I dont mind you alter a pattern at all. In fact, I learned I can be creative and think outside of the box to improve a design to my liking. I'm learning the most from trying things out and making mistakes. Frogging is no frustrating thing anymore cause it teaches me new things. I guess I'm more brave and self-conscious with my crocheting since I watch your endeavors 😊

The astigmatism struggle with jumping lines while reading is so true! It is so confusing when I start reading and then the next line makes no sense and I find out that I jumped one or more lines and have to go back and read again 😅. Don't worry, everyone with astigmatism can relate, Corinna, it is not a "you" problem, it is normal to misread because it happens all the time specially with small font text.

Oh shit, is that why I skip lines more often now??
@deborahdonnelly84232 ай бұрын
Knit Companion is a wonderful source for all knitters and crocheters. You can highlight the line you’re working on.n. OK it won’t work on a printed pattern but I can almost always find a PDF.

Sometimes see doubles of letters or numbers and often have a doubling halo. I often print out the pattern larger, which helps.

I have used a lot of coasters, made a lot of coasters, am making coasters to give for Christmas. Out of the ones I've used the ones made out of cotton are better. They adsorb the condensation that drips down the glass, and heat does not melt them. I am assuming that is why in all the patterns I've been using they call for cotton yarn. Love the tiger look of your coasters, and I have been using that stacked single crochet a lot and like the look of it so much. Thank you for introducing it to me. Never too late for an old crocheter to learn a new trick.

A hint to figure out if the pattern is US or UK (besides looking for sc) - look for words like color and center (used in the US) vs colour and centre which is used in the rest of the English-speaking world

I guess I just accidentally learned why it’s important to slip into the next stitch!! I’ve been crocheting for 20 years but I’m mostly self taught and I was always stubborn about this specific instruction

So cute, Corinna! I love it when you modify patterns to fit your crochet style! (e.g. stacked scs instead of ch 3) As you've said before, the crocheters in the 1800s probably modified the pattern themselves. If they even HAD patterns. A lot of them probably had to reverse-engineer their items from a finished item. If it bothers watchers when you don't follow the pattern exactly, they can do the pattern themselves to satisfy that itch. Don't let the naysayers mess with your fun. I feel sad when you say people are probably going to be upset that you didn't follow the pattern exactly, because your voice has such a hurt sound. Keep up the good and fun work! You are awesome!

Dear Corinna. You have No idea how much I enjoy your content. I love it. Also, your voice is so soothing that sometimes I put on one of your playlists just to sleep. Your voice is like a lullaby. I’m so happy that you also make Tunisian crochet. It’s new to me that it’s that old. I’ve been “hakking” for 15 years thinking it’s a new technique. Please make a playlist with tricot crochet. (Afghan, Tunisian whatever.) And please just keep the hook working. You are the one to keep me sane.

You nailed it! Hooray! You'll absolutely need more than one set, since every holiday should have its own set. And yes, please continue to make these things your own; sometimes, it's the only way to see a pattern through. I don't really care to work with cotton yarn, but my next two projects require it, so I'm learning. It simply doesn't have the same life to it as acrylic. I'm looking forward to finishing up, because I've got socks to knit for Christmas, in all sorts of colors and sizes. I'm glad I'm good at math, it made writing the pattern so easy!

Altering a pattern in my book is the norm, I can’t remember the last time I worked a pattern exactly as written. I think that it was even more the norm in vintage patterns as the writer often left out obvious instructions they assumed everyone would know. Another great video & I’m intrigued to see the first pattern you picked that was incomplete. ❤️❤️👏👏🇬🇧

I enjoy watching you make these old patterns. I think that there's nothing wrong w/ changing a crochet project, as long as you get the same result. I change crochet a lot when I watch tutorials when making projects, and they generally stll look like what the person I was just watching in the tutorial made.

BTW, I'm making a blanket for my hubby, and the 2 rows are alternating. After I make the ch, I'm supposed to sc, then dc next and rep until my project is as big as I want. So, for me, I changed it to dc, sc. It will work out, and be just as nice.

The "after thought" of the fiesta colours in the printing was intentional. To keep the colour printing costs low in this era you will find block printing or stamping of details and colours. This technique wan done in sewing patterns, craft patterns and books of all sorts

I have Hobbii sport cotton in my hands now. I LOVE Hobbii cottons in a #1 #2 & #3. My hands hurt too badly to use #4 or larger any more. I would have predicted it would be the opposite …..thick yarn would be easier….but I found the exact opposite. I forget about the stacked single….I’m back to using it now!

When I do color changes like this, I keep it from tangling by holding one yarn in the front as I change and the other I hold in the back, so like whenever you change from tan to dark brown, hold the tan strand toward the front and keep the tan skein on the left. When switching to tan, hold the dark brown in the back and keep the dark brown skein on the right. I hope that makes sense.

When using different colours, always keep one colour thread to the back and the other colour thread always to the front. There won't be so much tangling.
