Cruz knee injury happened during the same exact game that Beckham played for the Giants, in Philly. They never played a game where both were healthy. If Cruz hadn't gotten his knee torn up in Philly that night he and OBJ would have been unstoppable. He lost his burst, and couldn't do it anymore. He went to the Bears, got cut preseason, and that was it. As for that boat trip, OBJ dropped two passes that turned 2 very possible TD drives into field goals when the Giants could have gotten off to a big lead. Basically the host got just about everything wrong here.

Great story! I had never even heard of Victor Cruz until he scored those first two touchdowns against my beloved Eagles, then proceeded to salsa dance. And in the final game of that season, the Jets gave up that ridiculous 99-yard touchdown to him at the end of the game. That put the Giants into the playoffs and knocked my Eagles out. I felt like Victor was salsa dancing on my heart that entire season. Love his story though.

But if we're going on your perception of it then we have to take into account the multitude of metrics that can be used. The QB position alone has so many different metrics. Theres career wins: Brady (320). Theres passer rating: Rodgers (102.6). Theres passing yards: Brees (77,416). Theres rushing yards: Vick (6,109) Theres 4Q comebacks: P. Manning (43).

I read a book about Victor my Freshman year of high school, although I was a Chiefs fan, when I started getting into football, he was one of my favorite players. Victor also got into some trouble with gangs due to the area he lived in, not him joining any, but he had gotten in scuffles in then, one time while they were playing basketball I believe, he and his friend beat some gang members in football, the guys tried fighting them and they ran, Victor also took karate and I believe was a black belt, while running, Victor did a 360 kick and broke one on their noses and he was a freshman or something, but as a young football player, he got in trouble just with curfews and stuff, I think he almost got shot in a club early on in his career. He had to retake the SAT over 5 times to be eligible to play college football. At the start of his football career, he played center and never wanted to do anything else than that, but his dad was a coach and insisted he touches the ball, so in a game they put him at fullback and he took it 60 yards to the house or something on the first play. He never talked about his dads suicide in the book that I remember, really sad though. But dude was just straight up an amazing athlete, still is. And he’s an even better human being, check out his Instagram and he’s a great guy who overcame a lot of adversity.

I was in 7th grade when the Giants went on their second miracle super bowl run in 2011. Cruz was the shit, he was my favorite player. It’s a shame that his career ended early, but I think he basically got to enjoy an entire career’s worth of achievement from that 2011 season alone. He was an all pro, pro bowler, and super bowl champion. The vast majority of players never come close to achieving that.

I remember that Hard Knocks episode where he had the 3tds on the Jets. Rex Ryan was pissed. Quickly looked Cruz up in fantasy and added him, but found out about the injury. Ended up adding him the following year and enjoyed that season.
