I use urnex grindz every month for my grinders. I use espresso/dark during pumpkin spice season and light to medium roast the rest of the year. I have a dedicated espresso grinder and brew grinder.

Yes! Very important to clean. I cleaned my Mazzer Super Jolly ten years ago and the coffee grinds better and tastes better than ever! 🙄

That Eureka Specialita in your video needs a weekly cleaning or it's clog city.

Is it OK to use the Grindz product on a Eureka Mignon as well as a Baratza Encore?
@SeattleCoffeeGearАй бұрын
Here is a video we specifically did on a Eureka Mignon (Silenzio 55 in this case) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3rWinp4rt6airM

Ive had the same grinder for 15 years. Never cleaned it, never a problem. I dont believe this, its one of those theories of coffee that just dont pan out

I bought a DF54 did not season it and after 4 months with no cleaning and daily use it still retains 0.1g on every espresso grind and if you open it up to run a pourover dose it runs to less than 0.1g, so in my experience the regular cleaning regime is not required.

Uh oh. I’ve never cleaned the grinder on my BBE. It only been two years, though. Shall we discuss washing my coffee cup?

Why would a small amount of oil on the burrs cause the motor to burn out sooner? I’m calling BS. If anything, oil decreases friction which seems like a positive.
@nvalleyАй бұрын
Not wading into the clean-or-not debate, but I think what they're referring to is the oxidization of those oils. You've likely experienced it when oxidized oils become tacky over time and eventually harden like amber. That ends up attracting detritus and increasing friction
@snowkieАй бұрын
@ That I can buy, though the few times I’ve cleaned out my Baratza, I never noticed any tackiness. I’ll pay more attention next time!
@nvalleyАй бұрын
@@snowkie I clean mine every 3 months or so and haven't experienced it on my encore burrs, but definitely had that issue when I bought a eureka second hand. I don't think the previous owner ever did any maintenance or cleaning!

I also have never cleaned my grinder.

why not show the actual process for the most popular grinders, like the Sette 30...

This was an overview on grinder maintenance to generally apply to most grinders but we can definitely consider a grinder workflow video in the future!
