If Zvonareva, Dementieva or Radwanska are on the list, Pliskova should be there as well. Played semifinal of all slams, lost in 2 finals (US and Wimbledon) in tight 3 setters and compared to 3 mentioned above, she was also WTA no.1.

Jankovic was my favourite. Skillful counterpuncher with enough power and precision to succeed against the hard hitters. Should have won at least 1-2 GS. Was a bit theatrical at times which was entertaining to me but of course rubbed some the wrong way. Her theatrics unfortunately also threw her of focus plenty of times. But she was also someone who could express joy on the court, which I personally miss to see in most active players. And she was not starstruck by any names opposite her on the court. Would go toe to toe with Serena when it came to theatrics :). Miss her on the scene.

Then 3 years later, she was up a break in the third set against Graf on the final of the french open final, but still lost. Having said that, i remember in 1993, she was down 6-1 5-1 against sabatini at the french....and she managed to win!!

Watching Azarenka today reminds me of Elena. Both are headcases. No lead is safe either way. Victoria was down to Kalinina 1-5 in Adelaide, but came back to win set in a TB. The reverse could happen up 5-2 only to drop the set and a match. They're hard to watch. ;-)

@@jamiesatyr1309 Her serve improved a lot come 2009 & 2010. I actually think she had one of the best serves on the tour at that point. It was unfortunate she had that injury at the 2010 French Open because she was red hot during the whole tournament and if only she could extend her retirement to just one more year I believe she could win a GS. 2011 was probably among the weakest season ever. Also, I dont think a weak serve is a deterrent to win GS. Victoria Azarenka has bad serves but she won 2 GS. Kerber is another weak server who managed to win 3 GS.

There are other matches as well against top opponents she couldn't close out. I think this is the reason she never won a slam-not necessarily because she was 'at the wrong place at the wrong time'.

I would personally add Amanda Coetzer to this list! Everyone, who is old enough to have witnessed and followed tennis back in late 90's at least during the transitional era between Graf gen and Williams sisters gen should know that name! But if you are curious just check out her career resume and you would understand, why she should be at least an honorable mention on this list! She surely deserved at least one grand slam title more than freaking Iva Majoli (does anyone even remember who that is these days??...yeah thought so...) Some would argue, that players of that same era like Schett and Kournikova should also be mentioned, but if you know a thing or two about tennis, neither the austrian nor the russian were that good of a singles players! All they had back in the day is the "star power" and they were basically nothing more but Eugenie Bouchards of their era! (aka players with lots of media hype behind them, but not that much to show for it...)...

The only one on this list who would've eventually won a slam, in my opinion was Jaeger. Too bad about that shoulder , she had a great dealbof talent. But hadn't developed her serve yet. Back then, young girl players were not trained correctly and played way too much tennis, while their bodies were still growing and under developed... Just ask Tracy Austin... the other women on this list all had weak serves...the only exception was Shriver who only knew how to slice and dice on her forehand. She could not hit a topspin forehand. She did win several grand slam doubles titles alongside Martina Navratilova.
