Great review! I still think we should look into other media as you covered two Alien games. Games, books and comics for example. The Alien Predator series is enormous. Also I love the idea that the director of Romulus what’s to join with the director of Prey to make a superb Aliens vs Predator movie using what they did with their successful entries in the series

Johns role as a leader of resistance was pretty much prophesized chosen one, a mythic hero who saved the world. Despite scifi setting, he was very much like a hero from ancient legends. And then they made salvation. You lose lot of that world building when you show how ordinary dude this legend is. Ordinary commander in ordinary war film that happens to have robots in it. This isn't the future that earlier films set up. Cool looking but retconning and demythologizing film. Bad idea from the start. Cameron may be only one who gets what terminator is about 🙄

Original two terminators were interesting twist on chosen one trope, because pov character is mother of the chosen one. Sarah was clear main character that tied films together. Thats why third film doesn't work. It is not following the main character any more. Third film missed story and themes of the original films but replicated somewhat accurate representation of the surface level. Missing the point is biggest sin a sequel can do. Bad film. Great action rings hollow without meaningful story.

Haven't even watched it yet, but I'm SO glad you're still making these videos. You got me through some really bad times back in the day with this series of videos, thank you so much for being here.

Honestly, I don't blame W.S. Anderson for this film. The fault almost entirely goes to Tom Rothman, 20th Century Studios/Fox's lead executive at the time who was woefully out of touch and who ruined many a franchise film and potential blockbuster in the mid-late 2000s. The Aliens vs. Predator movies were just the first casualty of his reign of terror. Anderson was just a hired gun who had to put together the mess into something enjoyable.

If you think about Marcus, he’s basically a man - built like a machine - who travels to the future from the past, and ended up saving John Connor. It’s basically a reversal of the T800/Kyle Reese role.

YESSSS WE ARE SO BACK, I watch this film a week ago and was awesome, so fun, agree on a bit too fanservicing, but you know what after all this time, I'm just happy is a good Alien film and not a mix bag......but my dude my dude PLEASE go watch TERMINATOR ZERO NOW. you have another episode that need to be done, not want to spoiler anything, so just please go make a new entry in the Terminator series as well, have fun XD.

I saw the 4+ hour podcast EFAP did... Unfortunately, I don't know how to defend Alien: Romulus from most of their arguments. It WAS entertaining, but I don't think it's better than a 4/10. It's worse than Alien: Covenant IMO. ( That movie gets a 6/10 from me)

All together now: Why do the characters stop for guns at a gun store instead of getting out of town? Why do the elders send only one Predator to clean up the mess? Why does the government think dropping a nuke on the town when several of the national guard are still inside a good idea? Why does the Predator take off its gear when it's fighting the Predalien? Why does the Predalien just STAND THERE when the Predator takes off its gear? Why does the military cover up this event? Why do the filmmakers think we care about this whiny pizza boy? WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY _WHY?!_

Man, I remember watching this series back before Alien: Isolation came out back when I was in high school. How times have changed. And yet, seeing another one makes me feel like coming home. Glad to see you again Jimmy.

As much as I liked the first half of the movie the moment Prometheus DNA was injected every character's IQ including the Xenomorphs' dropped sharply. Unhealthy addiction to the black goo ruined the second half of the movie. Almost as if the two were written by completely different people for completely different movies. PS: just found a gem in the comments: the scarred Xenomorph should've impaled Rain when catching her, making Andy the surprise antagonist for the third act.
