Drinking beer every day can have some negative effects. But there are some benefits too. And as we discover why I’m going to perform an experiment - drinking a beer every day for 30 days straight.

I've been drinking beer every day for 2 years now (essentially since I started a brewery). I'm 20 pounds heavier than I was, and most of that is fat. I'm doing 20-30 minutes of moderate to intense cardio 6 days a week and eat pretty healthy. I had a physical last year. I told my doctor (honestly) about my lifestyle. When he got my lab results, he did a pleasantly surprised "wow", saying that blood pressure and cholesterol were excellent. He said I could stand to lose 20 pounds, but then asked if I thought I'd be happier 20 pounds lighter. If that meant cutting out beer, I'd say no. I've had family members that never smoked, never drank, and died young from health issues. I've had family members that smoke and drink heavily and live long lives. Everyone is different and everyone's body is different. I think you just have to live life the best you can - be kind to yourself and others.

That's a good analysis within your second paragraph.. I think balance is important for everyone but of course some people can handle less alcohol and others can handle more alcohol and still function at a high level. It depends. I will say though, that while I was on streaks of sobriety for multiple months at a time, everything was better. Still missed the taste of beer though on those streaks.

Undisciplined drinking leads to inconsistent discipline. So if going cold turkey is your way of maintaining discipline then power to you, you're way better at it than most. But if you're able to control both aspects equally I think there's a healthy balance to be had as well. Mad respect either way.
@hamesjetfield0
@hamesjetfield0 2 жыл бұрын
@@XleperXmessiahX depends on how heavy. For me, it was between a quart and a half of whisky a night for a few years. Cold turkey didn't cause DTs, but it messed up my sleep for about a month (like being able to sleep once every 2 days). Your results may vary though. React very fast if you do get DTs. They can be fatal. I did cold turkey because I had Klonopin for emergencies (didn't end up needing it thankfully).

some people can do it. Most people should not do it, in my opinion, as I discovered for myself. I tried the, ‘drinking 2 beers every day or several days a week’ for probably about a year, more or less. What I discovered about myself is that I was actually like, some sort of “low level” alcoholic, if such a thing can exist, because I did not like, drink ten beers a day or anything like that. But even drinking two or three a day every day or at least a few times a week for many months as I did, affected my functionality very, very negatively. All that to say that, I certainly still love a good craft beer, just, in much much more moderation, like, once a week or once every couple weeks kind of moderation.

I skipped some of this, so perhaps it was discussed, but much of the craft beer these days is higher abv than it was even 3 years ago. So when we say 'one or two beers per day' that could mean 1-2 beers at 8oz with 5.5% alcohol, or that could mean 1-2 16oz beers at 11% alcohol. And that is a pretty big difference. So if the latter is true, you're effectively drinking what would be considered to be 4 beers, every day, at a higher than average abv. *went back, it was discussed! Great job!

worked at a liquor store and seen people drink about a 12 pack or fifth of liquor a day. Some are perfectly fine while others are very much not alright. Once you start developing the shakes you know you need to stop or buy more alcohol lol

I have been drinking beer everyday for the last 20 years, anywhere from 7-20 beers a day. Plus ipa's and margarita mix and wine. Even when sick or taking medication, never had any issues, worked everyday through the pandemic, made great money and was able to enjoy some finer spirits, vape, smoke, unprotected sex, etc. Just depends on if you are lucky. My grandpa smoked a carton a week and drank bottles of vodka constantly and lived to be 90. That's life, kids get cancer and die, healthy people die from eating salad or get hit by a car on their early morning jog, moderation is fine, but it still requires a grain of salt. Cheers bitches!

I drink beer everyday since the last 10 years.I do not drink nothing else alcohol except beer (rarely wine). I do not drink even coca cola etc. I take blood tests once a year and Ultrasonography on my liver and everything is fine! Usually i am not getting drunk and i am ok to wake up early in the morning and go to job! The only side effect is the more than normal belly fat. For me beer is ok!

Saying beer has empty carbs is a bit misleading. Beer carbs are maltose which is longer chain carb than for example sucrose or fructose. Beer also has some amount of protein ranging usually from around 0.4g/dl to as high as over a gram per desiliter which can put beer protein content (per calorie) as high as 7-8% which is close to the level of rice and potato. Beer also has vitamins and minerals in it, so calories are not as "empty" as you would have in something like soda or candies.

Yeah, I drink beer everyday, usually 1 to 3. If you do something drastic, like you know go to work everyday, you will be fine. I was in the military for 15 years and most soldiers drink a couple beers at the end of the day. And most soldiers are in much better health than civilians.

I am sceptical of those 'benefits', is it not maybe the case that being a moderate drinker just precludes you from being an excessive drinker by definition and all those risk factors are for excessive consumption i.e. drinking moderately isn't the benefit, *not drinking excessively* is just not to your detriment?
@darrylschultz6479
@darrylschultz6479 2 жыл бұрын
When moderate drinking is said to have benefits, it's of course in comparison to not drinking at all-not in comparison to heavy drinking. The latter would be too obvious to need to be pointed out.

I've drinkin somewhere between 1-4 beers per night for years. Recently I increased to 3-6. I drank heavily yesterday and this morning I was thinking about quitting for a while. But then I found a bunch of bugs in my garage, the tax authority sent me a notification about some inspection, I accidently got hit by a car at low speed and during a basketball game I got hurt while trying to steal the ball from a big dude. Fuck it dudes I am having my beer tonight. Guess a Friday is just not the right day for quitting anyway

I've known 2 people who drank a lot of beer, everyday during many years, and they did get hepatic cirrhosis and died of that. But they were heavy drinkers of beer. And they only drank beer, they didn't drink whiskey, tequila, vodka, etc. So, to me, it was scary. But obviously if you drink maybe 2 (355 ml) cans a day, maybe not every day, it's very different from the 2 people I'm saying.
