I haven't gotten my 31 out for things yet, but I've taken most of my fleet out to the local cruise nights and they always stand out. Most notable would be the 71 Baja that would still be dripping mud and dirt from the trails it was on that day, and my regular work truck big rig. The truck especially draws a lot of questions simply because of how different it is. Kids love it because I let them get up in and on it, heh. Absolutely glad to see you out with them in an A. Not enough pre war cars are out and about and able to be properly enjoyed as a car, instead of behind ropes in a museum.

Paul, I'm with you. I don't understand the thought process in lowering a car,or air ride where the front, back, side to side lifting and bouncing the front ends. Sorry, it must be an area thing. You don't see any on the East coast (thank God). BTW, I had a '65 Super Sport, 327-300, four speed. From the start, it must have been built on a Monday, or a Wednesday, Or a Friday. Several problems, a short in the electrical circuit. Their fix, a bigger fuse. The console harness finally burned up. A rough idle was a wrong distributor (for a six cyl.). The worst was an over heating engine. Lower part of the engine black still had casting sand in it. I was so angry about all of the quality problems, I traded it in on a Buick Rivera. Then the gas shortage. Got a Pinto (29 MPG). The Riv, 8 MPG.

Do you have any advice? All there is left of the body is the cowl. Is there any way to tell what this thing started out life as?

Neat! Well, start by disassembling and taking moving parts apart. I suspect you are going to find a bunch of rusty gears and water in gearboxes. If the rear leaf aprings have not been changed or disassembled from the chassis, you can tell if it was a sedan roadster or coupe by the number of leafs.

Paul, based on what I know about electric cars your Model A is much more environmentally kind and humane to people around the world than that Mustang Mach-E in the video here. Electric cars are actually bad for the environment in building them and keeping them charged. The saddest thing is the human toll in third-world countries, including that of children as young as six years old, working to mine toxic minerals for battery production. I'd rather have a Model A anyway.
@ModelA2 жыл бұрын
I'm an engineer, similar to you. I have given great thought and study to the subject. I was shocked to discover the environmental impact of mining, refining, and processing the materials for the lithium chemistry batteries. If the batteries lasted forever, it would be one thing, but the expected lifespan is 6 years (average) and then they get replaced. That is where the impact really adds up! The waste is so toxic, it cannot be burned safely either (not even gonna talk about the unexpected battery fires!). I thought hydrogen fuel might have been a good answer, but for some reason that fiszled out also.
@discerningmind2 жыл бұрын
@@ModelA Hydrogen would make more sense because we have the gas line and gas station infrastructure already in place. But environmentally it's a wash. I think electric cars are being pushed to make a lot of money for the rich that are in early on it. And they're fooling a lot of people because though falsely, they seemingly fit the global warming narrative. The whole thing makes me angry. And also adds to make me want President Trump back ASAP.

I hear you about your car attracting families with kids . I have a 1930 Austin Bantam coupe , which is basically a model A that was washed and left out in the sun too long and shrank . My coupe is 3/4 the size of your Tudor , I've measured it against the '29 Tudor I used to have . Anyway kids love the thing because " it's just my size " , I'd let them sit in it and steer and dream while their moms would take pictures . Didn't matter if they were a boy or girl they always left with a big grin on their face , and talking a mile a minute about " that little car " . People tend to forget how easily the younger kids get bored when all they can see is the side of fenders and doors all day . If you take a few minutes of your time to show them your funny old car , they will remember it much longer than the candy apple red belly button ( cause everyone has one ) that was parked next to you .

Cars are the excuse, friends are the reason and food is the icing on the cake! The Tudor sounds like it's running great, but stop neglecting the Fordor, he needs some fresh air too!

I took the fordor once. It got some less than positive comments from the crowd that day. I tried explaining it was a completely original survivor, etc. and all I got was how each person would hot rod it. I never want to subject the fordor to that level of disrespect again.

@@ModelA 🤯 Elder abuse! People have no respect for our seniors. Take him somewhere that he is loved and appreciated and give us a video of that. He would get lots of love and appreciation in my garage! 😉

The Foothill Classics car club does. Bunch of pompous hotrodders. The only thing I get at their gatherings besides ringing ears from the blaring 50's "music") is "When are you gonna put a V8 in that?" To heck with that group.

@@ModelA I don't blame you, when I was a kid in Mass back in the early 60's the old man down the street had most likely a model A, he kept in the garage during the winter, you could always tell when he was coming down the road they have such a distinctive sound. He was a family friend so I had a few rides in that car I thought it was cool car when I was a kid and still do.

Respectfully I rather have those model "T" no offense please, I love those cars. Specially is it has a flat head "V8" engine under the hood.

@@ModelA Ouch! Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, I just had a sonogram of my liver taken Thursday. Blood test revealed high levels of liver enzymes. So the doctor is doing tests. Let us both pray that neither of us have anything seriously wrong.
@ModelA2 жыл бұрын
Ouch! Hey, don't panic, my friend. I was born with a lousy liver, and my liver enzymes are almost always sky high. I stopped eating meat and anything else my body has trouble digesting and all is well. I get bloodwork every 6 months to monitor, but liver enzymes are always a little high, but no longer alarmingly so. You might have to change your diet, no biggie. Don't let them give you any statins!!! Those will kill you slowly. Living with high liver enzymes is just routine for me now. You'll be fine. Don't pet the doctors scare you. But prepare to change your diet if you want to do it the right way.

Electric Mustangs are a disgrace to that name. Paul, you have the VERY BEST car on that lot. Bar none. Sorry, but your friend absolutely ruined that 65 Chevy. When I was a Whole lot younger, I thought as he does but when you get old, you find out that restoring to stock, they are just fine. If you are going racing, then it's different. As far as kids in the car & not hurting it > you haven't met my neighbors. Moved since then & No problems as of yet. Kids will destroy stuff in a matter of minutes left unchecked.
