Usually enemies have red health bar that are like 4 levels above Kratos. If Kratos is level 1 then: - level 2 enemy will have orange bar - level 3 enemy will have purple bar - level 4 enemy will have purple bar and a skull - level 5 will have red bar and skull

Idk if this is all that helpful but I found that if you use the spear, you can use it to take on the property of whoever youre fighting. Makes it really good when you have bifrost. It also gives you resistance to that element.

you wont be able to inflict stagger with the axe to most enemies in the red bar difficulty. theyll just attack right through and you can only dodge or parry. using the blades of chaos is a quicker and more efficient way because it may not inflict stagger, but its quicker and does more damage faster.
