicts the plotline, but I cannot say this game is bad; I had SO much fun playing it, and so have my friends on Xbox Live. I spent hours and hours getting collectibles, playing as both a xenomorph and a human on multiplayer which is extremely enjoyable, and not to mention I genuinely appreciate the change if gameplay. I actually didn't think the humans were there to long in the Campaign. Not to mention, I loved the graphics (of course I do not have the PlayStation graphics. 😝). Regardless, I rarely had glitches if I did in fact experience any glitches. All my friends recommended the game to their friends. I loved the secret room in one of the levels where it literally has an Easter egg. It is an Alien egg with paint on it. Aside fron the plotholes, this is a extraordinary game with outstanding gameay in my opinion. I love playing the multiplayer game modes, even if it takes up to 10 minutes to find enough players for the game to be able to start. I love escape, TD, Survival, and Eggsterminator. I think if you spent an hour or so on this game, you'd fall in love with the game. If you don't lime it, clearly it isn't your kind of game, so don't hate. My fingers hurt from typing, but I don't think I have an typos. Anyways, I don't think the game is too long or too short. Not to mention, I love replaying the Campaign levels with my friends and fighting the hoards again and again. If let someone else decide what's good for you, then you'll miss out on a lot of spectacular opportunities in life. Again, I agree with all of Jimmy's other reviews, but this one I do not agree with him. At least try the game, you never know if you'll like something unless you try it. If you don't like it, sell it on Ebay for more than you paid for it! 😄. Holy cow! That took 30 minutes! Dinner time.

I loved Hicks, but I never had that much of a problem with Ripley being left alone again. It fits the tone of the series (full disclosure; I am and always have been a huge Alien3 mark).

Review the AVP games that was on Ps3 and Xbox360. I actually really enjoyed the gameplay. The story is simple enough and the graphics are a million times better than Colonial marines. It's a shame that not a lot of people ever got the game because its well deserving of at least one run through. As a fan of both aliens and predators that game satisfied my fanboy side immensely. Would really love to see if you liked it at all Jimmy since I'm in the vast minority.

You'll be happy to know that the next alien based game developed by sega : Alien isolation is a survival horror, directly linked to the first film, where you are on a different ship and the flight recorder of the nostromo has been recovered and you play in first person as ripleys ( adult ) daughter and on the ship you are on there is already and alien aboard, in the game many new techniques of survival are done to have you try to track and avoid the alien, it is programmed to hunt you by sight and sound and any activity that you do, the alien cannot be killed and you must find other uses for weapons and tools that are found

First things first, DON'T get me wrong - I wasn't happy with the game (I'm an Alien fan to the core, and what we got after all the promises was something that shocked everyone who was hyped over the game) but some these bits aren't right. The vapor cloud being the size of Nebraska was just something Bishop said to emphasize that they had to leave as they only had 19 minutes left until the atmosphere processor would blow up - Bishop stated in earlier in the movie that the blast radius would be 30 kilometers, equal to about 40 megatons. The Aliens: Colonial Marines Technical Manual establishes that the Derelict was far enough away for it not to be effected by the blast, being located behind the planet's mountain range known as the Ilyium range, and it is from the Derelict where Weyland-Yutani got the eggs from - Aliens: Colonial Marines Technical Manual was written already in 1995. Also, it was never stated in Alien 3 that Ripley had the last alien queen inside of her; it was only in Alien: Resurrection where the aliens were stated as being extinct in part due to Ripley's efforts (they couldn't even get Fury 161's name right in that movie - it was called "Fiori 16").

The main reason Spec Ops flopped and ACM sold well was because everyone got tricked by that E3 2011 demo and rushed to pre-order the game I'm all for games having better stories and the one in Spec Ops was great, but when I tried the game, the TPS gameplay really underwhelmed me. With shooters these days, I want to see them branch out and provide a hook to both gameplay and story.
