As someone who recently completed boot camp these are some rules and what to expect after lights out. No more than 7 people out of their rack. At first divisions tend not to follow this, but they will learn quickly that an RDC sticks around at night to check on compartments and hand out the plan of the day to whoever is standing watch at that time. The watch is essentially someone from the division that stands guard at the door and roves around the compartment broken up to 2 hour shifts during the night and 4 hour shifts during the day. It is manned 24/7 with the exception of mandatory events like firefighting or PFAs. There will be some nights where someone has to stand watch at like 0200-0400 and everyone does it at some point. Do not fall asleep while you're on watch because i shit you not that is something that recruits can get captains masted and administratively processed out of the navy for. Generally speaking people tend not to fall asleep right away whether they chat with cliques, use the time to shine boots, write letters, or do whatever. If you're in an integrated division there is no traveling between compartments to visit your fellow recruits of the opposite sex. While uncommon and not usually broken, there was a couple caught for Netflix and chilling in the laundry room in my graduating class, and no one heard of them again. If you're part of the spec ops division, exercise is fairly common late at night, and unlike other compartments there is a pull up bar that people like to use at night. Any more questions about boot camp with detailed answers let me know!

When you're on watch and you see people out of their bunks, how do you not be a blue falcon but also ensure you yourself don't get in trouble with the RDCs?

I'll be shipping off tomorrow and any tips/advice about boot camp is greatly appreciated. Everything you've written here is interesting. I don't necessarily have any specific questions but If you have anything else to add I'd love to read more! The nerves/anxiety just hit me like a ton of bricks today and reading the comments(also watching these videos) are sort of reassuring at this moment. hahaha

Im in the process of getting my paper work filed. My only question is wouldnt someone want to get as much sleep as possible? Im going off the fact you guys are only getting like 4-5 hours of sleep a night.
@You_a_buster7 жыл бұрын
Chrollo when you meet your Rdc's they can't beat you yet? You have to be medically cleared they'll take all you guys to medical and then when you guys get back it's a green light, when your Rdc's say hydrate get ready for the beating lol
@sir_clovis82917 жыл бұрын
so here's the deal, aside from the first couple of days, moment of truth, battlestations, etc. most nights you're given 8 hours sleep throughout your 8 weeks. Your body will adapt and you'll get into the swing of things. Now watch at night sucks and it is something everyone does eventually. If you're assigned that you may only get 6 hours, 2 hours / wake up for watch / 4 more hours to sleep, or 4 hours / wake up for watch / sleep for 2 more hours. Also if you value you're sleep and want a job / leadership position in your division Id advise you don't pick port or starboard watch mentioned in your DEP guide.

We never had rdc's come back in at all. Only the ood around midnight to bring the new outfit of the day in, but we did have a shit ton of clicks. We also had a fight break out the first week after taps and every freaking night until graduation we had groups try and give motivational speeches and talk about how "we needed to come together as a team." And we had one person leave due to "mental health" but she was in seps still when we graduated.

FOR EVERYBODY HERE, CHECK THIS OUT: I don't know, JTsuits, there's still a lot that we don't know about boot camp. For instance, what if one of us is in our rack, sleeping face up, but we want to sleep face down? What's the rollover protocol? Also, what if the stream in the water fountains comes from the left side, but we kind of like it from the right? Can we write to whoever is in charge? Ah, here's a good one: what color are the floor tiles, man? That kind of stuff is important.

Now it didnt happen every single time youd do one of those things, only when whatever felt like being an asshole, which was about 2/3rds of the time, and they eased up after about week 5. (at least for my division, 128, 22-06) Then the week before graduation depending on how high in the training group you are, that last week is like no bs 19-06 or 20-06

In my division my RCPO wouldn't let anybody talk so pretty much nothin fun happened after taps except for one story. So one time at 0300 the roving RDC in our ship came outta nowhere and started yelling at our port watch and tossed his rack and yelled "FIX IT." Around 30 minutes later he storms in our compartment all like "IM BACK MOTHERFUCKER"

Lol. I remember when I went through seps for the navy, and an rdc came in and there were people playing chess, talking, out of their racks, and goofing off. We had to wake up and wait until 2200 til we could tap, then we revileved at 0400 for a few days. That was a lot of fun

I went through boot camp almost a year ago, I was also a all male division on ship 14. We got our asses beat everyday, we fucking HATED integrated divisions because their ass beating were easier and didn’t last as long! And the RDC’s watch what they say around females. Around all males they don’t give a fuck. But a small story about lights out. My RDC’s left for the night and we did our usual thing everyone played dead for like 5 minutes and we went into our usual routines, people started writing letters, getting out of their racks and talking, putting out Info from chief or just making fun of each other. Well we had one guy who always stood the first light out watch and while everyone was out doing their own thing he would shout “GOOD EVENING PETTY OFFICER RECRUIT Schmucatelly Ship 14, div 224 hatch watch reporting!” and everyone would scatter. Well this went on for like 5 weeks and we eventually just stopped listening to him. Well one dreadful day we were doing the usual and he snap to attention and is yelling louder than usual but no one moved. Until we heard him yell “GOOD EVENING SENIOR CHIFE!” And the Senior Chief yelled “WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE! And everyone was trying to low crawl on the outside of the racks in the dark 😂lucky he didn’t see anyone he just saw shadows and said our deck log was shit and threw it in the P-way

Yo JT, from your experience, how receptive are new recruits to other's help with Navy info while in bootcamp? I want to make sure the guys in my division have the best overall chance to succeed and I'm pretty good with memorization and Navy info (like rates and shit you gotta know like chain of command, general orders and the Sailor's Creed) and I love teaching people. After scoring pretty well on the ASVAB I've been tutoring others around my recruiting office that've failed or want to retake and they've done pretty well. Overall I just want my boys to do well, y'know? Am I gonna get my ass beat for that?
