the problem lies with the fact that they did the exact opposite of that until 2013 and never got money for it... They are also translating sega game in english and that takes a lot of their time. There was at least a nod to the Trauma series in P5. Nothing super obvious but while watching TV - the medical drama - it plays an OST track from Trauma Team. Would love to see a new title for the switch with the joy cons, even if it’s just a remake. Some sort of proper recognition would just be enough even...
@Alovon Жыл бұрын
TBF wonder if the Trauma Series may actually be in the Persona Universe. Under the Knife/Second Opinion take place in 2018 (At least all signs indicate that at least), and Persona 5 is in 2016, so the medical tech advancement very much could fit with the timeline of Persona considering all the way in Persona 3 (2006 to 2009?) you have people creating life-like battle androids who are capable of enough sentience to manifest a Persona. UTK2 is in 2021 which nothing particularly off there. New Blood is in 2028 so fair bit out there, but considering forces like the Antisocial Conspiracy in P5 exist, other similar organizations probably could result in the dystopic elements seen in New Blood's 2028 (Can't expect a Phantom Thief-like group to rise up in every country and learn of the nature of those sorts of things) Trauma Team is firmly in the USA and Portland Maine of all places, so fair bit away from Caduceus Japan of UTK/SO, Caduseus Europe of SO, or even Caduceus USA in Maryland (Although TBF makes one certain plot point very "huh" with respects to viability unless a certain helicopter is the most fuel-efficient thing in the universe.). But it is after UTK2, so probably could be in their universe's equivalent to 2023 (COVID not happening to the degree it did due to the universe's further medical tech advancement in the late 2010s and GUILT making people more scared about that)

Devoted Trauma Center fan here. I came across your video just today and I absolutely love how everything is laid out. As much I really love the game (I will literally gush about it like a hyper fangirl), I am not afraid to admit its flaws. I think your video helped me articulate it better to why UTK2 was kind of forgettable and why New Blood is probably the best. I am actually torn between NB and TT being my top favorite. NB does have a more mature story especially with a themes. A friend of mine pointed out that NB could've been made the way it is as a sequel because the TC fans were growing up. Trauma Team does have its flaws, I was surprised you didn't like the forensics section (i clearly loved it and you were definitely right about it being like the Ace Attorney investigation gameplay); however you pointed out "Trauma Center is to save lives" and then I understood why you think Forensics is out of place. Although I see the forensics as another branch of understanding anatomy or medicine (i could be railing away here) since a background of the field requires it, just in a different way. Fun fact, Naomi was supposed to be a vet apparently (how does that relate to human medicine???), but as you stated, the devs can only cram so much into one disc. I absolutely love the nicknames you came up with for the TT characters. I also agree Hank's superhero bit was totally unnecessary, also I just find Tomoe being a ninja very extra. In defense to Kimoshima's mortician portion of the game, it is technically dealing with patients in trauma. For morticians, dead patients are their victims; the diagnosis is to realize how they were killed. Granted they stretched it where Kimoshima is both mortician and detective; it also showed how she helped to discover where the main game's disease occurred and how it was transferred. In that respect, illnesses can be learned from morticians who search through dead patients for answers. Though I will admit it feels a bit random when comparing to the previous games. It is pretty much hit or miss; one either likes the slower pace mystery-portion of the doctor world or finds it a slowdown compared to the faster-paced operations.

Funny, because UTK2 is my favorite game from the series. I agree that the story was kind of all over the place, but it felt a lot more personal when it came to the characters. Second Opinipn/UTK was very heavy on the impending doom of bioterrorism and seemed to entirely focus on that. On the other hand, I really liked to see how the characters would interact on a day-to-day basis in UTK2. It opened the doors for some pretty good character development and made them relatable, especially Derek and Angie. I do certainly think that they could have done a better job story wise, but I did appreciate that switch in focus. I think that game honestly made me like Derek and Angie the most and I hoped for them come back in a later game. But unfortunately... we know that never happened. I really wish they had gotten the same treatment/revamp as Trauma Team. They really deserved proper voiceover and dynamic cutscenes. Speaking of Trauma Team, that game truly stepped it out with the gameplay, interface and artwork. It angers me how ATLUS did an absolutely horrible job marketing the game despite it being an absolutely wonderful and unique experience. It was also not the best time to release a game for the Wii... it would have been revolutionary had it been released years prior, properly marketed, at the heat of the Wii hype... *sigh* and Its poor sales really screwed over the series. Ah, so long trauma center :( one can only hope

Ah, Trauma Center, a series that was amazing, and that, if it is over truly, I do think it did end on a high note with Trauma Team, it was amazing, and definitely the best of the Trauma Center Games, best story, best look, the most developed gameplay, and IMO the best music. Although, a Trauma Center game on Switch, with the base of Trauma Team, with some of Persona 5's flare thrown into it would be amazing to have, and would give it a great treat Heck, they could go back and make a "Trauma Center Collection" and remake all the old games in the style of Trauma Team (Touching up in regards New Blood primarily, the Voice Acting can likely stay the same on that one) with a reworked story (And freaking fix the continuity of where Caduceus and Dr.Stiles.etc, especially due to the English Translation clashing with New Blood and Team). And the Switch would be perfect, for it, in portable mode, you can have the style of the OG DS games (With adjustments due to the Switch not having a Stylus), and the Wii control style for Console mode. The reason that's possible is due to the JoyCons actually having the ability to be used as Wii controllers, heck there are a number of straight-up Wii ports with controls being relatively intact, the Joy-Cons are accurate enough for a Second Opinion/New Blood/Team style game

"What does Forensic have to do trauma center?" My guys forensic science is very critical to medical field and helps them develop plans on how to treat certain things more effectively. I like your channel, but that's a dumb question to ask. Forensic peeps have to go to medical school too and while you're not saving lives or helping patients you are helping the family of victims who lost a love one.

Trauma centre was the series that got me into Atlus when growing up and It had disappointed me finding out that they had discontinued the series and the last trauma centre game that I played was New Blood and the games on the DS as Trauma Team never got released in Europe. I agreed with many things you had said and I really do hope that people speak up more on this series! Keep up the good work with these videos!!

You know, there's another medical game on the DS that is a mix of Trauma Center and Ace Attorney, and it's called Life Signs. Unfortunately it's a very obscure game (in fact, that's actually the second game of the storyline, the first one was Japan exclusive) but it's actually pretty good. It's not very long, and there aren't many operations, but I love it. It's very realistic, it doesn't have any fantasy stuff like the Trauma series and deals with a lot of common problems related to health. Like, one of the characters is an old man who's being living on the hospital for a long time because of an illness and he decides that even if he's gonna die soon if he leaves, he wants to leave and stay with his family the time he has left. The game is goofy at times but then it has some really human and realistic moments like that and it's pretty good. I wish it would be more well-known.

interesting takes on trauma team. personally kimishima's sections were refreshing to play after all the surgeries. As well as being someone who's been on the receiving end of multiple endoscopies i found the tomoe sections very intersting to play through.
@gyppygirl20214 жыл бұрын
The main issue with endoscopy (at least imo) was that the control scheme was absolutely horrible. I actually liked the way the operations were designed, and they would've been fantastic if the controls were even slightly better than they were. Nothing can salvage Tomoe as a character though.

Man I loved this video! Made me super reminiscent. Personally, and something you didn't mention; while the story does suffer in Under the Knife 2 for the DS, the high-score difficult arcade chasing action is way better than Under the Knife 1. Also, there's a romhack for Under the Knife 2 that allows you to use the Wii-style tool-switching on the DS! (i.e. the only way some of us will EVER beat those X-missions).

It really drew the line (pun intended) of fun and chalenging gameplay. I played these on a DS btw. Spoilers: I remember getting so mad when treating a Triti patient on UtK1 and one of the reasons I haven't completed the game yet is because of the Triti sinner operation on Act 6 (I finished UtK2 tho).

Well, I definitely think switch motion control for docked/tabletop mode, and touch for handheld is the move. Okami HD is a wonderful proof of concept for this idea, where you can use different control schemes based on the mode your switch is in.

First time I knew about this when Dr. Ed Hope (the one who reviewed Cells at Work episodes) played the tutorial level and was fascinated about it. Saw a bit of Game Grumps gameplay, and shocked how it spiralled to a world threat story hehe. The soundtrack I agree is pretty great. I do hope they think of returning it, and frankly Switch's pointer-style potential hasn't been fully been unlocked yet (as its 3D gyro technology enables it to accurately read changes of position to simulate Wii pointer functions).

I can't believe you never talked about the 7th campaign in trauma team. The 7th campaign becomes available after you beat all six doctors campaigns and it fleshed out all the characters as you go on this epic quest to save humanity from a super virus. Because it's not a trauma center game without you fighting a man made super virus at some point in the story.

The switch version could work like The World Ends With You, where you have motion controls in docked and touch controls in portable mode. I think it would work a lot better since so many of the issues with motion controls in TWEWY imo had to do with the action combat. Here, there'd be much more room for recentering your cursor (plus they'd definitely put more effort than square into making good controls on a game centered around them).
@aragoonn4 жыл бұрын
RE investigations in the Trauma Team. I haven't played them so I can't speak for the story. But quite often investigation is needed for treatment. For instance, a fungal infection in the lung, an investigation team may be needed to look at the patient's home to locate the origin of the fungus so that when the patient goes home they're not re-entering a dangerous environment. Active operations are actually a very very minor part of most medical treatments, take it from someone who's been caring for a chronically ill person for 2 years. investigating and understanding the illness/trauma, and what happened up until the point of hospitalization, are often be very important in treating something. Which can be difficult if the patient cant tell you what happened. So to me, the investigation aspect of the game makes sense to be in there, just sucks that it's not fun to play (though I do enjoy Ace Attorney).
@PaulNBlack4 жыл бұрын
LOL. I find really fun your complain about the endoscopy section. Because it's actually pretty close to how you would do an actual endoscopy. Of course, it's extremely simplified, but it still has a similar feel. I really loved Trauma Team, it might feel unfocused (specially with the forensics part), but as a med student back then, when I was still undecided about what specialty I wanted to follow, it was fun to not be stuck as just a surgeon.
@Netist_2 жыл бұрын
Extremely hard disagree on the diagnostics and forensics in Trauma Team. Trauma Team definitely isn't my favorite Trauma Center game, but I just can't wrap my head around thinking those two modes were mediocre or bad. Both were extremely enjoyable, with well-told stories, and I honestly never thought they were terribly difficult. I can understand how forensics might not totally fit in with the rest of the gameplay, but not only was it a good mode, but frankly it might have been my favorite mode in the game. The only thing holding it back is the inherent lack of replayability compared to most of the other modes.

I think another factor might have been that around the time of 2008 to 2009 when Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 PS2 came out, Atlus was struggling financially heck, Persona 4 was pretty much made on almost no budget to the point it can be considered an rom hack of Persona 3, so maybe they wanted to avoid another situation like that. There's also the fact Under the Knife 2 had low sales as well, so they maybe felt it was too much of an risk budget wise.

Me and my mom had Second Opinion many years ago (I think she got it for herself since I only remember playing it to help her), but after we couldn't get past a specific operation we just lost interest and got rid of it. As far as an adaptation of the series is concerned, I feel like it wouldn't work very well as anything but a game series without major changes ala Pokemon. I just have a hard time picturing it working well in anime form. Regarding future installments, I think part of the reason more games weren't released for systems like the 3DS and Wii U is because developers rarely utilized those systems gimmicks effectively or properly, if at all. Had more games properly utilized things like touch or motion controls then maybe, but because they didn't it led to the stigma that gimmick=bad and so was often ignored in favor of traditional controls. Maybe in the future it can come back but don't hold your breath.

The story of the Trauma Team is even more fantastical CR-S01’s entire plotline is one big cliche of fantastical afflictions Not-Chie is haunted by a ghost Hank has his superhero side-gig, performs an incredibly precise surgery with a bullet in him, and manages to power the old wing using his body as a conduit for at least 10 minutes (and afterwards is willing to throw hands with FBI agents) Everybody from Tomoe’s family can Instant Transmission around, and her dad had to be cut open with a katana because normal blades couldn’t cut him Gabe has his robot friend Naomi talks to the dead.
