I am also a Krav practitioner. Krav Maga strategy is never to fight someone at their strength. Don't box with a boxer. He should have done more calf kicks till boxer can’t stand up anymore. Then take his legs out, (or Thai clinch and knee) and ground and pound which he did, but KM guy took risk to box for too long. A better boxer would have close in and Tyson him out.

Krav Maga is not ment for these fights. KM is ment for real life situations where the goal is not to engage in combat at all until absolutely necessary.Given such a situation a KM fighter would not fight with gloves in a hit and back up style like this one did. It would be more like endless aggression until the initial attacker isnt able to fight or backs up by himself. The KM guy in this video just fights like a kickboxer...

@phronesis1642 and to be quite fair, the boxers delivery system is not that great.
@jkdwarrior3 Жыл бұрын
Something not mentioned here is that the boxer is at a huge disadvantage because of the grass and no shoes. You can get a lot more leverage with boxing shoes on a mat. When you train years on mats and transition to grass you realize quickly that you lose a lot of mobility and power. Now all the punches you've trained to take advantage of the torque from your legs and hips are diminished. When you fight on a mat your footwork is faster and you can really dig into the mat to generate force. The Krav guy is probably more used to fighting on different surface areas being that it's self defense oriented. Krav guy would have probably still won but it's worth considering.

The guy without the shirt may be kraver, but he is not using krav maga. What I mean is that this is not Krav vs Kick Boxer. Street fight (and Krav Maga and other combat techniques) is not about who is more skilled with jabs and round kicks or Jiu-Jitsu style tricks, it is about who causes severe injury and trauma first. That is the main difference between today's martial arts and fighting (combat or defense) systems.

I knew it! I knew if it went to the ground, the boxer would be done for. I'm not surprised that the boxer landed more punches, but thats because he is a boxer... Krav Maga has a number of techniques that can be pretty affective outside of the ring... and nearly every Israeli knows it. I'm not too sure how effective Krav Maga would be in combat sports. I guess that all depends on the practitioner.

This guy is probably less than my level of Krav (2-3 years I have) my coach knows too much. This fight would be over in seconds. He wouldn’t even need to box. And remember. Krav Maga is to deliberate or kill. They are sparring by right now Edit: and Krav still won. I also do MMA. In fighting. I think they are both equally as effective maybe Krav more so slightly. In real world street scenarios. No comparison. Krav is one of the best, if not the best martial arts.

Both tough guys. The boxer fought straight up, very little slipping or head movement. Ate a lot of straight right hands. Early Tyson was a master of bob, weave, then counter punch.

What fight were you watching Jerry? LOOL Boxing guy did well but was never winning, he caught Krav dude a few times but Krav dude landed just as many important hits if not more, and was far more varied in attack. respect for admitting bias via edit comments though I respect that.

It's a sports fight. I didn't notice any kicks to the crotch zone, for example. It works well for accepting hits or orienting yourself in combat. But this is not a typical krav maga fight.

Was the Krav Maga practicioner allowed to do everything he learned? Like knee kicks into groin and balls? Using ellbows? Grappling? Or was he just allowed fist punches and kicks, which is max. 20% of all Krav Maga skills...he might have ended the story much faster otherwise😂
@Guardian179 Жыл бұрын
Probably pretty standard MMA rules. So elbows, knees, grappling all fine, but nothing to the eyes, throat, back of the head, or groin. Still confused why he stood up and kickboxed with him most of the fight though. Lots of trading punches, and that's not something I'd be keen to do if I knew I was fighting a boxer. If he'd have gone in for a solid single leg or clinched up and thrown some knees, things could have been much different, as I don't know if the boxer really had an answer for it.

@@hozza0411 The big puffy gloves only soften a punch, so if Tyson could easily deliver a knockout with those pillows, just imagine the power on a chin with a smaller glove. I'm quite confident that even today he could take out most intermediate fighters with a jab. Don't forget that with his neck being the same width as his whole head he could, can take a punch too, not just give.

As an Israeli I always sort of root for Krav Maga, but honestly I was betting on the boxer and sort of surprised the KM guy won. Why? Well, ppl forget KM is not a competitive sport, its sole purpose is to end real world melee as quickly as possible (whether by escape or deescalation or severely injuring an attacker) and the moment you are in a ring with rules in place, you're already out of your element. The KM guy won because he had some training in leg kicks, takedowns and ground work. But you don't necessarily have to be good at any of those, or even taking or throwing punches to be a good KM practitioner. You're trained to break fingers to get out of grapples, then gouge eyes to end the fight. It's not a sport, and with sporting rules you're crippled or you're on your own relying on how good of a kickboxer or grappler you are.

KM isn't the kind of 'protected' form like muay thai or BJJ is where you have some specific requirements to call yourself "instructor". You or me could open up a Krav Maga training center tomorrow without knowing more than how to spell the name. The fact that a lot of wannabes sell bullshido that way is the reason there's so many people getting their rears kicked.
