I like this kind of testing. That said, with the sample size and standard deviations shown here, there is no statistical difference between any of those four test conditions so I'd be careful splitting hairs with these results. Regarding future content, given that you have a perfect "lab" with clients, I would be interested in data from fittings. For example, if you had data on 20 (or more) golfers being fit for shaft weight, what percentage "hit it better" with what shaft weights? And, what does "hit it better" mean -club head speed, ball speed, contact efficiency, dispersion, carry, feel?

Very interesting and would have never considered that in the past. It would have been interesting to see the heavy watch on the right arm. Who knows, it may have moved the landings a little more right. Great video...!

Call me crazy... I can definitely feel a counterbalanced club but I can't feel different weight grips or if I'm wearing a watch. Also, when I switched to graphite shafts they "felt" heavier, but were actually lighter. So a C-something swingweight was not lighter "feeling". Not sure what to do with all that, but I suspect swingweight is best for matching how a set feels within itself. Which begs the question are MOI machines more or less helpful? Maybe Swingweight vs. MOI Speed Match for clubbuilding could be a topic.

Do you mind testing the following??? 1. Eye patch (dominant vs non-dominant) all clubs and putter. 2. Mouth guard use and effect for driver club speed.

I would wear a GPS watch but this have never been a concern. I have been a health check of my 2 bags in recent times ( winter and summer bag). The swing weights were everywhere! C2- D6 decovered in each bag! Lampkin grips weighing 78grams messed up my summer irons, even losing the NFC club tags ( at 2 grams each got me back to D1 from C9), a 3 Wood discovered at C5 now with lead tape to C9. 7 wood with a X stiff shaft the same, lead tape to D1. 1 point you made which have observed in the counter balance, a C7 7wood making 245 yards on a flat fairway? Recorded 4 separate times in 2023 on tags. I will repeat these now in D1, I fear increased shafts flex with the 8 grams of lead tape. May be time for light grips at 52 gram down from 78 grams! Dri-tec to replace Lampkins in example.

Related, what's the swing weight effect of installing on the ends of clubs performance tracking tags such as those of Shot Scope? They weigh about 4 grams each.

For an idea video, many years ago a guy I played golf with was blind in his left eye. He was a very good iron player as he had to limit his backswing move off the ball, stayed centered so as to keep his right eye on the ball and was a very very good iron player. To this day on my short irons and wedges I close my left eye and hit better iron shots than with both eyes open. Do you think this is a thing or just him and me. Try it an see ( pun intended ). Love your videos, thanks.

How about CHOKING DOWN on your club? (like Brooke Henderson) … does that act as a counter-balance as well? And what about grip WRAPS? 🤔 I’ve been using Alien Pros wraps on my clubs. I like the feel, doesn’t get slippery if wet or sweaty. Have you tried them? Also, I see more and more LONGER GRIPS on PUTTERS, and players choking down (sometimes almost to the shaft). And how about fat vs thinner putter grips? 🤷🏼♂️ I’ve always used what feels comfortable.

I swing weight all my clubs without grips to E1 (ends but being close to D2 with a 50g grip). I don't think the weight in your hands makes any difference so I don't worry about the individual grip weights. The example I use is a wedding band. Mine weighs about 12g which at the grip end is equivalent to about 3 SW points. There is absolutely no difference for me if I swing with or without my wedding band.

Is the heavier watch a gps watch? Did not appear to be. If not, as a practical matter, why include it in the experiment? Also with the 40 gram back weight the ball seemed to back up farther on the green than with any of the other setups.
@freddym66437 ай бұрын
I've seen you iron shaft weight test and your X100 driver video and saw that you don't really find much speed difference even when going between very light and very heavy shaft, but why is it then that even very fast and skilled players like tour pros still will mostly use for example lighter graphite shafts in their driving irons rather than just their iron set shaft?
@EFGMC7 ай бұрын
They may not see a speed difference, however they might see differences in launch that they prefer with the lighter shaft.
