This does not surprise me at all. I saw him live in Cleveland in 1996. At one point during his show he called out people in the crowd and challenged them to a fight right there on stage. Scarface said Pac wanted to go down into the lobby but his entourage held him back. Pac was never scared, he was more afraid of being smeared of his name than dying. After that sexual assault conviction, he knew if he doesn't speak up and die for what he stands for. They will lie about him. His mother was a black panther and that entire movement got smeared and branded as extremist nutjobs. His last words before he died was "F%CK YOU!" in response to a police officer holding him in his arms trying to save his life while being asked who shot him. In his last moments before death, he didn't even think about doing anything that could save his life. He choked on his blood and died after saying that. His behavior as reported consistently proves that Pac cared more about his beliefs than possible consequences of his actions. That's why he was such a interesting person because he died for what he believed in. A coward dies a thousands deaths, a soldier dies but once. This is what Pac featured on his track "If I Die Tonight" It's taken from Julius Caesar in the Shakespearean play, it means that those who run from their fears and never face them are dying metaphorical deaths. They are losing a part of their self-worth and their soul in doing so. The brave never experience this kind of degradation. Pac was a educated man unlike your modern day rappers or gang members. He knew he was gonna die from his lifestyle. He accepted his fate but wanted his legacy to a lesson for future generations. Even after this event and the following shooting and attempted robbery, he didn't change anything about himself. In fact, he got more involved in gang activities which is what led him to stomp out Orlando Anderson and later caused a retaliatory shooting and his death.

Tupac was always on some forward thinking stuff… In retrospect/hindsight his marketing was GENIUS!! 1)put a single out that was fire for the radio, 2)it was a physical sales market meaning you couldn’t just sell a song at a time like nowadays 3)have songs on the tape/cd that promoted a vision of unity and peace within our communities and rally to “fight the power”(P.E. style). What a shame he didn’t get to live to his potential. The world would be a much different place than it is now!
