Agree, many workers won't smile or have even simple adab when they serve you. Some in fact will show that you are a NUISANCE as a customer. I once showed that I am lost because no instructions / queue so I asked the worker at the counter politely "Uhh ini nak kena buat apa ya, nak beli ____ ". He replied, "DUDUK je lah, saya tgh serve customer ni! Nanti kita panggil." Wow...

According to traditional Malay conventions, even if the guess arrived uninformed or uninvited, they were always fed with whatever the host had on hand. Furthermore, the guess must accept the gestures since to do otherwise would be considered disrespectful and offensive to the host. Even the Chinese culture continues to practise the old custom of inquiring, "Have you eaten?" It seems that food was difficult to get by in earlier days, particularly during World War II. As a way of expressing your concern, the first question you ask when you meet someone is therefore whether they have eaten. This habit has persisted up to the present day. The culture now is different, though. Food will only be served upon invitation; otherwise, they may suggest eating outside, especially if you arrive without prior knowledge. As a result, food has now ingrained itself into Malaysian culture and should be readily available whenever you need it without requiring self-control.

This culture has not really changed. Malaysians will still offer you something to eat or drink from their kitchen if you were to drop by their homes unannounced. I just stopped by someone's house and he offered to cut open some Musang King durians for me to eat.

@@brandenburg2388 - Yes, it is true that the majority of Malaysians are really happy to hear that their guests loved the food they cooked or at least enjoyed the food they’ve recommended. We always choose the finest ingredients and prepare the meal for our guests with affection, making it even better than the food we eat ourselves. Knowing that we can afford to provide the best for our guests genuinely makes us extremely happy.

3:41 Not as an excuse but as a statement of fact, most if not all of the frontliners in the service industry in Malaysia - waiters, security guards, shop attendants and so on - are migrant workers from countries that are more economically and educationally challenged than Malaysia. Because of language and cultural deficiency, they often appear rude and abrupt. Remember there are at least 7 million foreign workers in Malaysia, equivalent to 22 percent of the country's population and 45 percent of the country's workforce.

I hear a lot of foreigner say that Malaysian service industry is not up to their level of expectation compared to European services level. The truth is we dont act or expect that we are treated with overwhelming treatment as customer and we always feel that no matter how rich or educated you are in Malaysia you are the same as the waiter that serving you that day. We never expected to have over the top service or treatment from a diner for example because we are there only to eat and thats it. This culture is very different and if you have travel the world you will realize this. In Europe for example people will go for dinner and you will need to reserve in advance and they will spend 3-4 hours at a dinner. In Malaysia for example almost no restaurant require booking except during Ramadhan. People go to a shop to eat. Go in and out in 15 min. The waiter and diner is there to sell food to make a living and we are there to eat. Malaysian is very chill back and we dont go to restaurant eating fancy dinner to feel good about ourselves and expecting queen or king treatment from service industry. Truth be told in general Malaysia is way kinder and in touch with most customer to majority of european restaurant you can go. I agree at the high end establishment like restaurant in Paris a customer are treated like kings. Simply majority of Malaysian dont enjoy such treatment as if you lived long enough amongst Malaysian that humility and humbleness is in the core of our culture. Most people feel awkward at such treatment. That being said you can still get those fancy service treatment when going to high end establishment just not at a 2 USD all you can eat mamak stall.

@@zaki-pq1ps taklah macam tu. Ayat tersebut menunjukkan sifat orang Melayu mudah menerima foreigner. Itu bukan perkara baru di kalangan orang Melayu. Ahli Parlimen Plymouth, Miss Joan Vickers sewaktu membahas rang undang2 kemerdekaan Persekutuan Malaya pada 12.7.1957 menyebut: *The debate gives me a chance to say a "Thank you" for the great kindness and hospitality which I received from all races while I was in Malaya. The few years I was there were among my happiest, and certainly the busiest, of my life. I qualify, as I think my right hon. Friend has qualified, as being something of a Malayan, because I like eating durian, and if one can pass that test one is more or less accepted as a Malay.* ☝️ Bukti bahawa orang Melayu sangat terkenal elok bahasa dan baik budi sejak zaman berzaman sehingga menyentuh hati sanubari masyarakat dunia. Nota: Durian di Semenanjung juga sangat terkenal sejak dahulu.

so I learned something from this video, asians or asians aren't nice, but she is.Because her soul and heart is so pure and she always comes with a smile and waits for peoples tensions to go down, she will always perceive everyone to be nice, when in reality they are not. Msians like sporeans, absolutely hateeeee foreigners, from jealousy about stealing their jobs to jealousy about their sharper noses that they can't have and all, she is just an extremely positive person who came to look for the good thats why she experiences good and now the country will also become nicer but not because they are naturally nice but because they realise they are fked up to keep hating anyone that is not them when actually they are harmless and have a lot to offer you

Hi guys! Love this video. I'm hoping you can help me as I am considering taking this train only because your video has inspired me. I travel to Asia a lot. I'm a 70-year-old solo traveler. Last year I was in Malaysia twice as well as Sri Lanka. But after a while you run out of things to do in the particular country that are of interest to you. I'm not a beach person. m My excitement is from culture, food and making new friends. Have you taken the beautiful train through the tea plantations in Sri Lanka as I did? Because looking at your video it looks like what you were seeing through the window is similar to that and if so what would I gain as a new experience by taking this jungle train? I got dengue fever in Laos in 2019 and now the risk of internal bleeding from dengue is greater on a second infection if from a different variant than the one I have antibody's against. So I'm always concerned about jungles and waterfall things due to mosquitoes. Any experience - were their mosquitoes? Do you know if Dengue is prevalent in this area if not in the rainy season?

Our main income from economy is oil & gas / petroleum business which run by local company (Petronas) who send hundreds of billion dollars to government coffer. But this O&G can only provides little number of jobs so manufacturing & services become the main employment providers. The salary is lower than any developing country but most basics for living were supported by O&G income via subsidies (prices for essential products were capped). This was the mainstay of Malaysian economy until recently when the government tried to do away with subsidies, for projects of self enrichment, getting hard slap in their face (3 goverment in a span of 2 years)
