I brought a hibrew 10B for approximately 127€ and it works great. It has a 51mm portafilter that is enough for me. I made my double spout prota filter open basket and I’m satisfied with that. I don’t know why you should by a 400€ machine that does the same thing and take more space on you kitchen sink.
@bnktopa2 ай бұрын
Depends. A $10 000 machine will do the same thing fundamentally, heating water and pushing it through the coffee. Could be better stability with the pressure and/or the temperature, i don't know. But certainly I don't believe they wouls just make it 58mm and add 250€ go the price.

I’ve owned this for a few weeks now. Just bought a bottomless portafilter now looking for good beans
@peterkapunkt67832 ай бұрын
I recently bought the H10A after your (and Lance's) review. A couple of thoughts. I got it for 180€, shipped from within the EU, so no extra fees and an address where you could return it to. I knew the H10plus exists and that's a bit better. But I can't find it within the EU and the cheapest option is 320€ from aliexpress. That's clearly not worth it. I only owned a bean to cup before amd it took me a while to get decent espresso out of the H10a. Mostly because I only had older beans at home. I bought Illy beans which immediately improved the output. I think I can live without the 3 way valve, but it would be nice to have. It sucks a bit, that the flow doesn't stop when turning it off. But that isn't worth almost twice the price. The steam knob is a bit flimsy, but it seems they haven't improved it and just added another piece to it. There is also a (price) point where I'd rather get a gaggia or delonghi, simply because of after sales service. I can live with a 180€ investment breaking after a few years. 300+€ is going to be a difficult purchase of a product without any brand history or service options in my region. At least for me.

Peter...how much does it continue to run after stopping the shot?
@peterkapunkt67832 ай бұрын
@@tonygibbons5Quite a bit, but pretty slow. Not going to lie, it's a bit difficult to hit the exact dose, but it's doable. I press the button a few seconds earlier and then quickly take the cup out. It also helps to immediately release some pressure via the steam wand. Not quite sure what method I'll be using long term. But looking at other cheap machines, or even 400-500€ machines, they all appear to have various flaws (like horrendous drip tray and water tank designs, no temperature control, etc.)
@CharlesLangSamuel8 күн бұрын
I actually prefer without solenoid. The solenoid 1) Wastes water 2) Fills the drip tray, requiring frequent dumping and accidental overfilling and spills. 3) Some machines leak at the internal spout connection to the drip tray. 4) Pucks are more soupy because there is no residual pressure after extraction. I have the H10B and am very happy with it. I previously had the Kitchenaid KES6403. Temp was better than some others but still I just wanted a piping hot Americano. Ability to make 180F+. The HiBrew achieves that. Also I prefer the increased control of the manual valve on the steam/water, rather than “steam by wire” with electronic button. The 51mm portafilter I find better actually than 58 if one likes to use only a little coffee, plus it’s less metal to steal heat from the coffee/warm up. Cool how they got the classic Italian look on the portafilter handle and spouts. Home run machine. Iphone-ization of espresso machines. Only ideas for improvement I have would be even more temp control and if possible consistency, a metal steam knob instead of plastic, and the ability to leave it on for hours so that it stays warmed up.

Great review as always! I received mine about a week ago and revisited this video again. Regarding the thermo block. Do you think it's okay to turn off the machine while the thermo block is hot or do you need to manually cool it down, as you did, before turning it off? I'm not sure if this is something that needs to be done to preserve the longevity of the machine?
@TomsCoffeeCorner24 күн бұрын
Delonghi recommends cooling the thermoblock off after steaming. TBH I often forget to do it, if it's my last drink, and my machine has lasted me for years. But yes, it's probably best practice to do so. Cheers!
@leafknewbetter2 ай бұрын
Had OG model and sent it back. It was good but not great. The main reason I returned it was it doesn’t heat the brew group or portafilter when you power it on. You have to run quite a bit of water to get the group and portafilter mildly warm. That’s my big beef with it or any machine that is thermobloxk only.
@TomsCoffeeCorner2 ай бұрын

@kc0115-d6r2 ай бұрын
According only to the specs of the machine, Legato/Apex >> H10 plus > 3006 > H10A. HiBrew and Gemilai are both well known brand in Asia. The track records seem similar and fine: High value. You got what you pay for. (The above ranking of these four machines actually reflects the prices of them) The most important thing for you to consider is really the warranty so local rebranded 3006 seems to be a better option? Another thing to think about if you ever want to upgrade in the future. They all use 58mm portafilter but HiBrew portafilter (3 ears) is not compatible with common E61 or Gaggia's 58mm.

Is there a small machine that has a warming element of some sort that would keep the porta-filter at the best temperature during the extraction?

Based on my research, I'd go with the Gaggia Classic Pro E24. I like that brass boiler, and it's Italian manufacturing (not China). It has the added benefit of being modifiable with the "Gaggiuino" aftermarket upgrade kit, which gives you extensive control, visibility into the brewing process, and an enthusiastic community that supports Gaggiuino use and further development. If I were considering the H10A Plus versus the Gaggia, personally... I'd go with the Gaggia. The original version of the H10A (the non-Plus version) is on Amazon now February 2025 for $260, and I can't justify paying $500 for the Gaggia.

Based reviews like this, I purchased this machine ~ and it was a mistake. First, the L2 pressure feature (that allows proper 9 Bar extraction) was non-functioning out of the box and no amount of troubleshooting can fix it. Second, the flow rate of water, from either the group head or the steam wand, is very slow ~ 8 oz takes over a minute. Third, the temperature does drop continually throughout the shot. I have a $130 espresso machine that pulls vastly superior shots and it both faster and easier to use! At $399 this should be better, but it's actually far lesser.

Hi Tom, like to ask you about three way solenoid. with your bang for your buck video about Delonghi you mentioned that the machine didn't have a 3 way solenoid and for you that was beter with removing the puck from the portafilter. In this video you called the 3 way solenoid in the H10plus a plus compared to the H10a without the solenoid. Is there a other very good reason to pay like € 500 for the plus instead of well about € 190 for the H10a?
@TomsCoffeeCornerАй бұрын
@@sasko1811 Actually what I meant about the omission of the three-way solenoid for the DeLonghi is, that you have better puck knockouts. But you do have to wait 60 seconds before removing the Porta filter. I think it makes more sense to get the H10A over the plus and save the money.

For that price it makes good espresso. The solenoid valve is really not needed as you can easily control the flow with the steam knob. Looking at the Plus model, the front panel PCB is exposed the same way as in the old model. If you are not careful and let steam run over the buttons, it will corrode the electronics. Mine machine single dose button stopped working after few months. The steam shorted the contacts and since its next to the power button, it now acts as secondary power button 😀 Bummer is, I then tried increasing the pre-infusion time, thinking it would go back to 1s after hitting 10s, but no...
