I wasn’t at all surprised to learn that my devout Assembly of God Covert Narcissist Mom (she was an A/G church secretary before going to work at A/G Headquarters where she retired from) recently sold her house that held 46 years of hoard. She was abusive to the crew hired to help her clean it out. (So glad it was no longer my job!!!!) She now brags that she’s living in Maranta Village, an A/G assisted living facility. She brags because you must be vetted by your pronounced faith to live there and in her own words, “It’s where the A/G missionaries and pastors get to live.” 🤢 Who cares. She still wears her wedding ring and plays the roll of devoted wife to her late husband, and professes that they were high school sweethearts and never had a fight. She never admits that my enabling father mentally checked out of the marriage years after they wed. Dad even went as far as to volunteer to work 2nd shift so he didn’t have to spend that much time together. He was miserable but never had the guts to stand up to her and that cowardly man stood by and watched what she did to me, the scapegoat… never once standing up for his daughter. So now she portrays herself that she’s living the dream. I’d like to say that she now will be found out, but honestly they all seem to be brainwashed and go around like their in some sort of a cult. So thankful I escaped.

I just yearn for another rational logical person to share myself with... So tired of being alone bc the NARC sabotaged everything driving everyone & everything away except her pure selfish narcissism. I'm getting so tired & feel myself slipping into deep depression bc it's a non-stop night & day constant struggle to stay calm & not become that person I was before self realization. I'm too strong to fall back into the addiction & self hatred that seems so truly enticing & inviting right now. I just keep telling myself to do more & do better bc i don't want this I really don't but its so utterly exhausting & soul draining to deal with. Literally wish I even knew what the most basic concepts of parental love or any love outside self love would feel like. Its devastating & beyond harmful to only have an undiagnosed NPD be the 1 person solely responsible for you, your education, your health, your social interactions, your life including all of childhood, teenage years, & decades into adulthood be your "upbringing". She was never a mother so I never knew motherly love or nurturing or empathy... She has 6 brothers & sisters yet NOONE has ever helped or stepped in... Failed by my only "parent", failed by family, failed by friends, failed by school, failed by the system, & now failed by life... I don't know what I did in a past life to deserve the suffering & trauma i endured but I truly sincerley don't ever wish another soul to ever suffer 0.01% of it.... @Bob Shingles I used to think that if narcissism (both overt and covert) was due to a subconscious mental disorder but if that was the case why would the narcissist deliberately brag to others about what they did? The only logical explanation is the narcissist knows exactly what they are doing and their actions are indeed 100% intentional. Narcissism is an extremely ugly mental disorder and I've been through the worst of the worst with all the narcissists I have to deal with. Just limit your contact to as little as possible with the narcissist. No contact is better since this gives the narcissist less supply as narcissists need supply as a means to boost their low sense of self/ego.

They are also great at focusing most negative nasty energy directly at someone or something while pretending to be the kindest most positive person all at the same time. It seems so exhausting to even think about. Not to mention you can’t trust anything they say, it hard to even tell if they believe there own bs sometimes bc at times it really seems like they truly be their own lies and other times it’s like it’s just a big game, either way nothing about a person that’s like this is gonna be good for anyone
@happycat04112 жыл бұрын
@@justme8274 You are 100% correct! At least you are not dealing with an entire family of narcissists. Why am I not like my other family members? I'm not really sure but I do think that a lot has to do with my going to university, socializing with other academic like minded students, and also getting my Masters as well. I do know that narcissism is the result of extremely poor parenting practices as our parents from Asia had grade 6 education at best and zero parenting background. Narcissists harm/hurt others because harming and hurting others boosts their fragile egos. Be extremely careful around narcissists because their mentality is if you are not on their side (meaning that you are one of their flying monkeys that they require to boost their self poor esteem) you are against them. BTW ~ Once you have the basic foundation for narcissism, then comorbidity can set in. Which means "covert" and "malignant" can also develop. You have to be extremely careful around narcissists because like most mental disorders narcissists aren't aware that they have a mental disorder.

The "mask coming off" is something I think my mom is now facing with my step dad. Everybody asks why he is so abrasive now. She is constantly on the defense around him. Secondly, I think this applies to a failing society such as our own. Seems everyday now when I go out people are just so nasty now. Things I never had to deal with are now happening everytime I go out. People are rude, mean, selfish, and yes, more openly bigoted now. The masks are indeed coming off.

It's hard when it's your own parent. You can't just walk away or look the other way. But to protect yourself and your little ones (if you have them)from their increasingly abusive and toxic ways, you have to set your boundaries in such a way that you may as well be walking away. The kids are confused because they can tell that you treat grandma a little different. You hope that you can explain it to them in a way that they can understand one day. Otherwise the narc won once again by giving your kids the impression that you are the problem and now you may potentially have a problem with your child forming incorrect memories and reacting to them behaviorally in the future.

I witnessed it. My 62 yr. old narc husband of almost 40 yrs. became even more and more delusional at the end of his life. He passed away last year from a 2 yr. battle with an aggressive cancer. He NEVER GAVE UP his narcissic behavior. I nursed him the whole time when he was sick even when he was so nasty, rude and mean to me. He was such a difficult patient, even though he didn't need to be. It was so hard. I tried my best and he would not show any gratitude, almost out of spite to me. I have a clear conscience though, because I know I gave my all in his time of need as a fellow human being. NOBODY else would have put up with his behavior. And yes, I did see how pathetic he really was and I think that was how I was able to endure his abuse when I took care of him in his last years. He became more and more like a hurt little boy in the end..His narcissim came from early childhood trauma, I realized that after it was all over..its no excuse, just reality..

When a narcissist talks everything is backwards. If they no they mean yes. If they say that they didn’t do it they are admitting they did. My coworker she is nice and she talks at you. Not too you. When she thinks nobody is listening she insults people. Even when you hear her, she starts with crazy making techniques. She starts by being nice then insults you in front of other customers then customers. Then goes back to being "nice" at the end of the day. She calls others psychotic and to me she embodies the word.
