Warcry is still great. While the setting lacks the distinct flavor it had while in the eightpoints, the design is possibly even better now with the simple addition of reactions. It has given it a lot more depth without weighing it down beneath a mountain of new rules. I also recommend checking out the divine blessing rules. They are particularly handy for those warbands who have awkward point models that make it difficult to fill a list all the way to 1k. Not game changing, but really handy to have. It really is one of GW's best designs.

Nice round up Andy. Really enjoying these. According to the guy from only games in the latest interview at painting phase where he showed one of these colour 3D printed minis, we 're still very far off plug'n'play in general when it comes to printers. We 're like how the paper printers were in the 80's so there is still way to go.

Thanks Andy for the update - another great news video. Loved the selection and style of games.. I also stopped with Warcry after the released of those faction books and, despite buying them, I struggled to keep up with the various catacombs releases first and the new season now. My last game was with the catacombs rules which was great. I think the fragmentation of rules and the multiple places where to find rules etc. affected me negatively.

The Covid days opened up a lot of eyes to how GW did business here... They kept releasing books for their games that people weren't really able to play. After the whole Covid mess, people were able to go out and play again and all their old books they spend a great deal of money on, were already out of date and you needed to spend that money all over again.... And that got a lot of folks thinking here about how much GW tries to take their customers for a ride.

I've noticed that the WarCry sets are getting smaller ... with less terrain (only a single piece ...). Not sure if that has affected the price as much as it should. I wanted to like WarCry, even got the 2 player starter sets ... but as per usual I *squirrel* got distracted. The one thing I learned to love about Mantic is that their games are finished. Sure, Firefight got a new book and Kings of War will get the 'clash of kings' updates, but I don't feel I have to buy them. It's all there ... in the rules. WarCry was brilliant in its initial release (chaos vs chaos) and IMHO should have stuck to that theme while opening up the game by letting players build their own gangs from scratch (a 'Realms of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness' book focused on WarCry/Necromunda like the original was for WHFB & 40k would have been brilliant). Adding an Ork-only variant would have made sense too ('OrkCry'...or maybe just 'Waaaghh!' :D) , but that never happened. Instead we were getting wave after wave of gangs/warbands and I felt like it wasn't worth to make it into a hobby.

Didn't get to Warcry until 8 mins in... Cool to find out about the other stuff though but I was itching for the Warcry bit. Warcry was my main pandemic game! It was the only game my sister would play with me during lockdown. I haven't played Warcry 2.0 either. I have bought a few of the new minis and these look like must buys for my collection, except for the terrain, I've been skipping those since I have more than enough terrain already.

I think Firefight has a bigger up-hill struggle than KoW. 40K is still in print unlike WFB, and Legion & Grimdark Future seem to eat up the rest of the Sci-Fi wargame space between them.

I don't disagree its an uphill struggle but the rules are solid so its starting in a good place.

Nice one Andy, I can't get the thought of you painting 15mm given some of your recent comments out of head 😆. Do you know if there are any gameplay videos of Pit Lord? I've stayed away from BSS just because of the cost of shipping, then VATand potential customs fees, alongside courier tax collection fees. It makes it an expensive punt. A more in depth review from you post Christmas?

Good stuff Andy Warcry has had such up and down releases. Starter and first warbands were great, Catacombs was okay but off target with the one off board, Red Harvest had great terrain and a too generic warband, and then they made a mistake. Too long without a new product, then compendium books, then a new edition that outdated those books after three months, which they then took too long to mention they were going to pdf all the models, and the online excitement just kinda died.

Warcry died when GW changed the rules to v2 and gutted all depth in favour of a mindless dice fest.
